( Skypiea Arc )
Ashe was in a far better mood when she rounded the corner to the docks where the Going Merry was moored.
She had fantasised about dismembering Doflamingo, dismantling the whole Warlord system, and going back to the bar to maybe knock a couple of Bellamys teeth out. She sure wanted to. One good punch and the pirate that had caused her captain so much distress would be down for the count. It would make her mood even better.
However, that mood once again dipped when her gaze landed on the sweet little caravel they called home. The Merry was tattered and covered in sheets of metal and plywood that stood out against the original painted timber. The rail beside the gangplank was almost completely made up of new wood. She was amazed that the small ship is still sailing at this point.
She made her way up the gang plank, stopping a moment to give the rail an affectionate pat, and dropped to the main deck "I"m back"
"Ashe!" Nami all but shot across the deck to grab the taller woman by the front of her shirt to shake her slightly before Ashe brushed off the navigators grip before she popped a button "Did you beat them up? Rip them limb from limb? Shoot them full of holes?"
The gunslinger couldn't help but chuckle "I was tempted"
She brushed past Nami, intent on disappearing to the galley to grab a snack, but the navigator jumped in front of her once more with wide amber eyes that simmered with a barely contained rage "You didn't even hit one of them?"
"Weren't worth the effort" Ashe shrugged.
"You're just like Luffy and Zoro!" The ginger exclaimed loudly as she made a strange aggressive motion with her fists "I don't get it!"
Robin, making sure to give Nami a wide berth, slid up to the other woman's side with a look of interest in her blue eyes "Did you learn anything new on your little trip?"
"Nothing useful" The lie came quick and easy.
"Shame." Robin hummed noncommittally before giving a slight smile "I took the liberty of packing away the clothes we bought"
Ashe nodded with a smile of her own "Thanks, you're a life saver for that. I would of completely forgotten about them"
"Happy to help" The archeologist hummed.
Luffys joyous voice cut through the air like a bell "Let's go already!"
Ashe couldn't help but grin at the young mans enthusiasm as she took her place in the rigging, unfurling the sales with Zoro so the salt scented wind could catch and carry them away from the depressing town. She secured the ropes, fixed a knot, before joining the rest of the crew on the main deck. They all bustle about with their given chores and Ashe takes a moment to breath in the fresh air. The stale smell of alcohol had completely disappeared, leaving the fresh scent of the ocean and tangerines that had the woman's shoulders relaxing. Sailing away from Jaya and the Doflamingo Jolly Roger has her slumping further against the mismatch rail of the Merry as stress bled off of her. Absentmindedly, her hand drifts to the faint scar of the side of her neck left by the mans wire.
Her attention snaps away from the ocean when a strange ship approaches from across the horizon.
She squints in confusion "Is that another monkey?"
"I have no idea" Usopp huffs.
The next couple minutes is what Ashe could only describe as chaos. That strange ship drew closer, Luffy somehow insulted the captain that looked like a monkey with long green hair, and then said monkey pulled out a microphone to sing an off key note that was somehow utilised into a weapon. Then, that weaponised note began to tear their already fragile ship apart.
