Song of the Chapter:
Lyin King- Jhene AikoIt was cold and silent as he started his car. A Chris brown song suddenly blasted from the stero, startling Serena as she sat straight in her seat. Kalin chuckled under his breath and lowered the volume, then changing the song to a slow Frank Ocean song. Serena shifted position, slowly becoming more at ease.
The first couple minutes no one had said anything. 'What was there to say?' Serena thought to herself, 'it's was to awkward to move backwards or forwards, we can't forget about what happened or deal with the situation'. Kalin interrupted her train of thought, "What are you thinking about" kalin asked softly. Serena stared at the floor intently "where do we stand?", she said. Kalin glanced at her and paused for a short while before responding, "Serena I can't tell you that? And you really can't expect me to know either.." Serena opened her mouth to refute but kalin didn't let her, continuing on he said, "I understand you don't want to hurt myles, as do I, but what happened that night for me was something special. You make me feel-" he stoped himself before going on, "what's important is what you want Serena, you have a choice" he said pulling up into her driveway, "You can tell me straight up and we can end whatever this is right now, or we can figure this out?" He said lastly. Serena stared at him blankly. 'Was he really asking me to make this decision this second, right here?' She thought to herself angrily. "Kalin can I sleep on it? I can't just answer you?" She said back to him, trying hard not to slam his door as she got out from his car. "Serena, no." He said to Serena's surprise. "I'm not going to wait around, you either want me or you don't" he said again a little harsh. Serena was taken aback, it was like the old Kalin she once knew. "Kalin?", Serena said softly. Kalin looked back at her with empty eyes. She couldn't even recognize him in the moment. "I just wish I could go back and change everything" Serena said, tears welling up in her eyes. "Well you can't, so stop trying to change the past and work towards the future" Kalin said a little more sympathetic but still none the less rudely. Kalin wanted to get out of the car, and hug her tightly. He wanted to lay beside her and make sure she knew he was going to do everything he could to make sure she was ok, but he couldn't. He couldn't get himself to get out of the car. This has all happened before, and he wasn't going to let it happen again... Not this time. If she wanted him, she would've made that clear. His voice went completely cold as he said, "Serena I'm leaving in .5 seconds, make your mind up". She looked up at him in disbelief, then slammed his car door, "leave, you're not even worth it" she shouted, while now full on crying. Kalin rolled his window up and drove off heading back towards his own house. He was more angry than he had ever been in his life. Mixed emotions filling his thoughts. He wanted her to understand why he felt the way he did, but didn't know how to, causing him to be overly frustrated. Kalin turned away from his house and headed towards the gym. Shooting hoops seemed to be the only thing Kalin could think of to get his mind off of things.Amanda stared out the window. "Lala, your mom said 5 right?". Kalins baby sister looked up at her baby sitter, then nodded. "Yeah! That's what mom said" she said as she ran for the phone, "I'll call her again". She began to dial her moms number into the house phone. It rang twice before her mom answered, "Kalin?" She said. "Mommy its me! Do you know when kalins getting here? Mandy needs to leave!" Lala said back into the phone. Amanda saw lala hold the phone out from her ear, as she started laughing while her mom was evidently yelling on the other line. Lala said goodbye and walked back towards Amanda. "She said she will call Kalin right now, and then call us back to let us know" she said while giggling, "She was really mad". "I could tell" Amanda said laughing a little before continuing on, "listen Lala, so I normally wouldn't ask you this but is there anyone who I could call to watch you while your brother gets here? It's just I really have somewhere important I have to be". Lala nodded, "Serena's!!!" Lala said excitedly. Serena was Lalas third favorite person after her mom and older brother. Serena always bought her pretty dolls and on her birthday took her out to the movies. Lala loved her and hoped Amanda would drop her off.
"Um no not her" Amanda said almost to quick. Her and Serena went to the same school and as far as Amanda knew Serena, and Lyla were the most snobbiest girls she knew. Lyla and Amanda used to be best friends before Serena came into the picture. Serena not only stole Lyla, but her best friend slash childhood crush. Myles went completely ghost on her when Serena moved into town. She had attempted to win his attention back but stopped trying. Serena was always going to be more prettier, smarter, and better than she was no matter how hard she tried, so there was no point in even trying. "Pleaaaase" Lala pleaded. "No Lala, cmon lets watch a movie till your brother gets here, I'll just cancel my plans it's cool" Amanda unwillingly. Lala sighed then headed for the couch. They put in lion king and Lala was soon fast asleep on Amanda's lap.Kalin felt hours pass as he shot ball after ball. After what he felt was enough he headed for the showers. The gym was almost empty. He showered quickly then headed for his gym bag. Taking his phone out he unlocked his phone to 48 missed calls and 35 unread texts from 'mommy'. He then grabbed his keys from his locker and ran for his car. He sped his way home, and barged opened his house door to find Lala sound asleep on the couch. She was sleeping on an also very much asleep Amanda. Kalin ran towards Lala and held her tightly. He couldn't believe he forgot about his baby sister. A loud noise came from the kitchen and Amanda shot up from the couch. She opened her eyes sleepily and then said, "well hello, thanks for finally coming home" she said rolling her eyes, then began to collect her belongings. Kalin said something from underneath his breath and then his face went straight as a familiar voice screamed his name from the kitchen. "Kalin Jure White!", his mom shouted from the kitchen. Amanda smirked then headed for the house door. Kalin ran upstairs with Lala to tuck her into bed then came back down to face his mom. He took a deep breath then entered the kitchen as his mom began lecturing him on how to manage his time wisely.
Serena rested in her over filled bathtub with her ear phones plugged in, volume on the loudest. Tears were streaming down her rosy cheeks as she tried to block the rest of the world out. Her mind was overcrowded, thoughts of Kalin flooding her. 'Just as everything was falling into place he changed everything, he destroyed everything in the prettiest way' she thought to herself. She wanted to hate him for playing with her the way he did. He chose when he wanted to show her he liked her and it killed her.
Kalin took a bite of his dinner just as his mom finished the last bit of her lecture. "So anyways what's going on with you?", she said calmly. Kalin looked up at his mom and smiled. She knew his every emotion and feeling even before he knew and that's what he loved most about his mom. "Nothing really" he said back softly while he getting up from the table. Kalin wasn't used to feeling this fragile, the last thing he felt like doing was talking about Serena. "Kalin? Kalin where are you going?" His mom called after him and he walked out from the kitchen, unaware his mom was trailing after him. Kalin didn't stop as he made it to the stairway. "Kalin, stop hiding from your emotions, if you like her, tell her." Kalin stood frozen and he could feel the water welling up in his eyes. She continued, "I know feelings can be scary and overtake you but if you don't fix whatever's wrong you'll regret it". Tears began to fall from his cheek as she went on, " don't regret what makes you happy Kalin, go... Fix things". Kalin didn't look at his mom as he grabbed his keys from the table. Turning his car on he knew exactly where he was going.
He turned into the neighborhood and parked on the driveway. Sprinting to the doorway he rang the doorbell twice. No one answered, and he was beginning to become anxious as he rang it two more times.
Myles opened his house door to a disarranged kalin. "Kalin what the hell are you doing?" He said to his best friend before going on, "are you ok man?". Kalin was crying and myles was in complete and utter shock. He closed his house door as he stepped out. "Sit down man, cmon what happened?" He said to Kalin. They sat in silence for awhile before Kalin spoke. "Myles I kissed Serena, I'm the reason she said no, it's my fault, it's all my fault."Thanks you guys all for reading, and keeping up!!!
