XXXVIII: Wedding Day

Third POV

Four weeks had gone by since the end of the battle between the League of Villians vs. Heroes and Katsuki's hospitalization.

As far as the people of Japan, Japan's Hero Public Safety Commission, and the world hero organization were concerned, Katsuki was a national hero.

He did it. He achieved his dream and was being hailed just as great of a hero as All Might, his longtime closeted idol.

Though, it was unfortunate that Katsuki wasn't even awake to enjoy his new profound fame.

He was still out, and while not on life support the doctors deemed it wasn't safe for his body to be moving and active so they placed him under bed watch, though he was still a bit lucid.

. . . Presently . . .

Izuku gently brushed away Katsuki's bangs away from his face, just so happy that the doctors allowed him to be within arms reach of the man.

Keiko sat on his lap, doodling her third get-well card for the day; making a bunch of them to decorate his quote-unquote 'boring table'.

"So when you and daddy get married, can I be the flower girl..?" Keiko imposed, picking up a pink crayon and drawing a heart on the front cover.

Izuku looked towards her, and nodded enthusiastically, "Well who else but besides you?"

A feminine voice rang outside of Katsuki's hospital room, opening up to reveal Mitsuki and one other person...

"Mom, you're finally here!" Izuku grinned, seeing a stacked woman with glimmering green eyes like his own enter the room.

She quickly trudged over to him, pulling her son into a warm embrace after going a long time with no physical contact.

"I'm sorry it took so long, what with all of this conflict in Japan." Inko elatedly spoke, as she then bent down and gently shook Keiko's hand. "And who is this lovely lady..?"

"I'm Keiko!" Keiko proudly stated, her giggles filling the room when Inko lifted her up and placed her on her hip.

"An adorable name for an adorable little girl," Inko hummed, lightly booping Keiko's nose before turning over to Katsuki, eyeing how her son gently caressed the man.

"How is he?"

Izuku looked back at Katsuki, looking over at his vitals machine.

"Hanging in there," Izuku answered, watching Katsuki's eyes move rapidly. He hated the REM stage, giving him false hope that Katsuki was going to wake up. His gaze then panned over to his mother.

"And when he gets better, we'll get married..." Izuku hummed, letting his eyes flutter closed as he began to wish hard on it.

"Yknow... you could get married now." Mitsuki suggested, "We know it's possible to wake him up from this comatose state but we don't know if.."

She trailed off, her eyes wandering over to Keiko who was staring intently at her father.

"Then we could solidify his wishes from earlier." She finished, before her gaze tilted over to the window.

"We'll have to ask Katsuki what he thinks then." Izuku nodded, his hold on Katsuki being so soothing.

. . . An Hour Later. . .

The room fell silent, as Izuku felt Katsuki's head roll underneath his hand, and a gravely groan rumbled in his throat.

Though there were darkened eye bags from lack of proper sleep, Katsuki's eyes shone hazily.

There was still his feeding tube stuck in his throat which is why he still sounded so hoarse and couldn't really speak. His eyes darted over to those in the room before looking over at his hospital table where Keiko's get-well cards rested.

He felt a soothing sense as Izuku's fingers ran through his hairy, listening to the boy's voice speak. His health had been on the rocks ever since he was admitted to this hospital, so the idea of eloping now didn't even sound so bad.

At least the law would protect Izuku and Keiko and ensure that all of Katsuki's assets would go to the right people.

He watched an enthusiastic smile appear on both Inko and Mitsuki's faces, watching as his mother called his dad to get some form of papers, a lawyer, and rush down to the hospital immediately.

The two ladies seemed more excited to see them get married than Izuku and Katsuki were.

Not that it was possible.

The nurse adjusted Katsuki's bed so he was able to sit upright a bit, the whole situation a blur as Mitsuki took her work bag and scampered little Keiko into the bathroom.

Inko on the other hand rushed down to the gifting area of the hospital on the 4th floor, grabbing a get-well basket and bouquet of flowers.

Izuku leaned forward and rested his head on Katsuki's forehead, hearing incoherent giggling coming from the bathroom.

Even if Katsuki wasn't bedridden, there was no way for him to stop his mother and her antics once they'd started, especially now that Keiko was always going along with them.

"Well, this is it..." Izuku whispered, slowly reaching out for Katsuki's hand.

It was weak, but Katsuki squeezed it.

It felt soon, but human life was so short when they thought about it.

Neither of them expected this to become their new reality. With this, they'd be completing a long-awaited family.

By the time everyone reformed to the main portion of the hospital room, Mitsuki had fluffed out Keiko's hair, placing it in a neatened half-up,half-down hairstyle.

Very simple make was placed of course as Inko gently took the girl aside whispering her ear before handing her a mini basket of plucked-out roses.

Keiko nodded, walking outside before spinning on her heel.

Her red sundress, swung gracefully as she slowly strode in, like the little princess that she was.

She gently sprinkled roses on the ground beneath her, before stopping in front of Izuku and Katsuki.

She dug underneath, pulling out three cherry blossom petals.

One in Izuku's left hand, and one in Katsuki's right hand.

The third petal gently falls onto Katsuki's left hand and Izuku's right, forcing the toe of them to hold it together.

Life is fragile, that much was the truth.

While they might not have been outside, Izuku and Katsuki still caught the falling petal from Keiko's hand, so by the little girl's definition, it still counted.

Izuku and Katsuki's first true loves would be requited.

And this marriage they entered would be filled with love and bliss. As it should be.

Not a big ceremony. But with the amount of love and future tears shed of joy, it might've as well have been like everyone was there.

Perfect. Just perfect.
