Agatha smiled while she was standing outside the kindergarden, leaning against her car, waiting for Y/K/N. You had called her asking if she could pick up your child from school and take care of them for a few hours, since you would have to work overtime. She hadn't even hesitated, happily agreeing. In another time, she would have been alarmed by how quickly you and your child have made their way into her heart, but she couldn't deny the heat that spread through her chest just because you trusted her enough to trust her your kid.
"Ammi!" someone screamed, pulling her out of her thoughts.
Her smile widened when she saw Y/K/N running towards her with open arms. The woman ducked in time to catch them and lift them into her arms. Her heart melted when the kid kissed her on the cheek.
"Hey, buttercup" she laughed "How was your day?"
"Good. Look, we did this in class" they said showing her a sheet with glued papers and scribbles that she couldn't pay much attention to because a young woman approached them.
"Excuse me, I'm Y/K/N's teacher, could I have a word with you?"
Agatha frowned with curiosity before nodding. She carefully put the kid on the ground and put them in the car before turning to the woman.
"Is something wrong?" she asked her "Y/K/N had a problem?" she was ready to jump in defense of the child if necessary
"Oh no" the woman laughed "Y/K/N is a little angel" she assured her and Agatha felt a twinge of pride in her chest "It's just that, I don't remember seeing you in any meeting, and your wife has lost the last two parent meetings. I don't mean to be nosy, but I am concerned that you're not keeping an eye on the child's education"
Agatha had stopped listening after the woman said the word "wife." She was tempted to correct her, but something stopped her. Perhaps the fact that the thought was not at all unwanted. She would lie to herself if she said that she didn't find you attractive or that she hadn't thought more than once about asking you out.
"I'm sorry" she finally said, quickly thinking of an excuse "I just got to town, but I'll speak to Y/N right away"
"Thank you very much Ms..."
"Harkness" she smiled.
_____________
"I'm done, ammi" Y/K/N's voice made the woman jump. She turned around to see your child with an empty plate in their hands.
"Thanks little pigeon" she smiled at them, taking the plate and leaving it carelessly in the sink "did you like it?"
"Yes! Mommy always makes me eat the vegetables first"
"Well, it will be our little secret, okay?"
Y/K/N nodded and giggled, pressing a finger to their lips for silence. Agatha smiled again at the sound and pinched their cheeks. She couldn't deny that she loved this little pigeon and she was so grateful to you for allowing her to spend the whole day with them.
All the way home, Y/K/N had been chatting with her about school, trusting her enough to tell her everything. Then when they arrived, they had sat at the living room table doing their homework while Agatha made food. The woman allowed them to skip the vegetables (what you didn't know wouldn't hurt) and the child had hugged her in gratitude.
Now, the pigeon was taking her by the hand to lead her to the living room so that she could draw with them.
"Ammi" they whispered.
The woman loved that nickname. From the beginning it had become obvious that Y/K/N couldn't pronounce her name quite right, so you had suggested calling her Aggie (which sent butterflies to her stomach) and that's what Y/K/N had been calling her until a few weeks ago, when the child had gotten confused and mixed up the words "Aggie" and "Mommy" when they tried to call you both at the same time. As Agatha was the first to answer, that had been her nickname ever since.
"Yes?" Agatha asked, looking up from her own drawing.
"Alicia, the girl who lives at the end of the street, asked me if you and mom love each other" said Y/K/N casually
The kid didn't even look up from the drawing, totally oblivious to the fact that the comment caused a red burst on the woman's face.
"So?" they asked her after a while of not having an answer "Ammi?"
"Sorry honey" said Agatha, blinking rapidly "I ... I don't know what to tell you"
"Do you love my mommy?" they asked, looking at the woman with piercing eyes.
Agatha could lie to herself, even to you. But she couldn't lie to this little pigeon.
"... yes ... I think so, buttercup"
The child smiled enormously and approached her, covering their mouth with their little hand, as if they were going to tell her a secret. The woman smiled and leaned over to listen to them.
"Can i tell you something?" they whispered her, Agatha nodded "I wouldn't mind having another mommy"
The brunette gasped a bit as Y/K/N returned their attention to the drawing.
The heat in her chest (and the blush on her face) lasted until you came for Y/K/N a few hours later.
__________
"Thank you very much, Agatha, I owe you my life. I hope they behaved well" you said, taking the sleeping child from the brunette's arms.
"Oh, they're a little angel" she replied smiling at you.
You smiled back at her, noticing her slight blush. She looked gorgeous with messy hair and nervous eyes. You didn't want to get your hopes up, but deep down you hoped that you were the one making her blush.
"Thank you" you said again "If there is anything I can do to repay you, just tell me" you added, walking down the stairs from her entrance.
"Well..."
You stopped and looked at her, waiting for her to continue. It was incredibly rare to see her this nervous, and you loved the sight of it.
"Yes?" you encouraged her
"You can thank me by agreeing to go to the movies" she said quickly, looking at her hands "We can take Y/K/N with us, I think they have a new movie about dinosaurs or something like that" she added
You smiled and felt your heart jump. A date with Agatha was something you never thought you'd be lucky enough to have, but the fact that she was more than willing to include your child in her plans (unlike many of your other dates) just made you feel more adoration for the woman.
"It's a date, Ms Harkness" you nodded.
The brunette finally looked up, surprise etched on her face, as if she had expected you to reject her. When you blew her a playful kiss, Agatha laughed and winked at you, watching you until you walked into your house, with a little treasure in your arms.
The woman closed the door behind her, feeling lighter and more excited than she had in years. She smiled realizing that Y/K/N had left their school work on her desk.
Agatha took it to examine it and her heart exploded with happiness when she realized that it was a drawing with the title "My family". There were three people, with Y/K/N's tangled handwriting under each one.
Mommy, Me, Ammi.
