Walking down the halls of the hunter's quarters I try to find Lucian, as shocking as it may seem I need to know his full story. I have a feeling that I may be able to trust him more than I do with Fitz. It is clear that my body responds to Fitz and my mind doesn't think straight but it doesn't change anything. I eventually find Lucian speaking to Nathaniel. His back faces me as I approach them, at the sound of my heels clicking against the ground he turns with a smile. "Madeleine? Is there a problem?" Nathaniel asks to which I reply never looking at him, "Yes, I wish to speak in private with Mr Huxley, please."
"I heard the news of your bruises, I am sorry you had to suffer for his errors," Lucian speaks as we walk through the hunter grounds. "How did you know?" I ask to which he points to his ear. "You can also hear from afar," I say. "I have to ask, what exactly is your plan to defeat Fitz?" "Since we haven't discovered his weakness, there is only one other way," I lift my head as he continues. "You are aware of what Fitz is?" I nod slowly trying to figure out what it is he's thinking. "Him being the first crossbreed makes him very powerful but what if there is a way to make another that is much more powerful," he concludes. "You are suggesting we redo your sister's experiments, that is too much," I say to which he sighs. "They were not her experiments they were his idea," he growls out. I sigh and drop the topic as it seems he doesn't know that it was her. "If this were to work, who would be the one to go through the process?" "It would be easier to do it on someone who already is of one of the three species, we will find somebody." He sounds very sure of himself, whereas I fear this will be more chaotic.
As I finish setting up the Iv for one of our injured, I feel a tap on my shoulder. Turning around I face a smiling Cole, "Can I help you?" I ask. "Have you thought about it yet?" I sigh knowing what he is referring to. "It has only been a day Cole it's not easy," I say as I make my way toward the medicine cabinet. "Actually it is, you make it hard," he says to which I roll my eyes. "Oh of course my mistake, it is so easy to just ignore that he is a killer that has caused so much pain for a man whom I should trust," I say sarcastically. "Why do you insist on seeing the worst in him?" he asks. "I have not known him for more than 3 months and I am expected to just go with it? He has left me asking questions and doubting those that I love on top of all that he has killed so many innocent souls here." I gesture to the room. "Do you hate him?" he asks catching me off guard. I feel many things for Fitz Baker but hate is not among them. "No, but I cannot agree until I know the truth," I say as I skim the shelves for pain medication. "Come and spend the day with my pack madeleine, I cannot guarantee you will learn everything you wish but you may understand why things are the way they are." He proposes. Maybe that doesn't sound like a bad idea. "Fine," I agree. "When exactly?" I ask. "How about tomorrow, take the day off work and we will have someone come and fetch you."
"Is there something between you and Mr Huxley Madeleine?" Alexander asks causing the table to now focus on me. "No why do you ask?" "Nathaniel tells me you have been seeing him more often than normal, you even spoke with him today," he says with a raised brow. "Am I not allowed to speak to him now?" I ask getting irritated. "What happened to James I quite liked him and I thought you both got on well at the dinner," Nathaniel joins in. "Why are you so set on me finding a suitor?" I ask feeling agitated. "You cannot remain single forever, who will take care of you?" Alexander asks, his brows furrowing. "Her lover," Xavier speaks this time drawing our attention to him. "Excuse me?" Nathaniel asks. "Oh you clearly do not pay attention," he chuckles before sipping his wine. "Care to elaborate?" I ask folding my arms and trying to look unaffected but internally I fear he may have caught onto something. "You keep coming home late, Elaine says you received a gift the last month a dress which I haven't seen you wear, not too long ago you came home a mess, a mess I recognise on any woman," he says as he points his knife at me. We look at him shocked, to which he rolls his eyes, "What just because I am distracted by women doesn't mean I won't still pay attention to things, sex isn't the only thing on my mind." what a surprise, I thought to myself. "Are you watching me now?" I ask scoffing. He shakes his head as he cuts his food, "Just an observation," he says with a smile. "That explains the times you missed work and left early it's not like you to leave in the middle of the day," Nathaniel says in realisation. I internally groan, fuck me. "So who is he?" Alexander asks. Oh, you will love him, he's the reason why half your hunters are in the hospital and he is also the reason why we have wolfmen in our council not to mention he may end up being your brother-in-law. Of course, I don't voice this. What do I do now?
