Hiccup's POV

I felt a heavy breath heating my neck. I woke up because of this and turned seeing a blurry dragon breathing on me.

I was startled at this and jumped to the other end of my cage. I rubbed my eyes and saw that it was a Deadly Nadder and it was outside of my cage.

"Oh good Hiccup, you're awake." A familiar snarl sounded behind me. I turned around to see Heather standing above me.

"So what, Jin." I said, finally accepting her new name. I might as well; she has knives and axes all around her ship.

Jin walked around the cage and scratched the Nadder under its chin. "Hello Strider." But then she struck its growling head with the handle to her iron sword.

She stepped on Strider's head with her pirate-like boot and hissed at him. "I control you!" I couldn't watch what she was going to do as she drew her knives up to strike.

"WAIT!"I yelled, half-knowing that I was going to regret it. Jin whipped her head to me, her loose black hair twirling in the wind.

"What do you want now!?" She spat.

"If you don't hurt the dragon I'll train him for you."

"He is trained! He's just been stubborn for years!"

"Well you were going to kill him for being stubborn. If I help tame him a bit more, you won't hurt him." I was pretty sure that negotiation would make sense to her.

She opened my cage only in time for Strider to be shoved in. He started growling at me and he showed his teeth and popped out his spikes.

I stood up steadily and slowly walked to his tail. He turned with me so I was always looking at his head, but he finally stopped but his growl was louder now.

Jin's smirk only grew as I neared his tail spikes. I lightly touched a spike and the tail thrashed around, but stopped. I smoothed his tail spikes down and he let out a purring sound.

Jin's face looked shocked, but then she hid it with a dim look of satisfaction. "Good enough Hiccup. I'll wait for Drago to kill you instead of me." She spun around on her heels and sauntered away, leaving Strider in my cage.

Strider turned in circles like a cat before settling down and softly snored.

Hey! I'm sorry that this was a short chapter, but Strider will be important to the plot later on. I promise a long chapter next time!
