chapter 29, (ending)

Katie narrates, 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓

Outside)
Haylee states, "Why are we chasing Alain?" Johnny replies, "Alain wasn't the party planner; I just got a call from the real party planner." Dana asserts, "Why would they need to fake a party planner?" Katie palms herself as she sighs, "I don't know... Not only to distract us, but Haylee chimes in, "Alain was counting down to something." Austin adds, "So was Elisa." While everyone was reminiscing and thinking,
"Wasn't a bomb going to have noticed?" Felix said.
Ria then noticed something weird that happened; she turned to Cody and whispered, "Cody, when was this text from Anna?" Cody replies, "Afternoon sometime yesterday, why?" Ria states, "There's no way Anna could've left with a car and been back in a whole other country in one day; it took us three." Izzy asserts, "She's still in the house; I've seen a case like this before."

(In basement)
Anna kicks the trunk while gasping for air. She tries to scream, but all she can get out are his whispers. Her eyes slowly close as she can feel her lungs tighten from no longer being able to intake oxygen. Cody busts into the basement, and as everyone follows closely behind, they begin to search everywhere: the weirdly looking chest, the covered-up furniture, Cody sighs in relief: "She made it out; she had to; she's not here." Izzy then notices that the only thing that wasn't checked was the car trunk, which was locked. She and Carlos were both looking, so she kind of knew they were both thinking the same thing. Carlos grabs a shovel and sticks it under the car trunk. He starts trying to pry it open as Izzy kneels by it to help. Eventually everyone joins in and manages to open it up. Cody screams "Anna" as he looks at her weak, pale body. She appeared to not be breathing, but Izzy feels her wrist and states, "Pulse slowly." Ria pushes down on her chest to open her airway, which causes Anna to gasp really loudly as she starts to breathe. Cody asserts, "Hey, you scared me." She hugs him.

Ria stares and says, "Okay guys, it's time to dress. Everyone needs to get out these dumb suits and dresses because this is the ending." Katie replies, "I failed Ria; we lost; we literally lost; there's nothing to look forward to; Elisa knows everything because I was too slow to notice." Johnny states, "If you want to be fair, none of us knew anything at all."

Ria smiles at Katie as she says, "She doesn't know everything." Katie replies, "That's right, Elisa isn't a leader; all we have to do is change the team's plan." Cody holds Anna close as she's still weak; her lips were dried and her skin was pale; her cheeks were the only thing with color. He then asserts, "What about Anna? She can't go to the battle harmed." Katie states, "Anna will have to go to the police station where it's safe." Cody looks at Katie and says, "Turn herself in." Katie articulates, "Yeah, she's not a murderer." Cody says, "She's turning herself in as a victim; don't worry." He then kisses Anna and gives her the burner phone of his and says, "Here, call 911 and wait there; promise me you will." Anna replies, "Only if you promise me you'll be safe."


Haylee grabs the phone from Ana and calls 911. As she states, "There, I did it. You guys are making me sick." Johnny nods his head. "I rarely agree, but I agree." Dana chimes in, "I think it's romantic."
Ria asserts, "Who cares about opinions right now?" as she reaches her hand out for Cody, "Let's leave." He then takes her hand and immediately walks out. Something about the way they held hands and how quick he was to take them made Anna sad. She then answers the 911 operator, who kept saying hello, "This is Anna Green, the missing person from the Katie Colton case."

Katie narrates, but what happens at the end?

Outside of the house
Katie says, "What's the plan now? We have 12 hours, and we need somewhere safe to be." Ria replies, "I say Richie Rich gets us a hotel room, and we relax until the battle, or at least a little before the battle; we've been up nonstop with only 2 hours of sleep." Katie states, "Good idea." They get inside the van, and Johnny starts to drive.

4 hours later.

(Inside the van)
As Johnny drives through the hallway to the fancy hotel he brought to rest, almost everyone seems to be about to go to sleep. Willo then says, "So you mean to tell me we have 8 hours till this battle and we're going to rest at a fancy hotel?" Johnny replies, "Well, the house isn't safe anymore; this is the only choice." Ria realizes that Cody is moping against the window, so she grabs his hand, and he looks at her with a smile as he holds her hand. She looks around to see that Katie was lying on Austin, and Haylee was holding Dana as she leaned against her. Izzy was asleep by Carlos, and Felix was asleep alone, while Amber rested beside Johnny in the passenger seat, and Mily and Arthur were sitting asleep as he drove. She then stated, "How can anyone sleep? We're literally on the verge of dying."

