( Alabasta Arc )
The sky was such a clear blue Ashe thought that she was staring at the ocean. It looked as if it was rippling, similar to waves on water, but she guessed that it was just the heat waves acting like a mirage. She stood there as she stared at the vast sky before she looked around at the empty desert that surrounded her. Ashe huffed and placed both hands on her hips. She had been walking with the group towards Yuba, minus Zoro and Chopper who had left to stop a raging Luffy, but she had gotten distracted by a desert rose. It was a small and simple rose shaped flower that came in small clusters, like daisies, but had a light sand sand color with golden flecks. They were rare so she just had to stop and catalogue it in her journal.
Which is also how she ended up here.
Treking through the desert with a small mason jar clutched loosely in her hand as she whistled softly. It was a simple yet repetitive tune that she learnt from Sherrif on her island. Her eyes flickered down the the flowers in the jar before she slipped them into her satchel. Before she continued on her trek, she had scooped a cluster of flowers up from roots and slipped them into the jar with some water.
Sweat slithered down her back and between her breast as the heat of the sun gradually became harsher. The black hat on her head now did little to provide shade. Ashe trudged through the dunes, still whistling, before she stopped at the top of one and squinted against the sun. A smile stretched across her rustic red lips at the sight of a large stone. She slid down the slope quickly and her footsteps only became quicker when she heard familiar voices coming from the shaded area underneath it. She was surprised that she actually found them in a dessert of this size but she wasn't complaining that luck was on her side.
"Luffy!" She called as she came closer to the large stone. The black haired boy whipped around before his dark eyes lit up brightly and he smiled. He waved wildly, hopping from foot to foot, and placed his hands on his hips when she joined him in the shade under the stone.
"Hey Ashe" he laughed "where've you been?"
"Just wanderin' around, I-!?" She went to take a step forward but the sand beneath her feet had given way and before she could grab anything to stop the fall, she had gone through the floor. She fell for only a moment before a gasp passed her red lips as she landed on top of something smooth and cold. She lay there for a moment, slightly dazed, before she sat up slowly with a pained groan and shuffled to her feet. A huff passed her lip and she turned when Zoros voice called out from below her.
"What are you doing here?"
Ashe peered down at him from where she stood on top of the large square stone. The swordsman was slightly bruised, not to mention covered in sand, but seemed fine overall. The white haired woman placed a hand on her hip and smirked.
"I'd ask you the same thing"
The swordsman huffed "I fell through the floor just like you and landed here. I have no idea what it is though"
Ashe nodded in understanding before hopping off the stone. She landed by Zoro, smirking when she noticed the height difference, then began to examine what she had landed on.
The rock was a cold ,dark shade of grey with odd symbols carved into the surface. It was surprisingly large, towering over Ashe and Zoro, and took up a large portion of the space from where it sat in the center of the dome. Zoro began to mutter to himself as he looked around the room while Ashe stepped closer to the stone.
She circled it slowly, fingers dragging along the carved symbols, before her crimson eyes widened in realization and near horror as she realized what the stone was.
