H A K A N
Present Day...
After tossing and turning for twenty minutes, I finally woke up to the sun beaming through the blinds of our dorm room. The clock read 12:15 p.m, which meant I only slept for three hours, again...
My mind finally registered Kian obnoxiously snoring his way through the afternoon as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Sliding out of bed, stretching the tightness out of my joints– I checked my cell and couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. There was a good morning text from Videsta at 9:00 this morning. Wondering what she was doing up so early and if she was still awake, I shot her a quick 'I just woke up, good afternoon beautiful', text back.
I placed my phone back onto my dresser and walked to the bathroom. I looked as bad as I felt which was usual for me. My eyes were bloodshot red accompanied by dark circles from my lack of sleep of course. My hair stuck up in a bunch of different directions and my head felt like someone took a metal bat to the back of it.
"Bro, can I come in?" Kian knocked on the bathroom door.
I stopped brushing my teeth to spit in the sink, "yeah."
He came in and immediately splashed water on his face and began to brush his teeth in the next sink over.
"Are you coming with me to the gym?" He asked, mouthful of toothpaste.
I nodded and continued brushing.
"Damn, you look like shit bro,"
I didn't respond because I knew I did. I just popped two extra strength Tylenol's for my headache. One headache I did not have the strength to try and push through, so I had to push my fear of pills to the back of my mind.
I placed the Tylenol bottle next to my plethora of other medications inside of the mirror. My Olanzapine-fluoxetine duo for my borderline personality disorder and bipolar depression and Alprazolam for my anxiety.
"You gonna take any of those?" Kian asked.
"Should I?"
"I think you're a catch without them," he replied.
"Quit flirting with me," I walked out of the bathroom.
"Crazy isn't my type," Kian laughed behind me.
I walked to my closet and grabbed a pair of thin material gray sweats, a white under armor tank and some gray running shoes. I stuffed a towel, Nike slides, a clean pair of socks and boxers, basketball shorts and another tank top into my Nike duffel, when my phone started to incessantly vibrate.
Incoming call from 'Lotus.'
Incoming call from 'Lotus.'
Incoming call from 'Lotus.'
"Bro, shit, are you gonna get that?"
"No," I hit the silence button.
"What's Lotus want anyways?
I shrugged.
"Since when have you ever felt the need to lie to me?"
I ignored Kians question and stayed silent. I knew Lotus was going to text me since I didn't answer his call.
Lotus: The two of you are still out of NY, right?
Gadreel: Yes. Can't take any of your calls right now cause I don't want to worry Kian. Any news?
Lotus: Any news you've kept up with so shit isn't repetitive?
Gadreel: Penbay pilot. No new developments in the case itself but her father is back to work and the chief is gonna keep the case open for the next month or two.
