Charlie smirks and looks in my direction. "Can Olivia and I change? I can go with Yas and Olivia can go with Charlie?" I ask the teacher who shakes his head. "Charlie needs someone who gets his head at his work," he says. Charlie leans towards me. "I don't think putting us together is gonna work for that," he says and he winks.
Ugh.
"Can you come to my house on Wednesday? Then we can work on the project together," Charlie asks. I nod. "Sure," I say and I roll my eyes. "Maybe your crush is not out of your league anymore," Alex whispers teasingly. I shush him.

"Mum, I'm home," I shout when I walk through the door. "Do you want tea and cookies?" my mom asks. I can't say no to cookies. Cookie breaks are the best way to eat a lot of cookies without it being wrong. "Yeah, I'll be there in a minute," I shout.
I drop my bag in my room and run down. My mom made the tea and the cookies are on the table too. I grab a cookie and put it in my mouth. What did you think?! Of course I put it in my mouth, who puts a cookie in your nose. That's weird.
I take a sip of my tea and burn my mouth. Great. Now I can't take any cookies. Just kidding, you can always eat cookies. Even when your mouth is burned.
"So, honey, how was school?" my mother asks. "It was fine, I have to do a project with a classmate so I'm going to his house tomorrow" I state. "Okay," my mom says. "A 'he' huh? Is he nice?" my mother asks and she gives a small smirk.
I've never seen my mother smirking. This is definitely new.
"What do you mean?" I say, pretending like I don't get what she said. "Is the boy you have to work with nice?" my mother asks clearly. I nod and I grab a cookie. "Yeah, he's alright," I say while eating my delicious cookie, and I look outside. I don't want to see my mum's eyes right now.
She frowns. "Do you like him?" my mother asks. "What?! Mom! No! None of your business," I shout. "Alright, alright, I was just asking," she says and she chuckles. I sigh and grab another cookie. My mother stands up and walks to the kitchen and starts to sing.
"Who'd you think you're kidding, he's the earth and heaven to you. Try to keep it hidden, honey we can see right through you. Girl, you can't conceal it, we know how you're feeling. Who you're thinking of."
Oh my gosh. Can I trade my mum? Anyone? You can have her for free.
"I'm gonna work on my homework," I yell after her. "You swoon, you sigh, why deny it oh-oh," my mum sings in the kitchen. I grab another cookie and go upstairs. Don't mention that I eat too many cookies! Or I'll come to your house with Cookiemonster and we'll fight you.

I walk toward Charlie's house. Yes, I walk. I found out he lives quite close to me. Only four streets away from my house. He lives close to Yas as well. She lives ten streets away from me, six from Charlie. I wonder why I didn't meet them before.
Maybe then I'd be one of the cool kids instead of the Nerd.
Maybe.
I knock at the door and a woman opens the door. "Ah, you must be the girl from the project," the woman says. "I'm Edith, Charlie's mom," she continues. "Nice to meet you, miss-," I start when I realize that I don't know Charlie's last name.
"Oh, don't call me by my last name, Edith is fine," Edith says. I smile. "Okay, nice to meet you, Edith," I say. "Nice to meet you too...," Edith says and she thinks of my name but she doesn't know it. "Jennifer," I add. Edith smiles.
Edith walks to the staircase and yells to the first floor. "Charlie, Jennifer is here," she yells. "I'll be right there," I hear Charlie's voice shouting back. Edith rolls her eyes. "I know what that means," she says. "It means that he'll be here in ten minutes."
"Do you want something to drink, darling?" Edith asks. "Just a glass of water, please," I state. Edith walks to the kitchen to get me my glass of water and I take my time to look at the house.
It is a cozy house. It's a bit of an old English-style house. There is a lot of wood and leather. I walk into a room that looks like the living room. In the fireplace burns a wooden block. The fire gives a warm and welcoming feeling.
In one of the cupboards, there are a lot of pictures. Most are Charlie's. I grin when I see a little boy sitting in a firetruck. I look at one of the other pictures where Charlie really needs a haircut. Like really. I chuckle.
"You know, it's mean to laugh about someone," Charlie's deep voice says behind me. I didn't hear him coming in. I turn around and look straight into Charlie's eyes. They are beautiful.
"I- I know, I'm sorry, I was just looking at the pictures and-," I stutter but Charlie stops me. "It's okay, Nerd, don't be so nervous," he says. Edith walks in with my glass of water and gives it to me. "Thank you, Edith," I say.
Edith turns to her son. "Look, this is also a way to answer your mum," she says and I chuckle. Charlie turns red. "Bye mum," he states and he pushes her out of the room.
"Shall we go to my room?" Charlie suggests. "Yeah, sure," I say and I nod. "Okay, Nerd, follow me," he says and he walks to the staircase and runs up. I follow him, I'll always follow him if I have to.
Wait what?! Did I just really think that?! Can I unthink that?
Charlie walks into his room which is a dark place because of all the black walls and the few windows that don't give a lot of light. My eyes fall on a big lit aquarium with a lot of tropical fishes.
"Wow-," I say and I walk to the aquarium. "Oh, no, no, that's my sister's," Charlie says. "Do you have a sister?" I ask. "No, I meant my cousin's, she asked me to look after them while they're on a holiday," Charlie states and he turns red. "Well, I think it's cool," I state.
"So," Charlie starts, he wants to bring up another subject. "Do you want a muffin?" he asks. I roll my eyes. "Really?" I say angrily. "I'm sorry, I had to make the joke," Charlie laughs. "Although, I thought you were so fun and cute when you were high," he continues.
"You should do it more often," he smirks. "Uh, no, thank you," I state and I chuckle. "There was one thing not as good as I was hoping," Charlie continues. "What?" I ask. "You said I was a bad kisser," he says.
"Damn, Charlie, are you still sad about that?" I ask and I laugh. "Did you mean it?" he asks. "No, yes, I mean, I don't know, I don't remember kissing you," I say. Luckily.
"We could change that," he says. I frown. "What do you-," I start but I got cut off by soft lips touching mine.
Oh boy, they taste amazing. Like strawberry ice cream in Malibu.
Eek- yessss!!
From now on, there will be a lot more drama. I'm sorry for everything I'm gonna do to my beautiful characters oop-
Love, Anna <3
