" Gentlemen stop!" he yells to the workers who were fixing the train. Even I stopped moving at his command, and I'm not even a gentleman. " Sir, we need to get all the passengers back on the train." one of them says. " Not right now you don't." I told the worker. " You will retire away from the train until I tell you to return." Poirot adds, and the workers back away while looking at us quite strangely. At this point I'm too exhausted to care.
We walk to the tunnel where everyone looks at us. The scarf holds his arm like a sling, but it is still noticeable. " Lily, go sit down." Poirot asks. " Nope." I reply, and he just shrugs, understanding where I'm coming from. He begins, " You tell your lies, and you think no one will know. But there are three people who will know. Yes, three people. Your God, the 14 year old child which I think should say something about your lying skills, and Hercule Poirot. It is time to solve this case." he says, and he cocks the gun, pointing it at the people in front of him. " And you wonder why I didn't sit with them?" I mumble sarcastically.
As we walk toward them I look at their faces. They all look collectively guilty, but also sad. Like depressed. Poirot starts, " Dr. Arbuthnot asked me why I was not yet dead? He knew of course the answer. A sharpshooter who does not kill at close range? Your shot was not a mistake, it was a surgery. You could not kill me because you are no killer." he states, and Arbuthnot looks down in shame while Miss Debenham puts an arm around him. " None of you are killers. And yet someone must be." Poirot states, pauses then continues. " There are two possible solutions to the crime. One difficult because it fits with most, but not all of the facts, and one more, complex." he tells the suspects. I move to sit by the edge of the tunnel, far enough away from the suspects as Poirot begins.
" The first solution. Ratchett had enemies. A rogue Mafioso steals on the train at Vinkovci as Macqueen and Arbuthnot take the air. Equipped with a uniform and a passkey he stabs Ratchett, he leaves through Mrs. Hubbard's compartment, and makes his escape." Poriot states, and I shoot up. I was not expecting that, to be sure. Mr. Bouc argues with him asking about who did all the stuff after he supposedly escaped. " You know that's not it, detective." I add, calmly, playing with a bit of snow in my hand. " Would you like to state the second solution then, since you know it so well?" he asks, and I look up, eyes wide. I stand up next to him, look at all the suspects, and just say, " You all did it. Poirot can explain the rest". I sit back down, knees to my chest as Poirot begins with the second solution.
