Harin was going through something far worse than she ever anticipated.
The heat coursing through her body was unbearable, a relentless fire that burned her from the inside out. Her lower abdomen throbbed in sharp, agonizing waves, and her alpha—usually a controlled and composed presence within her—was now a feral beast, growling and clawing to be unleashed.
Did she really have to rut now?
It wasn't even the right time; her cycle was completely off course.
She thought back to her day. It had been uneventful, almost mundane. The morning was spent teaching a new dance class, something she had been excited about. Lunch was a solitary affair since Aiki was away filming a commercial.
And then came the encounter with Jung Jaehyun.
The memory made her grit her teeth. Their argument in the hallway had been brief but heated, a clash of words that left her fuming long after it ended.
Was that enough to trigger this?
The anger she had felt earlier bubbled up again, simmering just beneath the surface. It roiled and churned, a tempest she couldn't control. And her alpha, always so restrained, finally snapped under the weight of it all, dragging her into this vulnerable state.
She didn't know who to blame—Jaehyun, the pills that should have worked, or herself for letting her emotions spiral so far out of control.
But the real problem, the one gnawing at her mind, was the scent she was desperately craving.
A specific scent.
The wrong scent.
The worst possible scent.
[Harin, take the pills.]
"They didn't work," she gasped into the phone, clutching her stomach as another wave of pain hit. Her breath came in short, labored bursts. "I think... I was just too angry, and I couldn't let it out."
[Shit. I can't drive you home. We're literally mid-pre-recording for Inkigayo.]
"It's fine," she lied, her voice shaking. "I'll just take another pill, I guess?"
[No! Do you want to overdose?]
"Maybe?" she quipped weakly, though the humor was lost in her strained tone.
[You–]
[SEVENTEEN, three minutes!] a voice barked in the background.
[Oh, fuck it.]
Harin let out a faint chuckle despite herself. "Go. I'll just lock myself in the studio until this... passes."
[I'm sor–]
"Good luck, Hoshi-nim," she interrupted gently before hanging up.
Her phone slipped from her trembling hand as she leaned her forehead against the cool mirror of the dance studio. The stark fluorescent lights above only emphasized how pale and clammy her skin had become.
It wasn't fine. Not even close.
No, it's not fine than Taeyeon's Fine.
