The weight of dating a pureblood alpha lingered on Harin's mind like an indelible scar. It wasn't a fleeting thought; it was carved into her body and psyche—a constant, oppressive reminder of her supposed role in the delicate balance of dominance and submission. She often found herself wrestling with the cruel irony of her circumstances: born with the instincts of a leader, yet burdened by the stigma of never being fit to submit fully.
It haunted her, this conflict of identity.
Months had passed since she'd severed ties with Jaehyun. The relationship had been a test of endurance, leaving her disillusioned and introspective. She spent countless nights reflecting on herself, her values, and the nature of her secondary gender.
Harin wasn't weak; she knew that much. She could dominate, and when pushed to the edge, she could even submit—but only to someone capable of matching her strength. A pureblood alpha. And as much as the thought unsettled her, she couldn't deny the truth buried deep within: she was drawn to them.
There was no defined category for someone like her. Alphas typically fell into one of two subcategories: Alpha or Pureblood Alpha. If a third classification existed, she might belong there—a Sub-Alpha, someone who could assert dominance yet yield to a higher force when the need arose.
But the idea made her pride ache. To admit such a label felt like a betrayal of everything that made her an alpha. And so, the internal tug-of-war continued, gnawing at her peace.
Spring had arrived in full bloom, with flowers painting the city in vibrant hues. But the season brought more than beauty—it carried challenges, especially for omegas. If alphas were most sensitive in the sweltering heat of summer, spring mirrored that effect for their omega counterparts.
Maze Studios had adjusted its operations accordingly, granting omegas temporary leave during their cycles. The result was a quieter, calmer environment, with the building nearly devoid of omega energy. Classes continued with minimal disruption, as the remaining students were primarily alphas and betas.
Harin had just finished refining a new choreography for her upcoming class. The studio was hers alone today, a rare moment of peace she hadn't realized she needed.
Dressed in an uncharacteristically light pastel blue shirt tucked into black sweatpants, she looked refreshingly different from her usual dark-toned attire. Her long raven hair, now cascading past her waist, framed her face as she packed her belongings.
She had barely reached the door when it slammed open with a startling force.
Harin froze, her wide eyes locking onto the figure leaning against the doorframe. Jaemin stood there, panting as if he'd just sprinted across the city. His usually bright demeanor was replaced with something raw—desperation etched into every trembling movement.
"You're here..." His voice cracked, barely above a whisper.
"Nana?!" Harin's voice rose in alarm. She rushed to pull him inside, slamming the door shut behind them.
"What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be out!"
"I know," Jaemin mumbled, his voice faltering. His hands trembled as he tugged at the hem of his shirt, trying to cover himself. Harin's brows furrowed, confusion melting into concern as a subtle wave of his scent hit her.
