Zara's POV
For the next few weeks Silver and I went along with our plan and acted like we were finally accepting our place here. I had now grown wings and Silver's tail had grown longer with her ears now moved up to the top of her head. No matter how much I wanted to just kill these humans right here and now, I simply gritted my teeth and did as they said. Silver seemed to have already gotten the hang of this whole act or she was just better at hiding her rage for them.
I mean what gives them the right to destroy our home, label us with numbers, force us to fight, and then make us their own personal slaves? What made me more mad was that there was a castle not too far from here and no one bothered to even bothered to help us. I bet that none of this would of happened if they just prevented our home from being destroyed.
One day when Silver and I were sitting in our glass cage, I felt my throat burn like a thousand suns. This just made me more mad since I had no idea what the cause was and the burning sensation didn't show any sign of weakening. In a desperate attempt to get this cursed feeling out, I blew out which cause a river of orange and red flames to exit my mouth. Silver looked at me kinda surprised while I simply grinned. My fire breath just meant that we can escape right here and now. But I think the dragon in me had other plans.
Silver's POV
It was surprising to see Zara's fire breath kick in so quickly. It had only been like two weeks since our tails and my ears came. Do these hybrid transformations go super fast or something or is just me and Zara?
Before I knew it, Zara's eyes started glowing a bloody red color as she started going out of control. Her first target was the glass cage that we could never break all this time. But a single stream of fire had sent the whole front melting in seconds. I didn't know if I should feel happy that we can finally get out of this cursed lab, or terrified knowing that the Zara's dragon side is running wild and there was a possibility that the Zara I knew would never return.
I simply watched my sister fly around using her new black wings blowing streams of fire on whatever had crossed paths with her. I knew I could just bolt out of here and be free but there was absolutely no way on earth I was leaving Zara behind. I just needed a way to get her to calm down. I stepped out of the half melted cage and searched for the only person I had left in this world.
Knowing that Professor Haze was always in the training arena, I decided to search there. No doubt that Zara went after him. I would of done the same thing. My predictions proved correct as I spotted Haze behind two hybrids facing off against Zara. The two hybrids were no match against my sister whatsoever and were easily fended off with a few bite marks. Zara and are probably the strongest hybrids here.
I ran to my sister who had already gave Haze a fiery grave.
"Zara let's get out of here already!" I shouted. Zara glared at me with her glowing red eyes piercing my soul. I skidded to a stop scared of that death glare that my sister was giving me. But I did muster up the courage to speak again.
"We'll end up getting locked up again if we stay here and fight. Let's get out before they have time to notice that we're out.
"You're kidding right?" Zara hissed, her voice sounded like a low growl. "After all these pathetic humans put us through, you just want to walk away? I say that we destroy this lab along with every human in here!"
The words Zara said had sent shivers down my spine. I hated the human race as much as she did but we shouldn't waste our time here trying to kill them all.
"We can get back at the humans later." I replied. "Right now we have to—"
Before I could finish my statement, an alarm sounded and an irritating beeping blared through my ears. Crud, they already noticed that we were out of our cage or at least what's left of it. The sound of the alarm must've snapped Zara out of her rampage since she looked at me with confusion.
"Silver what's going on?" she asked.
"No time to explain." I replied quickly. "We have to get out now!"
Zara simply nodded and with a simple flap of her wings, she was airborne. She flew through the empty hallways while I ran close behind her. All was going fairly well until we got to the exit doors where at least an army of five to ten hybrids. Looks like we're gonna have to fight our way out.
No one's POV
Silver and Zara looked at each other and nodded. The dragon hybrid blew a stream of fire at the small crowd, severely burning at least three while the wolf hybrid tackled one ending its life with a bite to the neck. When Silver felt a clawed hand on her back, she quickly turned around and kicked the opposing enemy in the stomach. Zara had grasped a tiger hybrid by its neck while punching a lion hybrid in the face.
After about three more minutes of fighting all the opposing blocking Silver and Zara's way were either dead or simply knocked out. Silver, who had taken more damage fell to her knees breathing heavily while Zara simply levitated a few inches in the air, placing a clawed hand on her sister's shoulder. That's when some scientist came dashing in with reinforcements.
"Experiments eighty three and eighty nine, stand down." one of the men commanded. "You have nowhere to run or hide."
Zara quickly glanced at the steel double doors that would lead them to the outside world then back at the scientist. She then grabbed Silver and blew one last stream of fire at their enemies as smoke filled the air. While the scientists were choking in the thick black mist, Zara flew out the door using her last bit of strength with Silver in her arms.
Zara had brought her and Silver at least twenty miles away from the lab before she collapsed.
"Zara you okay?" Silver asked shaking her sister's shoulder.
Zara slowly got up to her knees and nodded while grinning happily. It was the first in a long time Silver saw the dragon hybrid look that joyful.
"I am now." Zara said. "We're finally free."