(At Dan's spot)
Dan hugs Elisa and states, "Good job, Eli." Elisa nods. "Thank you, uncle." Dan asserts, "You too, Alain." Alain says, "No problem; it was easy, although I wish I had kissed the emo girl." Dan grips his hand tight into a fist before he punches Alain. Alain then holds his nose from the blood on it as he shouts, "Ouch, what the hell?" Elisa gives him a smile after Dan replies, "Keep your lips off my niece." Dan states, "Get ready, this is the end; no more problems; back to my billionaire life; Elisa back to her billionaire life; and Alain back to France." Alain says angrily, "No problem; you still owe me $12 million," Dan replies. "Of course that too," one of Dan's guards chimes in. "Sir, we did what you asked." He smiles as he asserts, "Great, we're one step closer."

Katie narrates, "Friendship𝒊𝒑?

(At the hotel)
Everyone is standing up in the lobby, and Katie states, "Listen up, I know we're all sleepy, and we didn't just pay for a five-star hotel not to sleep, but we gotta now beat Dan in seven and a half hours, so I need you all to wake up and pull it together now!" If we don't, we might lose our lives in the mist of justice." It was silent. She starts to feel alone again. She gets that it wasn't as serious to everyone as it was to her. Ria smiles, replying, "We're in." Haylee asserts, "Yeah, we're in." Johnny says, "That's why I ranted out the whole hotel; did you notice there are no workers? And I hired a professional team to train us; you're not the only one taking this seriously." She sighs in relief.

(1:25pm)
The training men stand behind Amber as she says, "Listen up, team ligers; you might've noticed we're outside, and we've been in charge of guns. Our skills are courage and determination; not only can we fight, but we pull the trigger faster than any other team." Haylee replies, "Yeah, we're aware." The training men chimed in, "You don't talk to your leader that way; drop and give us 10." Haylee rolls her eyes and says, "Whatever," and then gets to the ground and does pushups. As Amber states, "We don't need cold feet, and one of us here never pulled a trigger." They all immediately look to Johnny, and Johnny scoffs, "Come on? I can easily pull the trigger." Arthur gives him the gun and asserts, "Prove it." Johnny remembers the target practice that Dan and Vanessa used to take him to when he was little. He squints his eyes and aims at the tree that the men had drawn target circles around. Everyone looks to him and says, "Here I go." Arthur nods, "Ok." He mumbles, "Here I go." Haylee gets off the ground from doing pushups and states, "I need me to help you with that, sweetheart." She smiles at him, and he shoots the gun and lands it perfectly in the middle. She replies with a bigger smile, "No thanks, princess." She then rolls her eyes.

Carlos gasps, "Woah, not even in police training have we gotten that straight." He gives Johnny a high-five, and Johnny proudly hits his hand. The training men then yell, "Everyone, grab a gun and get to shooting."

Outside of the house
As a set of training men stands behind Ria, she asserts, "Team bears, we're the most skilled; our weapons are our bodies; we fight better than any other team; that's why we've secured the full bulletproof suit, including mask." Willo stands there in shock before she says, "Since when do they make those?" Ria shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know." Austin states, "Some high-tech rich shit Johnny brought, I bet." Mily replies, "I've got this, right, Isabella?" Izzy nods. "Yeah," the man chimes in, "this team is too relaxed; you need to step up and set some rules; your weapon is your body; your moves are the bullets." He signals the other training men to bring in punching bags. Ria states, "Punching bags, this is easy," and the training man replies, "Level one training; next will be my men."

Katie narrates, "Love𝒆?

(outside of the car)
The training men stand behind Cody as he says, "Team Birds, we're the first to go; our skill is our brain, and our weapon is the ability to be vulnerable and sweet; our secret advantage is manipulation and being emotionally dangerous. Dana replies, "Ready." Felix states, "Let's do this." The leader of the training men chimes in, "Yeah, words can be distracting, but they're definitely not strong enough. You will need to learn how to run; if you can't beat them, be faster." He signals his men to chase after them; he then states, "If they catch you, they're tackling." They all immediately started to run.

(2:37pm)
Team leaders learn how to shoot. As the men dress in the bulletproof suits Johnny brought, they learn how to dodge, duck, run, and fight back if they drop the gun.
(3:56pm)
Team bears learn how to dodge bullets, how to fight in all styles, and how to dodge punches, kicks, and other things, as well as how to run.
(4:30pm)
Team birds learn how to run, dodge, and jump the highest; they also learn how to talk and distract in any situation.

Katie signals team birds to go first, and as the rest drive closely behind them, she knows it is too early for the battle, for they had to be early to catch Dan off guard.

