Yellow and Red's mom, Delia, speed-walked into the hospital. Delia instantly went to the front desk, with Yellow standing next to her.
"Yes, I would like to visit Red..."
Yellow watched Delia's expressions. It was a mix of worry and panic. Something Yellow would have expressed on her face, but she didn't. All of her worry and panic were tucked inside of Yellow. It was like a storm inside her stomach.
"Room 206? Got it. Thank you so much!"
Yellow followed Red's mom down the halls of the hospital. Yellow read every sign above each door, looking for the number 206. They climbed up the stairs in the hurry, and Yellow spotted the number 206 above a door that looked just like the other doors. Plain white and basic, blending in perfectly with the walls.
Delia opened the door and walked in, and Yellow followed her.
"Red! Honey! Are you okay??" Red's mom said, rushing to the hospital bed, where Red sat. His leg was propped up, and it was in a black boot.
Yellow rushed over right next to Delia. "Red! How are you?" She said, trying to not sound like a worried mother. She easily failed.
"Guys, I'm fine..." Red said, giving the two worried moms a reassuring smile. "Seriously... I just broke my leg, it's not that bad."
"Not that bad?! NOT THAT BAD??" Yellow shouted. Delia put her hand on Yellow's shoulder to calm her down. Yellow took a deep breath. "Sorry." She cleared her throat. "You got sent to the hospital! It is bad!"
"How did this happen?" Delia asked, her hand still on Yellow's shoulder.
Red hesitated. "Uh... I fell from a-"
Delia's watch dinged. She took a quick look at it and walked out the room. "Sorry! I have to pick up Ash from the day care! Take care, both of you!"
Yellow and Red sighed in unison.
"Go on," Yellow said. She sat in a chair in the corner, ready to listen.
"Well, I- uh, I fell from a window..."
"What?!" Yellow said, trying to keep her voice down. She cleared her throat again. "Uh, sorry. But why would you jump out of a window?"
"I was trying to get somewhere..." Red said.
"Couldn't you just take a door or something?"
"It's complicated."
Yellow opened her mouth to speak, but the door to Red's room opened, with a nurse walking into the room. The nurse looked at Yellow.
"Sorry, ma'am, but visiting hours are now over." The nurse said. They instantly walked out of Red's room, not letting Yellow have any objections.
Yellow pouted, and walked out of the room. She waved at Red before she closed the door, and Red waved back.
. . .
Yellow held her phone up to her ear, waiting for Platinum to respond. Platinum was the only friend she knew who could get her a ride home, since she lived in Viridian City.
The phone picked up.
"Platinum!" Yellow said.
"Hi, Yellow!" Platinum said from the other side of the phone. "Do you need something?"
"Yeah.. Can you give me a ride home? I'm at the Viridian City hospital."
"Sure! I'll be there in a flash!"
Before Yellow could say goodbye, Platinum hung up the phone.
. . .
Yellow tapped her foot on the ground impatiently. It has been around fifteen minutes, and Platinum hasn't arrived yet.
What if she doesn't arrive? Yellow thought.
But just as Yellow was going to call somebody else to pick her up, a limo appeared, and it stopped right in front of Yellow. one of the back doors in the limo opened, and Platinum hopped out.
"Hey, Yellow! Hop on in!" Platinum said, keeping the back door open.
"I- Okay..." Yellow said as she climbed into the back seat of the fancy limo. It was possibly too fancy for Yellow, it made her a little uncomftarble. "Thank you..." She said, when Platinum got in and sat next to her.
"It's no problem!" Platinum said. "Now, where are you headed?"
"Uh... Pallet Town."
Platinum leaned over some of the seats so she could talk to the driver. The driver nodded, and Platinum leaned back to where she was sitting with Yellow.
"So, why were you at the hospital?" Platinum asked.
"Red broke his leg..." Yellow said, looking down at her lap.
"Oh... How did he break his leg?"
Yellow thought for a moment. Red didn't explain how he broke his leg with much context. "He said he fell out of a window."
Platinum nodded. "I would have thought it was from track or running. Your friend is amazing at running! I go to the track meets to watch Sapphire and Pearl... Red is like, the top in the class!"
"Wow..." Yellow said. She remembered when she used to do track in her old school. She quit after she found out she needed to move. Yellow never was a fan of after school sports.
Platinum looked out of the window. "Look, Yellow! We are here!" She said.
The limo stopped, and Platinum hopped out so Yellow could get out. (for context, Yellow was sitting in the middle seat). Yellow got out of the car and waved to Platinum as she drove off.
Yellow walked to her house and entered. Her mom got a new job, so she wasn't able to be home in the evenings. That was fine for Yellow, though. Since she didn't feel like eating after finding out about Red's broken leg. She was too worried about Red than her own hunger.
Yellow walked upstairs to her bedroom, and she sat on her bed. Yellow opened her text page to Red and read the past texts she had with him during homeroom. Yellow stared at the one text he sent. When he said he was sick.
What did Red mean saying he was sick? He didn't sound sick or even cough once when Yellow visited him at the hospital. And when he said he broke his leg from falling from a window, was he telling the truth or not? If he was, why would he fall from a window if he was sick?
Yellow held her head. She was getting a headache from all of this intense thinking. She changed into some pajamas, and went to sleep, even if it was only 8:00 pm.
