Sapnap and Cersei moved to walk to patrol the back part of the castle while Eret and Fundy moved to the front. As the pair walked they were engulfed with silence.
The sun was just setting as they reached the back where the wall stood up high. Cersei sighed as she wouldn't get to see the sunset.
She didn't particularly enjoy patrolling when they were at Eret's mainly because she didn't get to enjoy the sunset unlike in L'Manburg where her and Sapnap basked under the last rays of the setting sun.
Sapnap knew of this and he smiled to himself. "When we were here last I asked Eret a favor." He softly said. She looked at him, confused as to what he was talking about.
He moved closer to the wall and pushed out some vines to show her ladders. She looked at him confused as to what she was looking at. "What is this for?" she asked.
Sapnap smirked at her, "Come on you'll miss it." he said as he started to climb up the ladders. But when he looked down, he saw her just watching him. He snickered and moved down slightly, he offered his hand. She looked at it and then back at him.
Silently asking him, 'what the hell am I supposed to do with that?' Sapnap sighed, "Come on. It's not like I'll push you off." He said. She stared at his eyes, studying him if she can trust him fully.
Because despite everything, the warning signs in her head, she trusted him enough to patrol with him and she didn't understand why.
"Cersei." He said. She blinked and gulped, "Come on." He said. She sighed, grabbing his hand despite the screaming in her head. The two climbed up the ladder and they reached the top of the walls.
Sapnap sat as he offered the seat next to him. Cersei sat down, accidentally gripping his arm when the wind blew. He let out a chuckle as he steadied her, gripping her waist and pulling her closer.
Her throat closed up as her breath hitched. He smiled to himself and looked forward, "The last time we patrolled you nonstop complained about not being able to see the sunset so I paid Eret to make some ladders." He said.
Cersei looked at him in disbelief, "What did you have to pay?" she asked. She knew how it wasn't easy to ask Eret anything so it shocked her the moment she heard that it was Eret who did it.
"Just enough." He said. Cersei scoffed and looked forward, mesmerized by the sunset, "I can't believe you did anything." She whispered. Sapnap scoffed, "That's what people who care do." He said.
His eyes gazed down when he felt something wet on his arm. Sapnap saw a dark somewhat liquid on the sleeve of his black long sleeve.
Sapnap's eyebrows furrowed in worry. He moved slightly away making Cersei to look at him in confusion. He sighed and grabbed her hand. "Hey-" she stopped when she saw the blood seeping through the bandage.
He sent her a knowing look. She scoffed and was about to pull her hand away but Sapnap kept a grip on her wrist, she looked at him, glaring really making him snicker. Using his free hand, he unwrapped the bandage, careful not wanting to hurt her.
His focus was on the bandage and her gash, not realizing Cersei looking at him. She was confused why he cared. No one really cared. That was a lie, Techno and Dream cared but they still left her. Someone very close to her cared but they still left her so why was Sapanap any different.
He poured some clean water over it making her hiss. She glared at him making him chuckle, "You're gonna bleed to death and I don't particularly want to watch you die today." He said quietly.
This made Cersei relax as he replaced the blood covered bandage with a new one. When he finished, he looked back at her and sent her a small smile.
Without saying anything he looked forward, the sun now fully set. He looked over the trees, seeing some mobs here and then. But he felt it, her looking at him. He glanced at her and raised an eyebrow.
Cersei shook her head and looked down, she saw the small stream by Eret's castle, staring at it. Trying to distract herself from her hyper heart.
Her heart and mind were now betraying her. How dare they think about how Sapnap looked as he took care of her. The way his eyebrows furrowed together, the way his lips would purse or how his eyes studied her gash. The way her stomach would flip at his small touches or how her heart would race at the tiniest smile.
How dare they make her feel and think of all this when she doesn't understand what it all means. She was having a battle with herself and Sapnap realized that.
From the small moment of knowing her, he had recognized and memorize all the actions she would do. When she was annoyed, upset or actually amused. The way her eyes didn't show anything but her eyebrows were expressive. They would furrow, raise or drop. Her small smirks or smiles.
They had unintentionally memorized each other and yet they didn't know what it all meant. How can someone so closed off be so interesting at the same time? How can someone so annoying be so endearing at the same time?
How was it that Cersei who promised herself not to feel this kind of weakness feel weak around him and yet be fine with it? How was it that Sapnap who cared less about anyone but George and Dream and Bad and Skeppy and Punz and yet here he was, caring towards a woman so strong and closed off?
How was it that they found comfort at patrol nights despite being bombarded by mobs? How was it that they barely knew each other and yet felt so close? How was it possible?
There was a time that Cersei merely flirted and Sapnap played the game and yet now it felt like a crime not being able to patrol together. It was peculiar and weird. It was different. So, very different.
