Fresh Start, New Beginnings

Chapter 7

Ryan rolled up slowly to the sidewalk "This is you I believe" Ryan sighed as he looked at Abigail "Don't forget I will pick you up tomorrow at 1.30"

"Ok, I'll see you then" Abigail closed the car door and walked towards her house, she took her keys out of her purse and unlocked the door. Ryan waited for her to close the door before driving away, at least he knew that she was safe inside that way.

Tony and Harriet were waiting inside for her Harriet came rushing furiously towards her "Where the hell have you been?" Harriet yelled, she was obviously shaken "Your phone has been off all night, we didn't know where you were" she continued to rant "Tony nearly called the police"

"Police really?" Abigail was now annoyed "What the hell Tony?"

"I was worried about you, you ditched Leroy and snuck off by yourself, to god knows where" Tony spoke, he too was angry.

"I wasn't by myself, I was with Ryan" Abigail retaliated furiously.

"That's not what I mean and you know it" Tony yelled, his face was now the same colour as his Red shirt "Anything could have happen Abi, What the hell was you thinking?"

"Oh I don't know" Abigail's voice was at the same height as Tony's now "Maybe that I wanted just one night, one night to behave like a normal person" Abigail turned quickly rushed straight passed Harriet and out of the back door, which led onto a balcony. She was shaking with fury, tears filled her eyes and her heart pounded in her chest as she stared into the dark.

Back inside Tony had slumped down onto the couch, he had his head in his hands "If only she knew how dangerous it was for her to be out there by herself right now" he sighed.

"We all agreed telling her was a bad idea" Harriet put her hand on Tony's shoulder "I'll go and talk to her" she smiled before going outside.

As Harriet stepped outside she saw Abigail leaning against the wall "I wish he didn't react like that" Abigail sighed.

"Abi he only does it because he loves you so much, you're the closest thing he has to a daughter" Harriet stood beside Abigail "You know that"

"I know" Abigail exhaled and slumped her body a little "It's just I feel so suffocated sometimes"

"I know honey" Harriet sighed "But you did promise that you would work with him on this remember?"

"Yeah, you're right I'll go and talk to him" Abigail started to walk back inside but Harriet grabbed her arm.

"Oh no you don't" Harriet frowned "I want to hear all about your time alone with Ryan Tedder"

Abigail laughed a little at Harriet's eagerness "We just went for a few drinks and talked" she was just about to continue but she felt a vibration coming from her bra, she reached in and pulled out her phone.

"Oh that's very ladylike Ab's" Harriet laughed. She paused when she saw Abigail smiling at her phone "It's from him isn't it? Let me see" Harriet tried to look at the phone but Abigail had turned away from her "Hey I had a really great time with you tonight, I hope you didn't get into too much trouble ;) Ryan xx"

"What does it say?" Harriet pleaded "Oh come on please Abs"

Abigail quickly tapped a reply "Hey I had a really great time too, the trouble was nothing I couldn't handle ;) see you tomorrow Abi xx" she hit the send button and slipped her phone back inside her bra.

"He just wanted to say he enjoyed tonight" Abigail turned back to Harriet.

"Well what did you say?" Harriet was desperate for answers.

"I said yeah and I would see him tomorrow" Abigail smirked causing an excited reaction from Harriet.

"You're seeing him again tomorrow?" She wondered.

"Yeah he is picking me up in his car and taking me for lunch" Abigail explained.

"He has a car?" Abigail raised her eyebrows.

"Yeah, sorry of course he does" Harriet realised her stupidity instantly.

"Well I hope it was his car he drove me home in tonight" Abigail teased.

"He drove you home...After drinking" alarms started ringing in Harriet's head.

"NO" Abigail quickly defended Ryan "He was drinking light beer, we both were. You know the low alcohol one"

"Well at least he is sensible" Harriet smiled a she watched Abigail walk back inside, she waited a few moments before taking her phone out of her pocket and dialling a number "Hiya, don't panic she's home safe and sound" Harriet whispered "No she doesn't know, we won't say anything unless you want us too" Harriet waited for the person on the phone to answer "Ok it's your call" she replied before hanging up and putting the phone in her pocket and walking back inside. Harriet smiled when she saw Abigail and Tony sitting on the couch laughing and joking with each other, she was please they had sorted out there differences. Mind you Harriet knew Tony could never stay mad with Abigail for long.

"Right I'd better go baby girl, clocks ticking and you need to sleep" Tony smiled as he stood up "And remember your taking Leroy with you tomorrow"

"Yeah ok" Abigail surrender, she didn't want another argument "But he follows us in my car ok?"

"Deal" Tony pulled Abigail into a tight hug before gesturing to Harriet.

"I'll call you tomorrow ok" Harriet smiled and hugged Abigail before turning and leaving.

As Abigail got into bed she quickly checked her phone, she had an unopened media message. If was a picture of Freya and her Dad's dog Toby, the caption read Night Mommy, love you xxxx...Abigail suddenly remembered the conversation she had, had with Nick the night of the awards ceremony. She knew she had to make calling him her first job in the morning...she typed "Goodnight princess, love you too xxx" before turning bed and closing her eyes. It wasn't long before she drifted off to sleep.
