POV Jenn
I walk after Charlie into the school. His face is shocked but still gorgeous. The teacher is walking in the front. It's our math teacher and I don't hate him, he's a good teacher. I'm so screwed.
I hope the school won't tell my parents. What would they think? They'd never let me go anywhere again. I'd lose all of their trust in me. All of their pride about me being their amazing nerdy daughter with great notes.
I was their trophy. They would hang me on the wall if they could. To show everyone how great I did at school.
Now, I'm nothing but a piece of shit. The shame of the family. I feel so bad. Why did I do this?!
I look at Charlie who turns around and our eyes meet. I immediately look away but Charlie slows down so he can walk next to me. He gently grabs my hand and holds it. I gasp. What is he doing?!
He said he doesn't like me! Why in the world is he holding my hand?! Is he playing with me? Does he think it's funny to tease me?
I pull my hand back but Charlie grabs it again. I look up into his beautiful eyes. He smiles slightly which makes the butterflies in my stomach wake up and fly in circles. I feel my cheeks turning dark red.
Oh Gosh.
We arrive at a small office and the teacher lets us go inside. He closes the door behind us and walks away. He's probably getting someone. What if he's already calling our parents? To call them that we got expelled.
Shit. I don't want to get expelled. I wanna go to university and get straight A's.
There goes my dream. I can see it flying away through the window. There goes all the money I was gonna earn and all the job offers which I was gonna get. Everyone would want me.
I ruined it. I ruined my future. By snuffing some stupid white powder.
I look at Charlie who's still holding my hand. He looks concerned at me. "We'll be okay," he says. I smile but I still feel terrified. Charlie gently squeezes my hand. "Hey, Nerd, don't stress, okay? We've been here before, the teachers are too pushy to do anything against us," he says.
"Really?," I ask with a broken voice. "Really," Charlie states. He leans forward and kisses me on my lips. Not that long because the teacher interrupts by opening the door. I look at Charlie confused.
"From who is this?" the teacher asks and he holds up a package with the remaining powder. "It's mine, sir," Davey says. "Davey, c'mon, you know you can't use this at school," the teacher says. "I'm sorry, sir," Davey replies.
"I guess you understand that we have to take this from you?" the teacher asks. Davey nods. "Okay, then that's it. All of you, don't do this again. It's really bad for you," the teacher says and he looks around. I don't look into his eyes when he stares at me.
"Okay, you can go," the teacher says and we start walking out of the office. "Jennifer, can you stay a bit longer?" the teacher asks and I nod. "I'll wait outside for you," Charlie says and I smile.
When all the others are out of the office, the teacher closes the door again. "Jennifer," he starts and he sighs. "I can understand it when those students use this poison, but I never thought you'd use it too," he continues.
"You're smart enough to know that you shouldn't do this kind of thing. I really didn't think that you'd use it."
"To be honest, me neither, sir," I state. The teacher smiles. "Then why did you do it?" he asks. I can hear the disappointment in his voice. I sigh. "I don't know, it's like everyone hates me and they don't hate me when I do stupid things."
The teacher looks at me in pity. "It's hard to belong, I know. But believe me, it's way better to go your own way. You are the brightest student I've ever seen. Use that cleverness. The others will be jealous. They're just not yet," he says.
"Thank you," I say. The teacher opens the door. "You can go, just remember that you don't have to do everything the other students do," he says. I smile and walk out of the office.
Charlie stands against the wall. He looks up from his phone when I walk through the door. He walks toward me and grabs my hands. There we are. In the middle of the hallway.
"Why did you do that?" I ask. "Do what?" Charlie asks. "Kissing me," I say. "Do you want to tease me, do you want to play with me?" I ask. "No, no, no," he says. "Then why did you do that?" I ask.
"I- I like you," he says. I roll my eyes. "Yeah, sure," I say. "Monday you laughed about the fact that I liked you. You broke my heart. And now you're saying that you do like me? I'm not that crazy, Charlie."
Charlie looks at the floor. "I do like you, I did like you Monday but I was too scared for the reaction of my friends," he says. "I'm so sorry if I hurt you," he adds.
Tears fill my eyes. "You do like me?" I ask. Charlie smiles. "Yeah, a lot," he says. "I like you too," I say.
Charlie leans forward and I do the same. I stare straight into his eyes as our lips come closer. When our lips touch, I close my eyes. My mind explodes at the touch. Or maybe that's still because of the powder.
Charlie moves his hand to the back of my hand and holds it gently. I wrap my arms around him as he deepens the kiss.
"So," Charlie says after our kiss. "Does this mean that you're my girlfriend?" he asks. I smile. "Yeah, I guess so," I say. Charlie smiles back and kisses me again.
Soooooooo, don't you think they're cute together?!
Thanks for reading!! It means a lot to me!
