Chapter 99 - Far away from each other. Part 1

A/N: hello, how long it's been, but I'm back with new chapter. I have a nice and active vacation, now I'm back home and back to writing.

With each step towards the port, it became more and more difficult for Armin to leave. He slowly walked towards the port, now and then looking back. He already missed her. Closing his eyes, he saw her - his love, sleeping in a warm bed, waiting for him.

He felt tired. Lack of sleep and a very active night made themselves felt.

Armin got to the ship when the sun had already risen. Upon boarding the ship, he was informed that the departure was scheduled for twenty minutes - he arrived just in time. They explained to him where his cabin was on the ship. Armin planned to go to bed to sleep while they were on the road.

Leaving things in his cabin, he went to the main cabin, where they usually formed something like a place for meetings or communal meals. He needed to check that everyone had gathered, that all the necessary documents and things for their group had also been brought, as he had requested.

In the main cabin, he met his colleagues - Connie, his assistant Ana, a few other colleagues. Annie sat next to Pieck and Reiner, who would also be traveling with them as part of the Marley Division. Sasha and Niccolo were also there - they were going to get to Marley with their friends, and then they would travel on their own.

Armin approached his assistant.

- Ana, good morning. Is everyone ready for our departure?

- Good morning, Commander Arlert. Yes, everything is ready.

- Let's go through the list I made on Friday.

They started discussing the status of the preparations, which took a few minutes. Then Ana went to check something from the list again, and Armin stood at the window, looking at the awakened port. In the distance he saw the hotel building, he thought about her - did she wake up, how did she feel, did she find his farewell letter, was she as sad as he was.

- Hello, Armin.

He returned to reality from his thoughts.

- Oh, Annie...

- You look tired, as if you haven't slept... When did you arrive?

- A couple of hours ago by night train.

- Why didn't you come with us yesterday afternoon? You could get some rest.

Armin smiled softly at her.

- I had things to do, it was necessary to resolve all issues before leaving.

- You work too much, you should rest more...

- Don't worry, Annie, I'm fine, okay?

- I'm sorry... I know we've already discussed this...

- I do not mind your concern, if it is a friendly concern. I hope you accepted my decision to be only friends for each other. We will spend this trip together, and I wouldn't want our disagreements to somehow affect everything around, this trip is important for all of us, I wouldn't like to worry about any more unrelated problems.

- Yes... yes, I understand you, Armin. Everything is fine.

- Thank you. I'll probably go to sleep... if I'm needed here, I'll be in my cabin.

Upon their arrival in Marley, they spent several days in the capital. According to the plan, during December they will travel around all the refugee camps and cities in Marley as a diplomatic mission, and by the New Year's holiday they will all return to the capital to celebrate. Then they will begin their main journey to nearby countries. As Armin thought, even before the start of the trip, the end date for the entire trip had already been pushed back by two weeks due to desires on the part of the Marley unit, who saw this trip in their own way.
