Katie narrates: Have you ever heard of blood? It may run through our veins.
Katie is holding Elisa's phone, so she won't call the hospital as Elisa screams, "He really needs a doctor." Katie replies, "Please call someone, but not the hospital." Elisa states, "Like who?" Katie asserts, "I don't know." Elisa calms down and adds, "I'm going to start to think you're a criminal if you don't explain." Austin sighs, and Katie knew she had to be the one to do it; she knew that she had to tell the truth, so she says, "I'm Katie Colton; I went missing in another country after a car accident; the other car family kidnapped me; I went into a week-long coma; I got out of the coma and built a life with them as my family; I lost my memory; but then I got my memory back and realized they lied and ran away; now the dad is trying to kill me.".Elisa replies, "If you were in a coma, how do you remember so much?" Katie asserts, "This photo triggered my memories, and they told me." She saw the conditions they were in, so she stated, "Sorry, I even asked; I'll call my friend Ethan immediately." She runs to the back, and Austin adds, "I'll go see if I see any signs of the others." As he walks out to look, Katie holds Felix's hand and says, "Can you feel it?"
He shakes his head and says, "Yeah..." Katie couldn't help but cry; she barely got sleep, and so much as happened, she leans her head on his hand and states, "I'm sorry I got you into this." Felix asserts,
"No, Katie, I could've stayed in school with my family, but I chose you." Katie adds, "Now we're going to die." Felix says, "I remember when I was little. We didn't have enough money to get food, but we had water, a house, lights... And my mom worked day and night for that. She always said that we don't have the world, but we have each other, and you might think that's cheesy, but I really love my mom, and yeah, Katie, I miss them every day, but it's not a day I regret my decision. " Katie smiles at him. She admires his bravery; that was her favorite thing about him. Elisa walks back to them and chimes in, "He's on his way." Katie hugs her and says, "Thank you."
Katie narrates, but there's more to it than meets the eye.
[Outside]
Ria angrily says, "What are you doing here?" Her dad left when he was younger; he chose his company and money over her and his marriage to her mom. He replies, "I heard about your mom." Ria laughs and asserts, "Why do you care that you left us?" Gilbert looks into her eyes with care and adds, "I know, and I'm sorry." She didn't trust or believe him, so she states, "What's the difference? She's dead; I have no more family left." He touches her shoulder, then she shakes his hand off, and he says, "You have me, Ria. You can't go through this alone; the whole town is looking for you, and you're on a suicide mission. I can't let you die. I already lost your mom."She replies, "No, I lost my mom; you left and you chose to lose her years ago." He states, "Let me explain," she yells, "leave Gilbert," he asserts," no, you cannot accept me mentally, but physically, I won't go anywhere." She sighs, "Fine." As she walks to Carlos, he realizes she had that look in her eyes that every child gives their parent when they are hurt by their actions, which is hurt disguised as anger.
Carlos looks at her and says, "So what's happening?" She irritatedly replies, "He's going to follow us. " Willow chimes in with a smile: "I think it's sweet that he cares." Ria muffles with anger, "That's not care." Willow leans against the car as she states,
I'm just saying, my dad is out killing and kidnapping, and yours is... not giving up." She couldn't help but be angry at Willow for her statement; her dad may not be Dan, but he left her. Cody asserts, "Yeah, I know what you mean; mine is helping your dad and trying to convince us it's for the family."Willo laughs as she adds, "Great, so we all have dad issues." Ria couldn't believe they were making a joke out of the situation. She gets that they're just trying to cope, but it wasn't a joke. Her dad wasn't a great guy; the only difference was he wouldn't kill physically; he preferred to kill mentally. She says, "Can we just get into the car?" As she gets in, Carlos agrees, "Everyone gets in; Katie, here we come." As he gets into the driver's seat, Willow and Cody get into the two backseats.
Katie narrates, "Sometimes it means family."
[By a building]
When Johnny wakes up, he sees that Dana is up, fidgeting with her broken phone, and he says, "You didn't sleep?" She replies with weary sleepy eyes, "hard to sleep on a dirty grassy ground," but she gives him a smile, as he asserts, "agreed." Dana then looks over to Haylee snoring and adds, "But Haylee is doing it great." Johnny states as he stands up, "We should wake her up, so we could get moving; Katie can't be far from here." Dana, in her whole life of being Haylee's best friend, never saw anyone wake her up, so she steps back and says, "While you do that, I'm going to stand back." Johnny kneels down to wake her. When he gets closer to touching her, she turns around, smiling as she asserts, "Johnny." He was already terrified of that smile, but he slowly replies, "Yes." She quickly stops smoking and states, "If you touch me, I'll beat you with that stick. Okay?" Johnny stands up and sighs, "Okay," as Dana adds, "guess she's sleeping."
