Chapter Twelve || HER DAD

The two run, as fast as they can, excitement and nervousness is what they feel.

Entering the room, they notice how the three circle around his bed, seems like they are talking about something serious.

Panting, she tried herself not to cry and shout at her father. Opening his arms, she run towards him, hugging each other.

"Lia." She heard him saying her name, and soon enough a sob came out her mouth. Making the other people inside the room rather alarmed or sad.

"Why you didn't tell me?" She ask breaking the hug before sitting down on the chair near the bed. Her mom already left with the others leaving the two inside, as they need to talk about something.

"I don't want to bother you." He softly said, holding his daughter hands. While she was looking down, crying.

"Dad." She called softly, "Why did you lie?" She ask, looking up at him, seeing him smiling fondly at her.

"I want you to marry when I'm still here." He said tucking some of her hair strands behind her ear.

"Don't say that. You'll live long, you'll still need to walk with me when I graduate at college. You'll still need to see me achieving my dreams." She said, as his father only shook his head at her.

"We didn't know, what's waiting for me, Lia. As much as I don't want you to marry, someone you don't love, I wanted you to marry someone who I know that will take care of you." He reasoned.

"That's not an acceptable reason, you know dad." She chuckled lightly, sniffing.

"I know." He also chuckle. Silence engulfed the two. No one bother to talk. It's been so long since the two talk like this.

Minutes past, her dad talk, catching her off guard.

"I'll cancel the engagement." He said, making her shock.

"B-but dad, why?" She ask, surprised that her dad will back out the agreement.

"For you, I know that you still doesn't want th-" She cut what her dad wanna say, as she knows where it'll go.

"I like him, dad." With that words, her father is now the one who's shock.

"What?" He ask dumbfounded. Trying to find humor on her, but instead seeing those, he saw sincerity on her eyes. She's smiling widely while thinking the boy.

"I already like him way before you arranged us." She started. Remembering that he's in her class, rarely talk to him since his introvert and doesn't like to interact with other people, but surprisingly they clicked.

"I know him since 7th grade, I've been looking for him ever since, I don't know I just found him attractive at first, but I then realized that I like him.

"I didn't talk to him, nor approach him. I just watch him from afar. And then the next thing that I knew is I accidentally bump into him. And we became friends, since he's also my regular costumer at cafe.

"Then surprisingly, you called and told me that we will have a family dinner, which is I already have an idea why. And I was shock at first when I saw him. But I did set aside my feelings that day, because I don't want him to feel uncomfortable with me.

"But he's the one who engage the idea to continue." She narrated while smiling. Her father watch him with nothing but adoration in his eyes.

"Do you wanted to continue the arrangement?" He ask her making her smile fade.

"Better not continue it dad. I don't think Soobin wanted me." She answered painfully.

"Did you ask him what he feel about you?" He ask her, and she shook her head, looking down on her shoe before bitting her lip.

She didn't know what to do. She like him, but she doesn't know if he like her too.

"Why don't you ask him?" Her dad told her.

"I'm afraid, what if I'll get rejected? What if he-"

"Clear those what if's. Those will not help you. If he'll reject you, it's fine. If he doesn't like you, it's his lose. Just wait for a meantime, try to know each other more, and you'll know, what do you two truly feels. And if, he doesn't like you, let's cancel the engagement." He said to her making her nod her head before hugging each other again.

"Thanks dad." She whispered.

"You're welcome, Darling. I love you remember that." He whispered back.

"I love you too."

"I'll bring you back at your apartment." He told her once they finished talking. The visiting hours at the hospital is already done, so they doesn't have any choice but to leave the hospital.

She just nodded before walking with him. She didn't bother to talk, still thinking about what her dad told her.

They arrived at the parking lot. His parents already left, so they are the only one inside his car.

Getting a little sleepy, she decided to take a nap, not minding the man beside her.

And not bothering to what will happened next....