(At Dan's spot)
As soon as Cody, Dana, and Felix get to the gate, Dan comes out without him, but besides Elisa, Cody approaches her and says, "Hey." Elisa signals the men to open it, and she sighs in relief. She knew Team Bird's plan; they weren't going to do anything new. Cody walks in as Elisa states, "Oh, they've sent team birds! What a mistake!" Cody replies, "I'm not here by Katie's hand; I'm here for my girlfriend, whom you killed." Elisa asserts, "If anything, I was doing you a favor; she's too clingy and in love, while you're in love with Ria." Cody says, "You don't get too decided for me." She laughs as she sees that the team bird only came. Felix states, "You'll pay for what you did to Katie; tell your dad to come fight me himself." Elisa laughs out, "I'll never understand why Katie picked you." Dana replies, "You tricked me." Elisa asserts, "Oh, please, you tricked yourself; it was half an effort."

Katie narrates, "Hatete𝒆?

Elisa sighs in boredom as she says, "Men, this is your fight." Cody replies, "Elisa, you don't have to be like him. I know you don't know what your dad was like, but I bet it's because Dan killed him. It's not too late to be part of Team Bird!" Elisa's eyes soften; for a second, Cody sees the heartstring he tugged and states, "Shut up, you know nothing about my-" Cody screams, "Lewis Hicks!" She starts to remember her father; he was always against Dan's decisions. She then looks away and asserts, "Take them away." The men grab all of them, and Cody yells, "You don't have to work for Dan." The men muffled, "Shut up, kid." Cody states, "I'm just saying." The man grabs Cody's arm and separates him from the rest. As he says, "Okay, this one gets on my nerves; I'll take him to another room." They take Dana and Felix to a room inside and take Cody across the hall from it.

(Outside)
Elisa wipes her tears as she sighs, but then Ria pops up behind her and says, "Hey." Elisa quickly turns around and says, "Oh, team bears, now this is a fight." She snaps her finger for the women to come out, and Austin replies, "You bet it is." She once saw determination mixed with hate in Austin's eyes; usually when he looked at her, it was nothing but care and protection. Willo runs to Elisa and punches her. After she does, she tries to kick her, but she dodges it, grabs her shoulders, and kicks her in the stomach. Ria begins to fight with the women who came out; two of the women begin to crowd Austin; he then states, "I can't fight them," so Izzy grabs the first woman and starts to lock her;; she then spins around and kicks her with the other leg; when the other woman grabs her from behind, Mily then grabs the woman who has Izzy from behind and snaps her neck.

Izzy looks at her and says, "Katie is so lucky," as Mily helps her up. Mily gives her a smile, then Ria continues fighting the women against her as she adds, "I wonder where's Cody?" Izzy and Mily notice that Elisa is beating Willo, so they go over to help. She may appear to be weak, but she's the fastest person ever, as she easily beat all three of them.

Katie narrates, Chaosos𝒔

(Dan's spot)
(Dan's room)
Katie opens the door to where Dan was as she says, "Hey, I thought I'd find you here." Dan replies, "By yourself." Katie states, "What else is there to beat your ass?" He walks closer to her as she asserts, "Katie, how's your head? I was once your dad. A part of you has to feel for me. One day you're going to find yourself asking, "Who do you like the most, Katie Wilburs or Katie Colton?" She angrily muffles, "Stop talking." Dan adds with his cruel laughter, "Katie, life is never going to be the same for you. Katie Wilburs will always be stronger than Katie Colton." Katie shakes her head and says, "You're wrong."

Katie narrates heartbreaks.𝒌𝒔

(In the hallway)
Man looks to Cody and says, "this is where you're staying" he holds Cody handcuffed behind his back, it Cody head hits his making him groan in pain as he kicks him into the room as he replies, "more like you" and quickly shut the door, he then runs to the side as the third man walks by, he then see's that 4 guards are in the control room, but man 3 walks by against, and Cody was surprised he missed him as he was almost more than noticable on the wall, Cody runs to the control room, he puts a mask, as guard 1 was watching the cameras all he gets out is, "someone-" before Cody rolls a trick bomb cutting him off, causing all them to pass out, he quickly turns off the lights on the control, Dana whispers to Felix, "that's the signal" the guards notices the lights went out, and now they lost track of Dana and Felix, but then dana pushes the guards down the stairs by the alarm, as they use the sharp edges of the stairs to cut the ropes off their arms.

