Warnings: angsty?

You walked through the park while the snow fell around you. You were grateful that your girlfriend had subtly suggested to Wanda that the twins might like to see it snow. You were tired of sunny days at Westview.
Unfortunately, it hadn't turned out exactly how you thought. Yes, it was white, the children were playing, you were able to wear a beautiful coat and your girlfriend was by your side, walking with you. But she hadn't taken you by the hand.
It was kind of silly, maybe...at least in Agatha's eyes, but you liked holding hands, it made you feel safe and anchored to the only real thing in this town. But no, it seemed like your girlfriend didn't want to hold hands today.
Well, there was only one thing left to try.
"hey..." you said after a while "...my hands are cold"
"I told you to bring gloves" replied the brunette, without turning to look at you.
It was a common thing these days, that she didn't have time for you. You understood, she had to always be on the lookout for anything that happened, and you didn't want to be in the way, so you usually got out of the way and waited patiently for her to look for you. But holding your hand was not asking much...was it?
"Here" she said, pulling you out of your thoughts "Don't take them off, I can't take care of you if you catch a cold"
The witch gave you her gloves and you sighed, muttering a little thank you as you put them on.
You tried again a few minutes later
"Aggs"
"Yes?"
"Aren't your hands cold?" you asked "I mean, if I have your gloves, then-"
"Y/N" the woman sighed "Is this your way of subtly hinting that you want to hold my hand? Because it's quite cute, but I'm not in the mood to hold your hand" she told you bluntly .
You blinked a bit and pouted, to prevent your true feelings from escaping. You mumbled a little apology and looked down at the ground, feeling pretty bad.
You wanted to think that she was just stressed, that she really wasn't upset with you, because you hadn't screwed up in a long time. You wanted to believe that she did not reject you with bad intentions. You especially wanted to believe that it wasn't her way of telling you that she didn't love you anymore.
You've been thinking about it a lot lately, ever since she started wandering off to keep an eye on the red-haired witch. You had reassured yourself and made excuses, but you were beginning to worry.
Agatha noticed that you had stopped walking a few meters behind her. She turned to see you standing there, with a frown, a pout, and lots of emotions in your eyes. You were lost in your thoughts, but the brunette knew you were upset.
She sighed and felt a little guilty. So she walked back to you and gently brought you back to the land of the living.
"Y/N" she said carefully, but you still jumped a bit "Are you okay honey?"
"I-I" you blinked "Y-yeah...yeah, yeah I'm fine" you gave her a forced smile
The older woman sighed and reached out her hand, with a raised eyebrow. You looked at it for a moment. In any other situation, you would have smiled happily and held her hand, grateful that she had changed her mind. But this time...this time it felt bad. It felt fake.
She didn't want to hold your hand. She only did it because she had seen you sad. You didn't want that. So you didn't take her hand.
"...I think I don't want to walk anymore...I'd better go home" you said
Agatha felt her stomach churn with guilt and she lowered her hand. You had been very excited this morning when you woke up to see snow filling Westview. Even a few minutes ago you were happy. And now...you looked so sad...And she knew it was her fault.
She inwardly cursed herself. Really, she didn't deserve you. You had been so patient and understanding with her, waiting for her, never wanting to be the center of her attention. And she hadn't been able to do something so small for you as hold your hand.
"Let's go then" she said, giving you a small smile that you didn't return.
You nodded and turned to walk home. You felt her next to you, but you didn't turn to acknowledge her presence.
After a few meters, you felt her carefully entangle her fingers with yours, but you didn't return the affection. You didn't see the point if you couldn't feel her warmth anyway...literally or figuratively.
You were starting to wonder if at the end of the day, your anchor turned out to be as fake as the rest of the place.
