"You guys are together?" Iida had asked, flipping through pages of his book.

"Yeah, I think I really love him..." Midoriya smiled to himself, feeling content.

"You think?"

"Well, yeah? I'm not sure. He makes me happy but this doesn't feel like how everyone else describes it, you know?" Midoriya mumbled, his smile starting to fade.

"Midoriya, why are you dating him exactly?" Iida asked, shutting his book and staring over at his friend.

"Well, because he asked me out. And I, uhm. I didn't really want to say no because I feel like that would have hurt his feelings. But after our first date, and after I've actually got to know him more, he really makes me happy and I enjoy being with him."

"Okay, so try this," Iida stood up and started to walk around the room. "Close your eyes and picture yourself in a room with 3 people."

"Why three?" 

"Because you've only ever dated and believed you had feelings for 3 people." Iida explained.

"Oh, okay. So picture those 3 people in the room with me?"

"Exactly." Iida spoke, glancing over at his friend. "Now, they're all in front of you, side by side, a few feet apart. You guys are just standing there, staring at each other. It's quiet, but suddenly a gunshot goes off. Who do you run to for safety?"

"What?"

"Todoroki, Ochako, and Melissa are in front of you, a gunshot goes off and you're running. Who do you run to?"

"What does that have to do with anything?" Midoriya asked, feeling confused as he looked over at his friend.

"The first person you run to, is the person you love and trust with your life. Think about it tonight, alright? Now come on, dinners almost ready."

The first person you run to, huh?

"Hey, you look a little stressed out. Everything okay?" Todoroki asked as he leaned back in bed.

"Yeah, uh..." Izuku mumbled, trying to sound reassuring. "Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?"

"You don't seem okay, Izuku. Are you sure everything is alright?"

"Uh, well." Well now was the chance to just say it. "Do you think that we really even love each other? I mean, we're only like 16 now..."

"Uhm." Todoroki said, unsure of the correct response for that.

"Like, I like you... But I don't think I..." Midoriya took a deep breath before continuing. "I don't think I love you, Shouto."

"You don't think you, you love me?"

"No."

"Uhm, so why did you--"

"Because I didn't want to hurt your feel--..." Midoriya stopped when he saw Todoroki flinch slightly. "I really do like you but  I'm not ga--"

"No, it's fine. I actually only asked you out because I wanted to see if I was gay, but I'm not. Clearly, but thank you for clearing this up because I wasn't sure how to break it off if you actually had feelings, haha." Todoroki mumbled as he got up, stretching before gathering his things up.

"Oh, you did?" Why did that hurt him? Midoriya tried to put on a smile to make it seem as if that sentence didn't bother him. 

"Uhm, yeah. Well, I have to go. I told my dad I'd be home for dinner tonight since it's the weekend."

"But you hate going over to your dad's..." Midoriya mumbled softly, looking up at his boyfri- his best friend for an answer.

'You remember the smallest details and yet you claim you don't have feelings for me. Great.' Todoroki thought as he gave his friend a soft smile.

"My brothers and sisters are coming back tonight and I wanted to see them." He's always been good at lying.

"Oh..." Midoriya spoke softly as he watched Todoroki leave, shutting the door behind him.

'What did I do?'
