Chapter 12

"You sure you want to try this out?" Amanda asked for what seemed to be the hundredth time. "Yes, manda, it won't hurt to try, see what we could be" Myles said. "Yeah except our friendship, which in the moment doesn't seem to be very important to you", Amanda said kind of hurt. "It does Amanda, but ignoring this will damage our friendship in the same way talking and it not working out will", Myles said as he reached for her hand. She flinched at first, but then slowly eased into letting him hold it. "Ok" she finally said. "Ok?" He asked. "Ok." Amanda said smiling. "Ok well we need to shake things up a bit", he said with his head pulled back. Amanda stared at Myles in confusion as he went on, "this isn't the fault in our stars" he said laughing, "cmon what's our always?" He said smiling, locking eyes with her, Amanda had never felt more complete.

Savannah hadn't noticed how long she was standing there until Cam startled her. "What are you doing Sav?", he said laughing. "Oh sorry", Savannah said wiping her tears off her face, "Oh and happy birthday cam". She tried her best to smile but she couldn't. She was hurt and the worst part was she had no right to be. Looking in the same direction as Savannah, cam eyed Serena and Kalin at a table in the back of the room. Cam grabbed her by her hand and sat her down at a table, "Savannah please don't tell me you're crying over Kalin", he said in all seriousness, "because if you are, I can't feel for you". More tears fell from her eyes as he continued, "he loved you, Savannah, yes the cold hearted Kalin loved someone. No one even thought he was capable of loving someone other than himself but he did, and it was you. It was you until you broke his heart.", cam said trying not to sound too harsh, "he was devastated for 6 months over you, and he finally just now rebuilt himself, Savannah" he continued staring into her pale blue eyes, "Savannah leave him alone for your sake and for his, please don't hurt him again".
"Yo cam, haaaaapppy birthday", a group of guys said to him. Cam waved at them, "I gotta go savs but just think about what I said before you do something irrational" he said before he left to his friends.
Savannah rested her head on the table, hoping she'd look back up and it would be this time last year.

"You suck", Conner shouts as Serena pulls a strike. "Jealous much?" She says smirking as she turns back to her friend, "go on, try and beat that" she says again sarcastically. "Yeah I'd rather not" he said laughing, while throwing an m&m into his mouth, "sooo, what's up with you and Kalin?", Conner asked knowingly. Serena made a funny face at him before going, "as if you don't already know".
"Well I'd just like to hear it from the source herself, make something official to report back, you know how it is" he said back laughing. "Well I mean yeah, we really like each other, he hasn't asked me to be his girl friend yet, but we're basically together." She said smiling at the mere thought of Kalin. "Serena, You know he's bad news, right?", Conner said in a brotherly tone, "I know I'm not your dad, I can't tell you what to do, but I'm just gonna ask you to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into".
Serena rolled her eyes, "I don't even know how many people today alone have told me this, but I don't care." Serena started as she continued, "you don't know him like I do, he's different with me, I, I really do lo-" Serena stopped before going on, " I have strong feelings for him I didn't even know I could have for someone. He's just misunderstood, part of what I love so much about him.".
"Just keep your eyes open, Serena", Conner said unconvinced.
"You got it", Serena said stealing an m&m and popping it in her mouth, "you got it.", she said again.

"So I have to apologize for the other night" Kalin said looking down at Savannah who appeared to be sleeping. "Sav?", Kalin said to her again, this time poking her on the cheek. Savannah wasn't sleeping and he knew this. She did this all the time when they dated, she'd pretend to sleep when she didn't want to talk about something, but he would always poke her or say something funny and she'd laugh or look back up at him. He caught a smile as she dug her head further into her arms. He poked her twice before he threatened to tickle her. "Ok ok you win" she said looking up at him with a smile. Kalin couldn't help but notice the black mascara that ran down her cheeks, "savs what's wrong?" He said as he sat beside her. "Nothing, I'm fine, just, its cool" she said scooting away from him. "Hey, don't be like that, you can tell me, just because we're not together doesn't mean I don't care for you?" He said hitting Savannah right in the heart.

"You're so mean Conner why won't you play with me, I'm getting so bored winning to myself" Serena said to Conner as he ate his 4th hot dog. He just smiled in return, "Will you ever stop eating?" She said again while laughing. "You should eat, Serena, you haven't eaten since you got here" Conner said back after the laughing had died down. "I guess, it would be funner than being here with you" she said turning back to him as she made her way to the food station.

"Kalin don't start please, I can't do this right now", Savannah said. "Savannah i know something's wrong, just let me be here for you", Kalin said trying to make up for kicking her out. "I still love you Kalin", Savannah said out of frustration. This caught him off guard as he moved back. "And seeing you with her hurts me" she said again, tears falling down her cheek again. "You're the reason we broke up, you, not me. You have no right Savannah" Kalin said angrily, "don't start this again, I can't go through it Savannah" he continued. "Kalin you can't build a relationship based off a lie" Savannah said as she saw a confused Serena heading towards the table from the back of Kalin. "What lie? What are you talking about Savannah?" Kalin asked.
"I bet you didn't tell her you made out with me that day we all met up at ihop", Savannah said to Kalin as she made eye contact with Serena who was now standing right behind Kalin. "Who do you keep looking at?" Kalin said as he turned around to Serena. Her eyes were filled with a puddle of tears as she kept saying, "I should have listened to them".
