( Alabasta Arc )
Ashes boots pounded against dusty cobbled streets as she ran beside Zoro, her shoulders bumping his every so often. A sheen of sweat covered her forehead. She was tired and hungry, having skipped breakfast this morning, before her stomach growled sharply. A huff escaped her and then a groan. She was at that stage of hunger where it was slightly painful but she would soon forget about till it came back ten times worse hours later. She just wanted food and a cigarette. The group turned sharply down a corner into a thin side street as Luffy took the lead.
"Hey!" Usopp panted "please tell me you guys aren't planning on running all the way to Alubarna?!"
"We've got Eyelash" Nami called "Where the hell is that stupid camel anyway?"
"Close I hope!" Luffy grinned as he sped up "Doesn't this town have a stable? Let's get some horses"
"But the whole town is crawling with marines!" Vivi called.
"And horses aren't much help in the desert" Ashe added as she swiped some water from her nose. Her clothes were almost completely dry thanks to the Alabasta weather.
"Not to worry" Sanji smirked "look ahead"
"Hey, guys! Hop on" Chopper waved from his perch on top of a massive red crab. What looked like dried moss covered its back, where the reindeer and camel sat, while one of its sharp pincers was much larger than the others. Rope was latched onto the corners of its mouth, pulling it into a grin, and acting as reigns for Chopper to hold onto. Ashe marvelled at the creature before her stomach grumbles again. She now craved seafood. The massive crab skidded to a stop in front of the crew. The crab towered above the buildings and houses and grinned down at them.
"Ahhhh!" Usopp screamed as his eyes bulged out "A crab?!"
"That's a moving crab!" Vivi cried as her eyes sparkled in wonder. She stared up at the ships doctor with a dazzling grin.
"Yummy!" Luffy drooled as he stared. Ashe could guess that he was thing the exact same thing she was. Seafood platter.
"Wow!" The Captain cried "I can't believe my eyes. I bet it tastes delicious!"
"All aboard!" Chopper laughed.
"We get to ride it!" Luffy cheered before he stretched his arms up to grab the crabs eye and pull himself towards it "pleased to meet ya!"
"Is it just me or does its face look kinda shady?" Nami huffed.
"It's not just you" Ashe admitted as she passed her.
"Who cares" Sanji hummed as he followed her "At least we've have a ride"
"Say hello, he's Eyelashes friend" Chopper smiled at them as the crab lowered its bigger pincer to the ground for them to step on. Ashe hopped up quite happily. The others followed her and as soon as they began to rise into the air, Usopp latched onto her arm tightly.
"Scared of hights?" She hummed with a teasing smirk.
They long nosed teen only let out a huff but his grip didn't loosen "No! But I'm scared of falling from them. There's a difference"
