A three year old girl snuck downstairs, careful not to wake her mom. The girl had long silver hair and green eyes. For her unusual colored hair, her mother named her Silver.
Silver went into the kitchen and grabbed a small pot. She then went outside in the backyard. The yard was a beautiful garden full of any flowers you could name. The sun was almost up and Silver wanted to surprise her mom.
She remembered that her mom's favorite flowers were the moon roses which only bloomed during a crescent moon. It was very rare to find one of these enchanted plants. If young Silver was lucky enough to find one, then she would bring it to her beloved mother. She meandered through the yard looking for a moon rose.
"Please let me find one for mommy." Silver whispered to herself.
Silver didn't have any luck finding her mom's flower which made her a little disappointed. She was about to give up and go inside until something caught her eye. It was a small white rose with a green stem and shiny gray leaves. The moon rose.
Silver smiled and picked up the flower, not damaging the roots. She then put the moon rose in the pot and got some soil to cover the bottom.
Proud of her brilliant find, Silver skipped back into her house putting the moon rose on the counter of the kitchen. Her mom would be so happy.
"Silver, what are you doing up so early?" A voice asked. Silver turned and was greeted by her tired mother. They both had the same colored eyes but Silver's mom had light brown hair. The young daughter smiled and pointed to the present for her mom.
"I found a moon rose for you." She replied happily.
Surprised, Silver's mother came closer and examined the rarely seen plant. She then smiled and picked up Silver hugging her tightly.
"Thank you dear." She said. "That was very thoughtful of you."
Silver returned her mother's embrace. She was then put down on the wooden floor.
"Go get dressed." Her mother said. "We're going to see a friend of mine today."
Silver nodded and trotted back to her room. She exchanged her pajamas with her favorite yellow shirt and a black skirt. After she slipped into her gray shoes, Silver went back downstairs and waited for her mother so they could depart.
.........
Silver skipped along the sidewalk by her mother's side. She said it was only a fifteen minute walk to get to her friend's house.
"Mommy, what's your friend's name?" Silver asked.
"Her name is Ms. Lee." Her mother replied. "She has a daughter your age named Zara."
Silver was curious about this Zara. Were they going to become good friends? There weren't many kids Silver's age in the village they lived in, resulting in Silver just playing by herself or with her mom. They had finally arrived to a small house with an orange roof. Silver's mom rung the door bell as they waited for a few moments. Once the door had opened, a woman with black hair and brown eyes. Behind her was a small girl that looked just like her only with blue eyes.
"Its good to see you May!" The woman said with a smile. She then looked down at Silver. "Well this must be the young Silver I had heard all about. Its nice to finally meet you."
"Hi Ms. Lee." Silver said shyly. "Its nice to meet you too."
The raven haired girl stared at Silver with interest. Silver stared right back once her green eyes met the girl's blue ones. Ms. Lee nudged her daughter so the two girls weren't hiding behind their guardians.
"U-um hi Silver. My name's Zara." The girl said sticking out her hand for Silver to shake. She wore a purple and silver striped shirt with a pair of brown pants. They were both shy too shy to say anything but hi. Silver shook Zara's hand and smiled slightly.
"Nice to meet you Zara." She said.
"So do you want to play with me?" Zara asked scratching the back of head. Silver turned to her mother as if asking for permission.
"Go ahead." May said. "Go have fun."
Silver turned back to Zara and nodded. Zara smiled and grabbed Silver's hand, leading the silver haired girl into her bedroom. The walls were painted purple and the ceiling had stars and planets hanging down from it.
"Wow your room is amazing!" Silver gasped. Zara beamed.
"Thanks. Its nothing much though."
The two girls sat on Zara's bed and started to play with her stuffed animals and chatted.
"So what's your favorite animal?" Zara asked.
"Wolves." Silver replied. "What about yours?"
"I know their not real but, I really like dragons." Zara said.
"That's cool." Silver stated.
They continued to play with stuffed animals until Zara got an idea and smiled. Silver noticed and tilted her head confused.
"What's so funny?" She asked.
"I have a great idea for a new game that we could play." Zara answered with a goofy grin. "Do you want to know what it is?"
Silver nodded. She was quite curious about this new game that Zara had invented.
"Okay so here's how it goes. I act like a dragon and you act like a wolf and we pretend that we're wrestling." Zara explained. "Sounds pretty fun right?"
"Yeah it does sound fun." Silver said. "When does the game start?"
"Right now." Zara said as she tackled her new friend to the floor. Silver pushed Zara off laughing.
"No fair you got a head start!" She giggled. Silver then hopped onto Zara tickling her. Zara squirmed and laughed like crazy.
"You think you can beat me?" Zara joked. "Then take this."
She started to tickle Silver which had an immediate effect. The gray haired girl laughed along with her friend. The two girls rolled around on the floor giggling not having a care in the world. Then Silver's mom came in the room.
"Silver its time to go." She said. Both Silver and Zara had glum faces after that statement. They were having so much fun and they didn't want it to end.
"Does Silver really have to go?" Zara asked.
Silver's mom giggled.
"Don't worry, you'll come to our house tomorrow Zara." She explained. Silver's face brightened with joy.
"That means I can show Zara my special place!" She exclaimed happily. Zara smiled as well knowing that Silver was going to show her a little secret that she had. Silver stood up and walked to her mom. She then waved good bye to Zara.
"See you tomorrow!"
