Chapter 30

"I brought you some coffee", Serena announced, making her way towards where Starlah was sitting in the waiting section. "Thanks baby, but i can't eat or drink or even think until he's out of surgery and in my arms", she said as she began to cry again, tear after tear rolled down her stained cheeks. "I understand", Serena comforted the best she could, as she wrapped her arms around her, "everything will be okay", she added before his doctor made his way over with a reassuring smile. "Good news", he shared, "He is stable right now and has his own room, however he hasn't woken up yet, so we won't be sure until he's awake". More tears fell from his mom's eyes, but this time it was from happiness, "thank god", she mummered, "can i see him? can i see my baby?" she asked with wide eyes. The doctor nodded as both Serena and Starlah got up from their seats, "but no one other than immediate family until he wakes up, I'm so sorry", he said to Serena. Starlah opened her mouth to refute but Serena stopped her, "it's okay, I'm fine out here, go! I'm gonna call everyone I know he'd want to be here", Serena said, pushing her to go. She nodded with a warm smile, then followed the doctor down the hall.

As soon as she was out of sight Serena dialed his number for the hundredth time only to find it going to voice mail once more, "MYLES WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?", Serena angrily whispered into the phone, before she felt a tap on her shoulder. "What happened?", Jake asked concerned. Serena sighed, "I have no clue", she answered honestly, "His mom called me crying hysterically, like you don't even know, I couldn't even understand her Jake, and so I came over to find so many cops and an ambulance. He was already in the ambulance when I came, but there was so much blood on the floor I thought I was gonna pass out. So i drove his mom to the hospital, and then he was in surgery this whole time until now. He has his own room now, but no one can see him but immediate family till he wakes up". Jake took a deep breath in before responding, "oh shit, i did not think it was something this serious", he confessed before continuing, "where's everyone else?". A wave of anger flashed through Serena as she began her rant, "You tell me. Like I get why Savannah and Amanda aren't here, they probably blocked my number, but wheres Lyla? Lycia? Ty? Where the hell is Myles is what I want to know?", she questioned. Jake nodded in agreement, "Let me text the girls right now, I know Cam and Ty are on their way right now with Lycia, and well you already know Lyla hates me so you'll have to deal with her", Jake said in annoyance, "Oh and as for Myles, I have no clue. He's been missing since last night. Do you think he might know what happened? Honestly i'm really worried, this is strange for him to act this way, its so unlike him", he said worriedly. The mention of last night resulted to a shiver of guilt to run through Serena as she remembered what had happened before Myles ran off.

Breaking her train of thought she heard a nurse hushing a loud group of boys at the front desk, "This is a hospital, not a zoo, keep it down", she demanded. Serena looked up at Tyler, Cameron, and Lycia who were now making their way to where Jake and her were standing. "What happened?", Cam asked with concern as he noticed the worry in Jakes eyes. Serena once more explained herself, before he cut her off "wait where's Myles?", Cam questioned as he noticed there wasn't many people in the waiting room he knew. "Everyones on their way, except him, he's mia", Serena answered, irritated.

After an hour and a half of waiting, finally everyone with the exception of Myles was supportingly there, patiently waiting for the 'ok' to see Kalin. Savannah was pacing back and forth, her mind racing at a thousand miles per hour. Unable to put two and two together, she couldn't understand what had possibly happen to get him in the hospital. Amanda broke her train of thought as she comfortingly placed her arms around Savannah, "it's gonna be alright, he's gonna be alright", she kept saying as Savannah wept into her friends arms.

Once more, his doctor came from down the same hallway with the same familiar, friendly smile. "Okay, don't argue over this, but Kalin is awake, however he's only allowed to see two people at a time, who will it be first?", he announced. Everyone awkwardly stared at each other before both Serena and Savannah stood up. Making even more awkward eye contact, the two girls put their hatred aside and almost began to follow his doctor to his room when a faint voice from the back caught everyones attention in the room. "Um if you don't mind, can I please go see him", Myles asked in a raspy voice. "Oh I'm gonna kill you", Serena said to him before noticing his appearance. With large red shot , puffy eyes and disheveled hair she stopped herself from continuing her argument. Instead she started to walk back to her chair, remembering she wasn't his actual girlfriend at the moment, she decided to let Savannah go. "no, it's okay, you two can see him first", Savannah said as she took a seat. Without asking why, in fear she might change her mind, Serena thanked her and followed the doctor to his room with a zombified Myles.

"Okay, just remember not too talk to loud, or touch any of the machinery he did just come out of surgery not too long ago", the doctor warned before pushing his rooms large oaken door open. Both Myles and Serena nodded, eager to see him. Myles's heart sank as he finally saw his best friend wired up to a bunch of tubes and a machine. With Kalins lips swollen and face pale, he welcomed them with a small smile, "i'm sorry it hurts to smile, but just know I'm real happy right now", Kalin said softly, but charismatically. Myles laughed lightly, with tears rolling down his cheeks. "I'm gonna leave, give you guys some time, call me if you need me baby", she said to her son before exiting the room. "So you just gonna stare at me or you gonna give your brother a hug?", Kalin asked his best friend. Myles was confused as to why Kalin didn't already have a restraining order against him or at least why he was happy to see him. Serena found it weird Kalin hadn't even made eye contact with her since she'd entered the room. Myles leaned in slowly being careful not to mess with the tubes attatched to his arm, "i'm sorry man", Myles kept whispering as he clinged onto Kalin. "why are you apologizing Meelz?", Kalin questioned seriously, then with a swift mood change, he playfully asked, "and who's that hot girl you brought in? New girlfriend i see?". Serena blankly stared at Kalin, 'Was he joking', she thought to herself. "Kalin, you're not funny", she said with a chuckle as she too leaned in for a hug. Abruptly Kalin pulled away, "um, do i know you?" he asked offensively.
