Why am I not enough for you?

It was the question that had been on your head for several days. Although, if you were honest, you had thought about it several times before throughout your marriage.

"I wish you would tell me the truth, Aggie" you whispered, stroking the face of your wife, who was still unconscious "Why do you keep doing this?"

You sighed as you watched her lying down, the moonlight coming through the window accentuating her beautiful features, giving her an almost mythical and divine appearance. You felt impressed by the beauty of the woman, but also out of place, like you shouldn't be looking at this sacred piece of art.

You leaned in to gently kiss her lips before leaving the room. You needed to make sure your protection spells were working. You knew Wanda wouldn't track you down (at least not for now), but you weren't going to risk your wife.

You smiled at the memory of the battle, Wanda had asked you the same question that you had asked yourself several times.

You gasped when your wife fell unconscious to the ground. You knew this would happen, you warned her, but she hadn't listened to you. Well, it wouldn't be the first time. So you did what you always did. You saved your wife's ass.

Wanda had gasped when your magic sent her flying through the sky. Recovering quickly, she looked at you in surprise. You had been a good friend to her and, unlike Agatha, you had done it for real, with no underlying plans.

"Why are you defending her?" she asked, not wanting to attack you "she is evil"

"I know, but she wasn't always like that ... I guess, deep down, I hope that one day she stops being evil"

"She uses black magic!" Wanda frowned

"Black magic is not bad per se, Wanda, neither is chaos magic" you said, making her look at her hands for a moment "They are just different types of magic. Using them does not make you a bad person"

Wanda seemed to think about it and she slowly landed in front of you. You could see the tears in her eyes and a little glimmer of hope. You had seen that same look over 200 years ago on Agatha. Can I still be good?

"Why do you defend her so much?" asked the redhead "I...I don't want to be nosy or rude, but up there, she didn't seem to think for a moment what would happen to you if she lost"

You smiled at that.

"Agatha Harkness is not a person who would give her life for you, Wanda. It's something I accepted a long time ago" you admitted "But if someone who would murder for you ... And she's the only thing I have"

She didn't seem very convinced, but she trusted you, so she nodded. She hesitated for a moment, as if she was debating something with herself, so you made the decision for her and hugged her.

"Someday, when you feel ready, you can come find us. We will help you if you need it" you promised.

Wanda smiled at you and nodded.

"Good luck" she told you, pointing to Agatha before flying out of there.

"If only it were that simple" you sighed.

You went back to your room and lay down next to Agatha. You looked at her for a moment, feeling butterflies in her stomach, like it was the first time you've seen her.

"I love you" you whispered "It doesn't matter if you don't."

You brushed a lock of hair from her face, stroking her cheek in the process.

"I just wish I was enough for you for once" you sighed before closing your eyes and falling asleep.

You didn't see the tear that ran down your wife's cheek. Agatha had woken up shortly after you left the room. She had admired your work from the window, savoring your magic. She had missed her. You weren't wearing her when they were at Westview and she'd missed the feel of her around her.

When you came in, she closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep. She loved it when you took care of her and cared for her. It made her feel loved.

She broke his heart to know that she hadn't done enough for you to feel loved too.

_________

You groaned as you felt something soft and wet on your temple, then on your cheek, your chin, your eyes and finally, on your lips. You slowly opened your eyes. Agatha was on top of you, giving you a sad smile.

"Aggs?" you whispered

"I'm sorry" she said, kissing again "I'm really, really sorry"

"For what?" you asked, frowning.

She caressed your cheek before she kissed you one more time, deeper this time. She put all her love in that kiss and you felt it. It was breathtaking.

"You're everything to me" she whispered "You're all i need, all i want"

You gasped when you realised what she was talking about.

"You heard me?"

She nodded.

"I love you" she whispered "I'm sorry I didn't do a good job of proving it, please give me another chance to fix it"

You smiled and kissed her cheek.

"You don't need to ask for another chance, silly. I love you, and always will" you promised "just...please, stop trying to get more power. It will kill you someday, and it will destroy me" you begged.

"I promise" she said and kissed you again.
