Waking up the next day to Elaine opening the curtains, the light blinds me a few moments before they adjust. "Morning Madam, would you like breakfast in bed or will you eat with their lordships?" "I'll eat downstairs thank you, Elaine." I stretch a bit and sit upright, then it dawns on me, that today our allies join the council. My theory however was right my brothers were aware of the history of the council. Seeing as Alexander is a council member, he agreed to this plan revealing that he knew and I can only expect Nathaniel and Xavier to know as well. "You have a letter along with a gift today," Elaine says, bringing a rectangular box with a letter on top to me. The box is tied with a red ribbon and attached to it is a letter. I open the letter and read,

By now you should believe that another world does exist within yours. Your council should have also by now announced their new allies, you may already know who they are. On Friday you will be fetched and accompany me somewhere. Wear the dress that has been sent with this letter. I do think the colour will look delicious on your skin.

Fitz

It has been nearly four weeks since we last saw one another, his last words still ring in my ear. How does he know what has been going on in the council? I then remove the ribbon and open the box to find a beautiful red Victorian dress. "That's a very lovely dress miss," Elaine comments. I hand the box back to her to place it elsewhere. I look at the letter again, should I go?

Walking downstairs I already find my brothers at the table, I take my seat and stretch my hand towards my tea, to have a sip. "Have you heard the news?" Xavier chimes. "It seems Germany is breaking the treaty," they carry on with the conversation which is where I now lost interest in. There is so much to worry about in other countries. "Madeleine, I spoke with James," Alexander says. Shit they know, "He said it was lovely meeting you again, he can't wait to get to know you more," what? "He said that?" I ask carefully, making sure I heard right. I would have expected him to tell my brothers how rude I was. "Why is Madeleine talking with James?" Nathaniel asks. "Well, Madeleine is of age, I think it is time she found someone," Alexander says nonchalantly. "A suitor? Is that the reason we accompanied her to that party?" He asks getting angry. I look next to him to find Xavier quietly leaving the table. "You do not move if you value your life," Nathaniel says not looking at Xavier who is now frozen in his spot. "Its social season isn't it?" he asks. "Listen, brother, we knew you weren't going to come so, I had to come up with something. You wouldn't want to leave our dear sister on her own," Xavier says, which causes Nathaniel to laugh with no humour in his voice. "You are not one to talk brother, considering the moment we entered you went off to have fun," he says now looking Xavier in the eye. Xavier then rolls his eyes and looks at me, signalling that I leave. I then excuse myself and make my way out of the room of screaming men.

As we enter the big hall I notice James talking with Lucian, I decide to make my way to them. "Mr Huxley, Mr Elwood," I greet them. "Madeleine, it's been a while," Lucian says, giving me a smile. "I hope I was not interrupting anything," I gesture between them. "No not at all," nodding my head I say, "Might I steal Mr Elwood for a moment?" I ask. "By all means," Lucian says, then starts walking away. Silence falls between us until he says, "You wanted something?" "Yes, I'd like to thank you for not telling my brothers about our interaction," I say, feeling my cheeks burn in embarrassment. "Just proving I'm not that boy anymore," he says, giving me a smile. "Oh, also I am sorry for saying those things," I say genuinely looking into his eyes. "No need I understand, I was rude to you," he says. So he has changed. "Right well it is most appreciated so thank you," "Your welcome," he says smiling.

As I open the doors to the infirmary I am met with blue eyes, eyes that are very familiar, taking in his appearance his black hair and his blue eyes that once pleaded me to tell Fitz where the council hides. "You," I say, unable to find the right words. He gives me a questioning look, "Me," he says then raises a brow. "You know Fitz," I say which causes his eyes to grow wide as if recognising me. He then looks around and grabs a hold of my wrist leading away from the infirmary. I yank my hand back and shoot daggers his way. "How are you alive?" I ask. "Unfortunately sweetheart I can't die," he says giving me a smug look. The realisation hits me, "Your an undead," "Fuck no!" he shouts. Allies, "so...your a wolf," I try again earning a nod. "So you're the human," he says looking me up and down. "Why are you here?" I ask feeling a bit weary. "I'm your new friend," he says with joy. So they have arrived. "Anyways I was told to come and keep an eye on you," he says pointing at me. "Why?" "Well, Fitz doesn't want anything to happen to you," this only causes me to laugh, till the point my stomach hurts. I look up to see a confused look on his face. "I'm sorry but Fitz tried to kill me, I find it hard to believe that he now all of a sudden wants to protect me and from what?" I ask trying to stop myself from laughing further. A smirk pulls on his lips as he folds his arms still staring at me. "You don't know?" He asks amusement in his eyes. "I don't know what?" I ask. Another secret I am unaware of is fantastic. "This is going to be very interesting," "What don't I know?" I ask again feeling bothered. "I'll let him explain this to you, I just want a front-row seat when this happens," he says smiling finding this funny.

Returning to the infirmary, I find the place full of new people. Men. Nurses are all surrounding them asking them unnecessary questions, rolling my eyes I find Grace sitting on a bed in the corner her back to me. Making my way to her I sit beside her. "I take it these are our new guests," I say. "Yes, oh that's not the best part these ones are assigned to watch us," Grace says rolling her eyes at the nurses who won't leave them. "Well, then we shouldn't let them distract us from our jobs!" I say loud enough for the whole room to hear. Soon they get back to work, I stand and approach one of the men. "I take it you are to watch us?" I ask. "Yes, well more like you," he says smiling at me. What the blady hell is going on? "I don't understand, I thought you were the allies that the council brought in," I say my brows scrunched together. "Maybe you should speak to Fitz instead," he says then starts to walk away with the rest of the group.

Sitting in the car alone I am left to my thoughts. My brothers decided to carry on work. Leaving me to have dinner alone tonight, why did Fitz send his friend to watch me? And what does he have to do with our new guests? This is all frustrating, Friday is two days away. All I want is answers and yet I keep getting more and more secrets.
