Cersei sat and leaned on the wall as Sapnap threw the the broken bow and arrow to the ground. They had just finished fighting the mobs.

Her breathing hard as sweat covered her face. Like every patrol it seems as if they had the hardest night again. And they were both done with it.

They had tried switching schedules with others and it wouldn't be as bad but at the end of every patrol, they would be returned to each other because the other person just didn't match with them in fighting.

That was the reason why Dream and Techno put them together, because despite them getting in each other's throats or how they were avoiding each other, they still worked better together.

Dream had to bitterly admit that. He didn't like that Cersei, his partner in fighting was working well with anyone but him or Techno. He was jealous, platonically. He had admitted that to George but the brunette just laughed at him saying that it was normal.

Cersei looked at the sky as Sapnap sat next to her, equally exhausted. "That was a record." He said. "I don't understand how they can spawn that fast." She muttered.

It was the first words they exchanged to each other since that confrontation. They didn't look at each other, clearly they didn't know how to talk about shit. They weren't used to it, but despite the bad blood from their last conversation, Cersei found it comforting that Sapnap still sat next to her. That he was there.

She sighed which made Sapnap to look at her. He studied her, she looked exhausted and he couldn't blame her. Ever since the sky was becoming duller, the Nightmares were on alert 24/7.

He didn't know what was happening but what he did know was that Cersei had been working her ass off. His thoughts were interrupted when she shivered.

Pulling her cloak to herself, Sapnap pursed his lips. He moved forward and pulled some twigs and leaves. This made Cersei to look at him, confused at what he was doing.

But before she could say anything, Sapnap flicked a flame to the pile of twigs and leaves and a small fire was created. Her lips gaped as she watched the flames that danced around each other.

She sighed in relief as she felt the warmth engulf her. Sapnap leaned back to lean on the wall but moved closer to her. She closed her eyes as she felt him there, it brought her peace that she wasn't alone that night.

Cersei wasn't alone doing a job. This just dawned upon her. For years, when Dream left and Techno retired, she had been doing things alone but now she isn't. There were people around her like the Beloveds, Niki, Jack, George, Karl, Quackity and Wilbur and Tommy.

But Sapnap was different, whenever a fight would arise, he would find himself there. Either being pushed to safety by the Nightmares or near her. She was... thankful.

Sapnap felt the same. Before it seemed and felt that it was George and Dream, before it wasn't bad, he had his old friend Punz but he had to leave. He had his fiancés but he didn't really care anymore. So when Cersei arrived and found him being around her in any dangerous moments he was relieved.

So they sat there, under the stars, the warmth from the fire around them and next to each other. Silence wasn't really defeaning, hearing each other was enough.

"Thank you." She finally spoke. He turned to her in shock. Her eyes opened and she sighed, "I'm not good with people being nice to me." she admitted.

Sapnap nodded, "I'm sorry." He said. She turned to look at him, "If I overstepped." He said. They nodded at each other and she looked at the fire.

A familiar desire flashed in her eyes. She wanted to touch it but she knew she would burn like everyone else, but for her, she always felt like she would melt which was bizarre because if her lore was right, she would extinguish fire but she rarely felt that.

Sapnap saw this familiar look, he leaned forward and offered her hand to the flame, a little flame ball walking to his hand. Cersei watched with a tilted head. She envied him, he can control his powers.

She sighed and he turned to her, crossing his legs. He offered his other hand, she looked at him in disbelief. He snickered, "Trust me. I won't hurt you." He said.

A series of voices appeared in her head, blending with each other saying those exact words. She clenched her jaw but Sapnap didn't see. He rolled his eyes and grabbed her hand.

"Hey-" she was cut off with the feeling of small warmth on her palm. She looked at him, scared to look at her hand. Sapnap smiled at her and motioned to look downwards.

Her eyes looked down and her breath hitched. The small flamed dancing above her palm. Her eyes watched in wonder and a small smile appeared on her lips.

Sapnap smiled to himself as he kept the fire from touching her skin. She let out a small chuckle making his heart feel something. Something that he didn't realize he could still feel after the two boys he was supposed to marry decided to end it with her.

He watched her softly until her eyes met his. She nodded and he threw the flame back to the fire. She sighed in relief and they leaned back to the wall. They stared at the fire, a calmer, trusted air around them.

Cersei smiled to herself as she leaned her head on his shoulder. The exhaustion getting the best of her. Sapnap froze for a bit until he moved closer. He sighed when he didn't feel her hit him. She settled and he looked up the sky.

The stars watching them as he smiled. He knew that he couldn't tease her about this in front of everyone. He didn't want to cross anymore lines. So he sat there as she started to drift off.

Sapnap didn't worry about how he would wake her up or if he wanted to wake her up. It was peaceful, he didn't realize how peaceful he would feel with the Nightmare princess in his presence, but he did.

It brought a smile to his face as he closed his eyes. His head falling on top of hers.
