Y/N and Erwin arrived at the cadet corps after dawn. Some boys and girls have already gathered here, who were also accepted as cadets this year. Y/N said goodbye to Erwin, took her things and went to the distribution. She was assigned to one of the barracks where the cadets lived. «Hmm, I will have neighbors. Interesting», Y/N thought. «I've never lived with someone in the same room» She took one of the free beds, put her belongings in the bedside table, and stacked the books in a pile, changed clothes and went to the first meeting.

The recruits were gathering in the large dirt area, some of them were older than Y/N, but most were her age, as far as she could tell. Some apparently entered the cadet corps in groups, as they stood and chatted. Or have already met someone.

She saw people in military uniforms with the stripes of the cadet corps approaching them. The order to line up was given. Y/N quickly took her place somewhere in the center of the formation. Standing next to her was a tall, muscular blonde with a serious expression on his face.

A circus has begun. In other words, Y/N couldn't characterize it. Commandant Sadies, as he introduced himself, went up to each cadet and yelled at him. He shouted at the cadet who he was, where he was from, why he was here, and if the answer didn't suit him, he began to say offensive things to the cadet. He passed by some, the reason for this Y/N couldn't understand.

He moved closer and closer to her. Now he was approaching a guy with light brown hair and asked his standard questions. The guy replied in a calm tone:

- My name is Jean Kirschtein. I want to join the military police and live within the inner walls.

Y/N chuckled. «Well, if in ranks of the military police come only from such motives, then now everything is clear to me», she thought. The blonde next to her noticed her smirk and looked at her strangely. She noticed it, but ignored him.

Meanwhile, a cadet named Jean Kirschtein fell to his knees from the Commandant's kick as the Commandant continued to yell at him.

Mostly, the newcomers were from the borders of the Walls Maria and Rose, Y/N only once heard about the Wall Sina, and that was some village that she didn't even know. People mostly went to the cadet corps in search of prospects for a better life than they had at the moment, at least she heard this from the lips of those to whom the Commandant addressed.

«Damn, our row is next. Don't let him ask me, maybe he'll pass me by», Y/N hoped.

He started yelling at someone on the right. Then another person. There were two in front of her: her «neighbor» and another tall guy next to him. And... The Commandant walked past them both.

- YOU! WHAT IS YOUR NAME?

Y/N saluted.

- Y/N L/N, SIR!

- WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

- FROM THE BORDERS OF WALL SINA! CAPITAL MITRAS, SIR!

There was silence. The Commandant began to look closely at her, as if trying to understand whether she was lying or not. «Again, that facial expression full of questions»

Many of the cadets in front turned to look at her as they people from the Capital very rarely left it. Oddly enough, her «neighbor» didn't care, he didn't pay any attention to her words.

- WHY DID YOU JOIN THE CADET CORPS?

- TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTE TO THE VICTORY OF HUMANS OVER THE TITANS, SIR!

On this he finished. He didn't insult her that she would go to feed the titans, that she was weak and not worthy of a place among the soldiers. He simply nodded in her direction and moved on. Y/N stood still a little in shock, she didn't like to scream. Taking a breath, she finally realized that a lot of people were still looking at her. She quickly looked around, and began to intensely examine her boots.
