XXV: A Month From Now
Third POV
By the time morning had arrived, Keiko had been discharged with her temperature back to normal, and to make sure she drank slightly chilled water to help her issue now that they were entering the summer months.
Keiko had fallen asleep again in the car ride back home, giving Katsuki some time to fill Izuku in on what was going on.
And to say the green-haired boy was devastated was an understatement.
Ever since he'd found out that she was Katsuki's child, he'd always envisioned she'd follow in his footsteps on becoming a pro-hero (like Katsuki had dreamt), but knowing she could potentially end up quirkless like him was the last thing he'd expected.
"So... do you plan on going through with it..?" Izuku questioned, eyeing Katsuki who stared hard into the open lane ahead of them, watching him shake his head.
"I have until July 2nd to meet the injection deadline." Katsuki shrugged, "but I don't think that there's much for me to think about if I know having the quirk is doing more harm for her than good."
"July 2? But isn't that-?" izuku suddenly exclaimed, watching Katsuki bob his head up and down again.
"Yup, the last chance I have to make this right is on Keiko's 3rd birthday." Katsuki responded solemnly, his grip on the steering wheel tightly.
A month from now, Katsuki would have to make a choice that would affect Keiko for the rest of her life. Oh, how he wished he wouldn't have to do this.
Eventually, they arrived back at Katsuki's home, Keiko instantly waking up and running to go play as if nothing had happened.
"Keiko, Cmon you need to take a bath." Katsuki muttered, taking her hand before placing her on his hip and carrying her upstairs, leaving Izuku to think.
So much had happened with the past few weeks-; if it wasn't one thing another would simply pop up in place.
And a lot of it revolved around Katsuki.
"He had to have been tired with so much weight being placed upon him like this," Izuku pondered, pulling out his phone to call his mother.
He still had so much to tell her.
. . .
By the time Katsuki had come back downstairs, Izuku was rather surprised to see him in his hero costume, and Keiko nowhere to be found.
"Katsuki..?" Izuku spoke out, garnering the attention of the blond who had a finicky look to him, "I thought you had the day off?"
Katsuki shook his head, "Yeah that was the plan but I got called in for something urgent, Kaminari said that the commission needed to see me right away or something like that."
Izuku could feel his face sink at the mere mention of the hero safety public commission, understanding that they weren't the greatest people and did shady things when it came to this superhuman society of theirs.
So for Katsuki to be called in it had to have been something big right? After all, he was the number one hero.
Katsuki kissed Izuku on the cheek, "Mind hanging out with Keiko? Just until I get back?"
