XXXI: The Star of the Show
Third POV
It was currently 5 pm and Keiko's birthday party was officially in full swing!
Izuku stared at the connecting tablet, a bit glad that the swelling around his eyes had gone down significantly after falling asleep.
Now he didn't have to worry about missing Keiko's party despite being on bed rest in the ICU.
He watched Keiko come up to the connecting device, all dressed up in a two-piece peach dress.
The dress itself had layers of tulle ruffles connecting to the main body part with a diamond belt waist chain. And in the even Keiko got tired of the long ruffle train, she could remove the belt to reveal a single satin jumpsuit.
Her hair had been meticulously placed in a plushy high pointy tail, completed with a gold star tiara to mark that she was officially the star of the celebration.
It was clear Katsuki had put a lot into his little girl's third birthday, it was actually quite sweet.
The party itself was mainly from the kitchen to the backyard; the pool was opened with a bunch of floaties and pool noodles, with different tables set up for refreshment.
To the corner was the gift bags for the other children and the 3 layered cake, decorated with edible glitter and peach butterflies along the tiers.
To the opposite corner was everything a kid would want for their birthday; a bounce house with different games based on their favorite tv shower character.
The whole works.
Keiko was lucky to have someone like Katsuki as a dad.
"Hi, De-ku!" She waved, watching the boy slowly blink, "I know daddy said you wanted to be here but you couldn't, so he did this!"
"Do you like my dress?" Keiko excitedly questioned, "Grandma Mitsuki made it for me!"
It was slow and somewhat painful with all the medical machinery pinned on him, but Izuku slowly nodded.
He watched her face light up as he did so, watching Aki from the daycare come up to her to play.
"Bye De-ku!" Keiko waved, as she then ran off.
Izuku wasn't mad he couldn't attend, just seeing Keiko happy made up for it by the tenfold.
His gaze panned away from the screen as he listened to his hospital door opening, to reveal hospital staff.
"How are you feeling, Mr.Midoriya?" The occupying nurse known as Lumi questioned.
Izuku shakily stuck out his thumb, watching a smile on the woman's peachy face.
"Wonderful, your breathing has become relatively stable so we think it'd be okay for us to remove the breathing tube in your throat so you can rely on your nose again, how do you feel about that?" Lumi asked, watching the boy attempt to nod.
She then placed on a pair of blue gloves and reached behind his head, snapping off the holder with two clicks before she unclipped the holders in the front.
Peeling off the adhesive at the bride of his nose before she brought the tray closer and gently wiggled it out, before placing it down.
She then used the bed remote control to help him sit slightly upright before using a fresh towel to wipe the inner corners of his lips.
She then adjusted the iv placement from his sleeping position so it wouldn't disturb him now, placing a cup of slightly chilled water.
"The breathing tube tends to make your throat dry so I suggest drinking this water in intervals," Lumi explained as Izuku attempted to speak,
"H-how long will I be expected to stay in the hospital..?" His voice sounded hoarser than he initially expected.
Lumi shrugged, "well first we have to get you rehydrated because you lost a lot of blood, and then we have to work on your physical rehabilitation to ensure there aren't anymore underlying issues."
"I'd give it a week at most."
Izuku looked down at his legs before smoothing out his hospital attire, "Thank you."
She nodded, "Of course, just push the button and I'll be down right away."
She pushed the tray away and exited the room as Izuku shakily picked up the cup.
He took a sip as he never thought drinking water could've felt so refreshing. He then cleared his throat and turned back to the screen.
Music on the other end bumped loudly, as Izuku watched the tablet on the other end get picked up by Katsuki.
"K-Katsuki," Izuku croaked out, a real smile on his face after a long night of panic and dread. "How's everything going?"
He watched the blond-haired pro-hero have a rather glad and ecstatic look on his face to see Izuku without a breathing tube down his throat.
"Everything is going been better now," The man nodded, picking up one of the catered fruit cups and popping a strawberry into his mouth, "I'll come back to the hospital once the party is over."
"I'd like that very much..." Izuku muttered, reaching out for another sip of water, "I have something for Keiko's birthday back at my place in my bedroom, it's in a light pink bag."
"It's not much, but I think she'll like it," Izuku whispered, adjusting his laying posture, he twiddled his thumbs before looking back at Katsuki.
"We're you being serious about asking me to live with you guys?" He suddenly questioned, watching Katsuki give him another look.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Katsuki answered, "Keiko likes you and I know I do... besides if you ever want to leave you can always keep your apartment."
"Besides after everything with yours and Keiko's identity being revealed, I figured you'd want to be closer since nothing's holding you back."
Izuku's gaze averted as he let out a weak sigh, "Well how's social media taking all of this? Yknow knowing that you've been hiding a secret daughter and you dating her daycare teacher."
Katsuki shrugged, "First day there was an expected reaction but it's slowly subsiding... I'm getting empathy rather than hate which is far from what I was expecting especially cause I'm all about being transparent to my fans."
"I don't care- and to show that I don't, when you finally are out of there I want to take you out somewhere... that is if you'll feel comfortable." He suddenly asked, watching Izuku nod.
"It's a date then."
