"I'll just have a strawberry milkshake", Amanda said to the waitress at the diner, who nodded before walking back to the kitchen. It was silent for a moment before Myles spoke, "So winter formal is on friday", he asserted. Amanda could feel her stomach tie up in knots as she waited for the ten words she so desperately wanted to hear. Looking up at him from her phone, he went on, "Do you want to go to winter formal with me?", he asked her with a bright smile, as her heart dropped. Returning the smile she replied, "I would love too". 'This is the moment', Myles thought to himself, 'lean in man, just kiss her!'. For weeks now Myles was struggling to find the perfect moment to have their first kiss. Fourteen failed dates, and nine awkard situations later he still couldn't manage to figure it out. 'Winter formal," he assured himself, 'i'll do it at winter formal'. The door to the small diner rang distracting both Myles and Amanda.

It was Serena who walked in, her hair in a messy bun, no make up on, with clothes much too large for her petite body. Unaware that they were sitting there Serena made her way to the cashier. "Hi can i get a number three and four to-go?", she said softly. After paying, she took a seat at one of the pink chairs, paitently waiting for her food to be made when she heard a familar voice calling her name. "Myles!", Serena said happily, getting up from her seat, she walked towards their table. "Hi", Myles said, unsure of why he even called her over to him. He knew she hated Amanda and Savannah because of what happened at lunch on Monday but something deep inside of him didn't care. He felt like he hadn't seen her in forever, and quite frankly missed her and her bubbly personality. 'Why did he call her over here?', Amanda thought as she felt someone approaching the table. "i miss you!", Myles said. "Aw miss you too Meelz, with school starting it's hard to keep up with everything you know?", Serena replied sympathetically. Myles nodded in reply before going on, "so what brings you here?", he asked. Completely disregaurding Amandas presence Serena carried the conversation on further, "Just picking up food for Kalin and I", she said awkwardly. Myles could feel his cheeks go hott in an angry way, he didn't know why, but even the smallest thought, or mention of the two of them being back together got him upset. "Oh you guys are back together I see", Myles said, concealing his temper, "thought i recognized the shirt", he said again with a wink. "Order 101", a worker shouted. "oh thats me!", she said back with a sly smile before Serena left. For the rest of their date a sour expression was spread across Myles's face, and Amanda knew exactly why

"And this one?", Savannah asked her friend, twirling around in a long red sequined dress. "beautiful", Tyler said softly, unintended to be said outloud. "Its cool", Tyler said quickly after, loud enough for her to hear. "You've said that about each and every one ive tried on so far, hate stupid myles for stealing amanda", Savannah said irritatingly, closing the fitting room curtain behind her. Tyler wanted her too know how pretty she looked in every dress she tried on, how even if she wore a paper bag on she would be the most beautiful person there. However he kept quiet, being there only for moral support. He knew better than to spring a move on her, she wasn't ready, still hungover on Kalin. Thinking about Kalin just made Tyler want to punch a wall. He had everything a guy could possibly want, ruined it in the worst possible way, and still managed to fall back where he started. Savannah opened the curtain once more, this time showcasing a salmon pink glittery dress, instantly changing Tylers bad mood. "this is the one, you look incredible", Tyler said speaking loud enough for her to hear, "and hey, since Amanda probably already has a date, want to be my date?", he asked, holding her breath and crossing his fingers. "Thanks Ty, and um", Savannah said feeling a little awkward. "Like as friends", he quickly added, his tone in voice changing. She laughed a little before replying, "yeah sure Ty, by the way you're being really weird today". Savannah went back into her fitting room, her phone vibrating on the floor. Savannah picked her phone up, and read the text outloud softly.

"Babe she won't even leave her room, her mom said she has eaten since Monday, and I'm the only person that she even allows to come into her room", Serena vented, talking about Lyla. "Well her boyfriend since basically middle school did just cheat on her with her best friend", he said before taking a large bite out of his sandwich. "I know, I just wish there was something I could do, you know?", Serena said pushing her food back, her appetite fading away. Kalin gave her a small peck on the cheek before comforting her, "you have, there's nothing more for you to do, just be paitent", he said before she got up from the floor of his bedroom. "I'll be right back", she said making her way to his bathroom. The door closed behind her when her phone vibrated. Kalin glanced at it, and then again, noticing it was a text notification from Myles. Kalin leaned over it grab it, but hesitated. 'Am I really gonna invade her privacy like that?', he thought, leaning away from the phone. He put his focus on the tv that was on, when it rang four more times, 'fuck it', he thought as he grabbed the phone and put in her passcode.

Steam arose from Kalin, as the water turned off from the bathroom. The doorknob turned open as Kalin placed the phone back where it was originally. "Babe, I have to go dress shopping in a little bit", she said with a sad face, "but I don't wanna leaveeee", she said again taking a seat on his lap. Kalin chuckled, "then don't leave", Kalin said back attempting to change his mood, "why do you even need a dress? You could wear what you're wearing right now and still be beautiful", he said to her as she laughed loudly before grabbing her phone off the ground, noticing it was vibrating.

By the way, please, please do not bring this up to Kalin, we just fixed things, and he would tell Amanda, I just need this to be private

Serena scrolled up and read the previous texts, her mind running wildly. 'What the hell am I supposed to do', she thought furiously, 'Meet him up? Tell Kalin? Ruin our friendship?'. "What is it babe?", Kalin asked waiting for her to confront the situation. Her phone vibrated again with another text.

"Nothing", Serena said, plastering a fake smile he read through so clearly, "I have to go now", she added while grabbing her bag from off the bed. Kalin angrily stared at the floor, wondering why she wouldn't tell him. "What mall?", he asked skeptically. "Um the one by my house, but I'm picking cara and Matt up first, plus I can't go looking like this", she said pointing to herself, curious as to why he instantly got super weird. "Bye babe", she said kissing him before heading down the stairs. Sitting in her car, far away from over protective Kalin, she sat, thinking about what to do. She didn't know why she wanted to meet up with him. Maybe to resolve what actually happened? She did have real feelings for myles but they were swept away when Kalin gave her even the least bit of attention. What she felt for myles was innocent, and what she felt for Kalin was bad, it was an addiction he let her feed off of. He repetitively treated her like shit, and she let him, only waiting for the two second thrill she got when he let her in and opened up to her. With Kalin it was a roller coaster, and with Myles it was a straight road. Serena so desperately wanted to meet up with him, see what he had to say, but she didn't have it in her heart to do that to Kalin. No matter what she felt for Myles she had to force it to go away. He had Amanda, and Serena knew what ever she felt for Myles was magnified by a thousand for Kalin. 'This is phase', she assured to herself as she was about to text Myles back saying she couldn't meet him up, when her most favorite person made her decision for her, and changed everything.

Meet him up, or poor Kalin might find out your "oh nothing" was nothing but a lie.