Johnny picks up the stick; he knew Haylee was just most likely putting on a show; she wasn't going to hurt him; she just likes for everyone to be terrified of her. He found it kind of sweet, and he pokes her with it as he states, "If you don't get up, we're going to leave you." Haylee sarcastically says, "Oh no, don't leave me... How tragic that I won't see you ever again." Dana crosses her arms in offense as she chimes in,
"Hey, what about me?" Haylee smiles, making herself more comfortable on the grass, as she asserts, "Some sacrifices have to be made." Dana knew Haylee only played to hate shopping, but she really loved it, so she added "Johnny will buy you whatever you want,"Haylee quickly stands up as Johnny replies, "Eal." Johnny sighs and rolls his eyes.
[in the car]
Arthur looks at Mily. After a month of trying to drown in guilt, it was really starting to get to him. He really loved her. He didn't want to put her through so much, but she had no choice. He says, "After this is over, did you really mean we're getting a divorce?" Mily looks at him, and she sees his eyes. A part of her wanted to forgive him, but she couldn't. She sadly but angrily replies, "Arthur, you kidnapped me, you hurt our son, you killed someone, and you let our daughter get hurt, so yeah, I mean it." Arthur felt frustrated. "Why couldn't she just let things be okay? Why couldn't they mess up?" he yells.
"What don't you get, Mily? I did it for you." Mily can't believe she even second-guesses her divorce decision. Arthur wasn't himself anymore; he was a monster. The old Arthur never yelled at her. She states, in a voice that cracks and whispers,
"No, you did it for yourself, because you're selfish, you're manipulative, and you need help." He didn't break eye contact with her the whole time, and he didn't even have slight tears in his eyes; he was giving her a cold stare.
Anna was used to fixing things, even at home; she's the reason her parents are married, fixing all of their relationship problems, so she chimes in to cut their ties. "Please, guys, today is for Katie and Cody; let's find them, not argue; after this, we could just go back to normal; we could talk; just please stop." Mily felt bad that Anna was just dragged into all of their mess the entire time; she gives her a smile as she asserts, "Sorry, you're right."
[At Elisa's house]
Elisa's friend Ethan was a doctor, and she called him to come hours ago, but he finally got there. He walks in and says, "Hey, I got here as soon as I could." Elisa replies, "What should we do?" When he sees Felix laying on the couch looking very pale, weak, and dehydrated, he screams out of the door, "Come in, bring everything we have." The guys come through the door with real hospital equipment, which made Katie less worried about not bringing him to a real hospital, as some set up the rook in the back downstairs, the others lift Felix to the room, and Ethan states, "We'll be out soon; I'll need you both to stay here" as he walks to the room and closes the door.
Katie drags a chair by the hallway so she could know when they were done, as she bites her nails, from anxiety. This was her first time experiencing anxiety; usually she doesn't feel anxiety because she's always been just as social as she was a bookworm; it was easy to make friends; it was kind of always easy for her; now someone might die from trying to save her. Elisa sits by her, trying to comfort her. She could tell Katie was nervous; she looks like her when she was in college. Before an exam, she says, "Is that your boyfriend?" Austin looks at Katie, hoping she said no; he really liked her, but Katie replies, "Something like that." Elisa rubs her back softly as she states, "Don't worry, he'll be fine. Ethan is the best doctor I know." Austin's heart just broke in a way as he walked out of the little hallway part.
to the living room and Elisa follows him. He sits down and asserts, "You like her, don't you?" Austin palms himself as he adds, "Why does it matter? They always go for the ones like Felix; he's got a great sob story, good looks, and well, I'm Austin." Elisa understood why Austin felt that way; so did she most of her life. Why would anyone want a good person? But after hearing Katie's story, she understood why she would be confused or in love, maybe both. She sits by him and looks him in the eyes as she says, "Well, Austin... You're handsome, and do me a favor, don't hate Katie for loving; after all, she's been through. Be glad she still even tries to love." She holds his hand in comfort, and he gives her a small, sad but glad smile as he replies, "Thanks, I'll remember that." Elisa unholds his hand and then writes on a piece of paper with a pen as she hands it to him and states, "Call me sometimes." He takes the number and smirks.
Katie narrates: "Sometimes it means we're losing our lives."
[In Alaska]
Izzy and Laura search the diner for an answer since the last time they were able to track Carlos, and Laura picks up Carlos' broken watch, which seems like it was stolen, so she says, "This means Carlos was here," as Laura replies, "keyword was." Izzy looks at the cop car keys on the ground, and the car is parked halfway. As she states, "But he took another car," Laura curiously looks around and asserts, "So that means either he's kidnapped or..." She realizes the gun on the floor wasn't Carlo's because he told her he's a riffle guy; it was definitely someone else's,
