my mama met a man at her work the other day and he wants to meet me and have a bond with me. he also got a son and my mama wants me to make new friends but i already got a true friend, chrissy. we never know someone's true colors until we really get to know them and see they actions towards us.

the man's name is donovan and my mama speaks so highly of him so he must be a good man. he wants us over there at 6:30pm tonight so we're leaving the house not for awhile.

it's morning and breezy so i decided to go out for another one of those walks that i take, but it's been so long since me and my mama took one together so i invited her. she agreed with a smile.

"i'm sorry for making you feel like i was forcing something on you baby" my mama spoke as we walked. the breeze made my hair fly in a crazy mess but it felt good against my face.

"don't worry about it mama. it's just that i've been going through so much shit lately and i don't know why. i've just been so sensitive to everything lately"

"honey you've always been sensitive. you get that from your father"

my smile dropped and i continued to walk with my head down. the thought of him or someone mentioning him instantly changes my whole mood.

my mama cleared her thought the clear the awkwardness and changed the subject.

"you still thinking about going to college?"

"yep" a smile formed on my face. "i'm nervous but mostly excited"

"that's normal. it's crazy how you've grown up so quickly. it's like it was just yesterday i was holding you in my arms at the hospital"

i chuckled and looked up, admiring the bright blue skys with the clouds floating. "oh mama it's okay"

"ain't that tyler?" my mama pointed out. i felt dizzy and my heart pounded and i stopped dead in my tracks. my mama always liked tyler for some odd reason. she knows about him being out of jail now so she decided to talk with him for a bit.

she never really understood the whole reason why we broke up because i never told her. i only told chrissy because i knew it wouldn't get out to people.

tyler and my mama hugged for a split second. his eyes looked so intimidating and i felt like i was going to pass out. my throat became dry and i couldn't help but feel nervous.

his dark eyes glared into mine but then he smiled. "you in town for the weekend?" he said. that's right. chrissy and anthony told him i moved out of town awhile back.

"y-yeah. just visiting my mama for the weekend before i head back to california" i looked at my mama who had a confused look on her face but she said nothing.

"california? oh yeah? what's down there?" he asked me crossing his arms over his chest waiting for me to speak up again.

"the weather is beautiful and i just wanted a fresh start in life" he nodded after i said that and raised his hand to slap me.

"quit lying to me bitch! i know you been living with anthony for almost a year!" tyler raised his voice at me. how did he know? my mama started screaming her head to off and told him to back up before she called the cops. me and her was panicked.

"get outta here before the cops come and arrest you for assault!" my mama yelled as he ran down the street. i held my face with my hand.

"this is why we broke up mama" i finally told her. "he always put his hands on me and i told him i was breaking up with him. he just went crazy on me"

"oh honey if i ever knew that i never would have liked him in the first place. honey, i'm so sorry" she hugged me right and i sobbed in her arms. he's going to hurt me even worse next time

at dinner i met donovan and his son who was cameron. he was tall and handsome, almost as good looking as anthony.

"so what school do you go to luna?" donovan asked us while we was eating.

"oak hills high school" i respond with a polite smile. he nodded.

"that's where my sons going next year. he's coming in the last year of school but i think it's okay huh?" he smiled at his son who smiled at me. cameron had a nice smile.

after dinner my mama and donovan continued to talk and have wine in the living in front of the firewood in front of them just beneath the chimney. it seemed nice. i could tell my mama was in love with that man and i was so happy for her. it's been years since i've since her smile like that with a man.

cameron was not a young weird teenager boy like i thought he might be. me and him talked for a while and got to know each other. he was also really easy to talk to.

we exchanged phone numbers and when we had to leave we texted all night long back and forth.

do i want to be with him or anthony???