Katie Narrates, 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏

(Outside)
Elisa tries to shoot Willo, but somehow the bullet bounces off their suit. Willo laughs, "Shout out to Johnny, these suits work." Elisa is now surrounded, and she says, "What the hell is going on?" Ria replies, "Wow, you don't know, and here I go thinking you were smart." Elisa states, "They're distracting us, Alain!" Alain comes out with more men and guns, Amber flying her helicopter to the roof, to the men that seem to be awaiting them. As soon as they land, Carlos, Johnny, and Haylee immediately get out.

(Rooftop)
Amber says, "We'll hold them off, Arthur, Haylee, and Johnny. Go help them down there." She then fights with the men; she kicks one with her heels and punches the other with her fist. As Carlos shoots beside her, Amber rolls over him and shoots the other one. Carlos states, "Remind me why you didn't want to be a cop." Amber replies, "What's the point of being talented if it goes unnoticed?" The man Amber thought she killed grabs her foot and makes her fall. Carlos tries to get him to let her go by fighting with him.

Katie narrates, things𝒔

(In the inside)
Katie says, "Dan, this is between me and you; stop stalling." He replies, "Fine, Katie; you should've taken the deal." He grabs the knife beside him, and Katie tries to punch him, but he dodges it quickly. She manages to kick him, but he only does a little damage as he punches her. She groans in pain. He walks towards her, and she trips him and pushes his head towards the wall.

(Outside)
Willo continues fighting with the people, as Arthur backs her up by shooting, while Ria and Haylee do the same thing, side by side. Mily manages to lose her balance as the people who were attacking her start to win. Arthur then shoots her. Elisa and Haylee start to fight, and although Elisa is faster, Haylee is clearly stronger. Elisa screams, "They're winning." Then she catches Haylee off guard by having one of her people grab her from behind. As she breaks her leg, Willo notices, so she grabs the gun and points it at Elisa and shoots her shoulder, which causes her to fall to the ground. Haylee then looks up at Willo and says, "Thanks, Willo. I didn't know you had the courage." Willo replies, "What can I say? I owe it to you, and you're an important friend to me." She then helps her up, and Izzy states, "Where's Johnny?" I haven't seen him once."

(Rooftop)
Carlos shoots the man off Amber's leg, but after his legs go, Amber tips backward and falls off the cliff. Carlos runs to her and manages to catch her hand before she falls, and he screams, "HELP! "Someone," Amber says, holding his hand tighter than ever, as she says, "Carlos, you have to help them let me go." He states, "No, don't say that," as he throws the gun out of his other hand and pulls her up with them. And when he pulls her up, she hugs him, and Carlos hugs back.

(inside the room)
Dan punches Katie repeatedly. Katie manages to push him off her and stands up weakly. He then says, "When will you give up?" and she replies, "When I die." Dan then kicks her. Katie hits her back on the wall and falls down. He then states, "This is the end, huh?" He gets on top of her and pulls out the knife with a smile.

(inside the hall)
Dana hears footsteps behind her, and she immediately runs to the side. Felix and Cody hide in a room. Dana turns around to see the footsteps getting closer, and Johnny puts his hand over her mouth. She screams and slaps him. Johnny says, "It's just me. Ouch!" As he moves his hand from her mouth, Dana replies, "You scared me." Johnny then states, "Where's Katie?" Dana asserts, "In the room close to the top." Johnny adds,
"Thanks," he then pulls her into a kiss and states, "sorry just in case I don't make it back and... She kisses him, cutting him off as she replies, "Good luck." Johnny runs upstairs.

(in the room)
Dan smiles as he holds the knife to Katie's throat. "This is the last face you'll ever see." She pushes him off her and tries to crawl out because she's too weak to stand, but he kicks her onto her back and says, "You lost." Katie sees Johnny behind Dan and replies, "No, I won." Johnny then hits Dan repeatedly in the head with a gun. As he states, "You know, you always told me not to bring a knife to a gun fight, and here we are." He then holds the gun close to Dan. Dan shouts in fear, "Son, don't pull the trigger." He then cries, "You know that no matter where you go, everyone will think of you as a hick; you can't run from your legacy. I never wanted to be this way." Johnny states, "Save it, Dan. I'm nothing like you. I'm not a hick, I'm not a Wilbur, I'm me. You would kill me. You never loved me. I want you to go to hell. You mean nothing to me. If I were in this situation, you would kill me. He grabs Dan by the shirt and looks into his eyes as she shouts, "Wouldn't you?" Dan replies, "No, of course not." Johnny's eyes tear up as he asserts, "Dad, tell me the truth." Dan muffles, "Yeah."

Johnny lets go of his shirt and puts the gun down. As he states, "Luckily, I'm not like you." He then goes to Katie to hug her when they hear the police sirens.
