LUZ WAKES UP AT THE SOUND of her phone is buzzing on her nightstand, and reaches over King to grab it, unplugging it from her makeshift charger and nuzzling back into her sleeping bag. She sleepily looks at her screen, and her eyes go wide, now fully awake after reading it.
She sits up, and looks to Ember's sleeping bag, but it's empty. Luz sucks in her bottom lip and stares at her phone, and ignores the event reminder, lying back down and trying to fall asleep again to forget about today.
Down in the kitchen, Ember stirs hot chocolate in the small pot, making it as a treat for Luz. She knows today is gonna be especially hard for her, considering she isn't with Camila and she's stuck with just Ember this year.
She had her own event happening today but knew it wasn't as life-changing as Luz's was, so she pushed her issues aside and decided to focus on Luz today.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she pulled it out to look at the notification that says, "Event with Matteo and Mom <3". Her gaze lingers on the screen for a moment before squeezing her eyes shut, and shaking her head.
Sighing, she turned off the stove and poured the hot chocolate into a mug, using a wind spell to cool it off, and heads back upstairs to her room.
Ember peeks her head in, still in her pajamas as she approaches her friend with a cup of hot chocolate in her hands. She kicks the door shut softly, and kneels beside Luz's head.
"Hey, Sunshine." She smiles gently, and Luz pokes her head up. Ember sets the cup down and helps her sit up again. "How are you?"
Luz sighs, and Ember holds out the cup to her. She takes it and takes a sip and they scoot onto Ember's sleeping bag to not wake King up.
"Not very great." Luz taps her fingers against the mug.
"Well, we can do whatever you want to distract you today." Ember smiles, rubbing her hand over Luz's back soothingly. She thinks for a moment, then smiles. "I know you and your mom pick flowers for each other, so why don't we go out and find some?"
"Really?" Luz asks her, and Ember nods. Luz leans her head on Ember's shoulder and sighs heavily.

EDA AND ATLANTES PEEK AROUND the corner with King on Eda's head, staring at the girls (specifically Luz) and being slightly worried about them.
