The two captured girls rode in a small cage that was carried by the lion hybrid who followed the man in the lab coat. They were now in a dense forest. In the opposite direction they were going, Silver saw a huge castle. She had heard that knights lived there and had always helped others in need.
"If that's so then why aren't the knights doing anything to help us?" Silver thought.
She glanced at Zara who was hugging her knees, staring into space. Somehow she knew that her mother didn't make it either.
Not being able to do anything, Silver copied what Zara was doing. Neither of them talked but simply exchanged hopeless glances at each other, frightened about was this man and his hybrids would do to them.
They soon reached a huge grey building that resembled a lab. As they entered, a shadowy figure waited impatiently.
"Took you long enough." The shadow said. The voice sounded like a female.
"Forgive me your Highness." The lab coat man said apologetically. "The mothers had hidden the children quite well. If these two hadn't shown their faces, we would've never found them."
"Whatever." The female said dismissively. "Just take the new experiments to the rooms and give them their collars."
The man bowed to the girl and hurriedly dragged Silver and Zara down a long and dark hallway. Silver grabbed Zara's hand and squeezed it tightly. Zara squeezed back as a response.
"Alright girls," the man said picking them up only to drop them in a huge dome made of glass. "This will be your home from now on. The dark princess is hoping that you two will be able to handle this... destiny you may say. If you do succeed then, you will have no choice but to serve us."
Then he turned and walked away. Zara stuck her tounge out at him when the man wasn't looking.
"They can't make us serve this dark princess if we don't wanna." She said pouting. Zara then turned to Silver. "So what do we do now?"
"I don't know." Silver sighed. "Even if we do get out of this scary place, we can't go home." She wiped the tears away from her eyes. "We have nowhere to go."
"So I guess that lion and tiger hybrids thing were the monsters that our moms were talking about." Zara said sitting next to her friend.
"Maybe," Silver said. "But I really think its the people that are the monsters."
Zara gave Silver a confused look.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked.
"Think about it." Silver replied. "These people just break our homes and put us in cages like we're animals. The hybrids really didn't do much."
Realizing that Silver right, Zara simply nodded. They sat in complete silence with very little light. Until another man with a lab coat covered in blood.
"So these are the new experiments." He said to himself. Not caring having any remorse for the frightened and grieving girls, he opened the glass dome and pulled Silver out. The man then shut the dome before Zara could rescue her silver haired friend.
Silver struggled and kicked at the bloody man but her tiny assaults did nothing. She was taken deeper into the hallway with the man.
Zara's POV
I can't believe that stranger just decided to take Silver away from me. Even though I couldn't see them, I could hear Silver screaming my name. I felt angry and sad. First they take away our homes, then our moms, and now they're separating me from the only person I have left. Lots of questions went through my head. Why are they doing this? Did me and Silver doing anything bad? What more do they want?
I did the only thing a three year old would do in this problem. I sat down and cried. I wanted everything to be the way it should be. Me playing with Silver in the Glowing Cave, our moms giving us hugs and kisses. I just wanted to go home. But there was no home to go to.
Silver was right, these people are the real monsters.
Silver's POV
I screamed for Zara, begging the man to let me go back to my one and only friend. But my wish never happened.
Each and every moment, I started to figure out that this world that we lived in was a very mean and dark place. No one was safe and everyone just did what they wanted to even if they make other people hurt.
I suddenly wanted to join my mommy in heaven. But if I did, who would look after Zara. I guess we have to endure this cold world by ourselves.
The man put me down on a cold table. He then took off my shirt and skirt and made me put on a plain white dress. It was very uncomfortable but I knew he didn't care. No one did.
I then was forced to wear a tight blue necklace which they called a collar. It had the word expirement on it and an eighty three hanging from the edge. I guess my new name is expirement eighty three.
Zara's POV
I was still sitting down crying when that man came back with Silver. But the he took me out and my reunion with Silver was only for a second. He put me in a room which might have been the same one Silver was in. The man took off my clothes and put on a dress on me. I didn't like it at all. He put a collar on me just like Silver's but mine had an eighty nine on it. I guess I'm supposed to be called expirement eighty nine now.
