"Are you out of your mind!" Grace yells pacing up and down my room with her hand on her forehead. "He kidnapped you and claimed that before he thinks of you as a toy," she says looking at me sternly. In a way, she looks like a mother scolding her daughter. "He is a mad man Madeleine, why would you accept his invitation to go to lord knows where?" she asks. "Because mother, I need answers and he only seems to have them," I say while finishing my hair. "It doesn't matter, what if he tries to finish the job and actually kills you?" I sit and think about her question, she is right but, wouldn't I be dead by now? He wanted me to at first give the location of the council and then kept his word to let me go. "He won't kill me," I say earning a shocked look from her. "How can you be so sure?" "I just think he won't," I say getting up and making my way to put my dress on. Grace then hesitantly helps with the strings behind it. When done, I turn around and face her disappointed look. "How do I look?" I ask. "Beautifully done for," is her response. Rolling my eyes I grab ahold of her hands and look her straight in the eye, "Trust me,"
Walking out I find the car waiting for me, Thea sits inside waiting. I take a deep breath and climb inside. For the past two days, my brothers have been working, this was the perfect time to get answers as they won't suspect a thing. The soon takes off. "It is good to see you again Madeleine," she greets with a warm smile. "You know I never did say, your English is quite good, most french cannot speak as fluently as you do," "I had a good teacher," she says staring out the window. "You and Fitz are not real siblings correct?" I ask. "No, but I think of him as my brother, we were the only family we had," she says still staring out the window.
"If I may ask, how did you two meet?" She sighs before fully giving me her attention. "He saved me a very long time from slavery, my real family sold me to get more money to pay for the land. Seeing as I was the youngest, they saw me as a burden and a curse that they needed to get rid of." Slavery was many years ago, yet Thea looks to be at least 18. "I'm very old if you are wondering," she says with a teasing grin. I place my hand on her knee which causes her to face me. Giving her a sad smile, "I'm sorry." "Don't pity me, I hated my family, but thank you," she says smiling.
Hearing a knock I turn to find the door open leading out into a forest. "Where are we?" I ask as I climb out. As I exit I see Fitz making his way toward us. Our eyes connect and the intensity of his stare forces me to break the contact first. He looks me up and down and a smirk pulls on his lips. Oh, he has such beautiful lips, what the hell has gotten into me? "So I was right, red does look delicious on your skin." I feel warm at his compliment, why do I feel this way. "I will be going ahead," Thea says walking past Fitz. "Miss Collins," he greets "Mr Baker," I say in greeting. "May I ask why we are in the woods," this causes him to chuckle, "I could tell you or you could find out yourself," he says smirking at me, rolling my eyes I then say "Stop that," shrugging his shoulders he gives a questioning look. "Tell me what's going on or else I leave and stop smiling at me like that," I say frustrated. He then extends his hand out for me to grab, to which I hesitantly do. We then start to walk through the forest, nothing but trees can be seen from an eye's distance. I wonder where Thea went. It's strange that I feel calm walking around with the being that kills without remorse. It oddly started after our first encounter, I was scared but I was as scared as our first encounter. "How did you know the council brought in new allies?" I ask breaking the silence. "I sent them," he responds, "Why? To kill everybody?" I ask which causes him to laugh. His laugh brings flutters to my stomach which causes me to gasp. " Something like that, you will soon find out." Is all he says. "I take it then you now know where we are situated," "No," he says in a high tone, as he helps over a log. "I don't understand," I say with furrowed brows. "Thea told them, they haven't said a word to me for other reasons I cannot know the location of the council." I don't push further on the topic but, I am curious as to why he cannot know where we are, aside from the fact that he is an undead and he would most likely die at the hands of the hunters, I feel there is another reason. The trees create a shade preventing the sun from fully shining, I notice that we walk through a few patches of light and yet he doesn't burn. "There have been sightings of undead that are able to walk in the sun, how is that possible?" I ask looking up at him. He then uses his other hand and undoes a few of his buttons revealing a necklace with a stone. The stone is a purple-blue colour with a few streaks of gold along with it. "What has that got to do with my question?" I ask raising a brow. "This is Lapis Lazuli, a stone enchanted by gifted to allow us the freedom to roam in the day," he says while buttoning up his shirt. "If you don't wear it then I take it you would burn," he simply nods.
