{Theo}
"Ask her if she wants to come over for dinner."
Ma asks as soon as I answer the phone."Good morning to you too, ma."
I mutter, turning on my side."What are you doing asleep at 12?"
She scolds.I glance over at Ayah, who is knocked out on the other couch. We both fell asleep while watching SpongeBob.
"She works overnight."
I tell her."Oh, she is just the sweetest girl I've ever met. You better take your head out of your ass and not mess this up, ugh I still remember what happened with that poor girl Sylvia."
I immediately start scowling.
"I hate it when you bring up my exes ma, shh."
I bite my lip and peek back over at Ayah.Still asleep.
"I'm coming over later to fix your sink."
I mutter, stretching slowly."For the last time, I can call someone to fix things around here-"
"People take advantage of you because you're too nice, ma. I'll do it, I've fixed plenty of sinks before."
I say firmly."Are you out of your mind?"
I sigh.
"Ma-""I am a grown woman, Theo. I've been walking around on this earth for 48 years, I can smell bullshit a mile away."
"Those maintenance guys like you, they might try something sneaky."
I growl. It is very irritating to have a beautiful single mother in a town full of old greasy snakes.
"You're just as overprotective as..."
She trails off."Don't, that isn't fair."
I whisper."Fine. Sei il mio figlio preferito e ti amo."
She says softly like she always does. When I turn, Ayah is staring up at me.
"I'm sorry if I woke you up."
I say gruffly, setting a bottle of water next to her as I pass by."It's okay. Where are you going?"
"I need to take care of something over at my ma's house."
She sits up immediately.
"Ooh, can I...is it okay if I come with you?"
She asks carefully.I hesitate.
"You should get some more sleep, my love."
I say softly."I'm not tired!"
I sigh.
"Fine, you can take my card and go do something nice with my mom while I'm busy but you need to promise me you will tell me everything she says about me."
I warn after careful consideration."Yeah, whatever."
She's already rushing to get ready.
..
.
{Ayah}Mrs. Bridges is very nervous on our way to the spa.
"I haven't been in ages."
Is all she says when I ask about it.I can't help but be excited to be spending time with her without Theo around.
He never lets her tell me anything about him.
"Relax, it's that grace period in the day where nobody is there and the mud bath is empty."
I mutter, nodding towards it when we pass by.

Dragoste"Ayah, this is my roommate, Theo." I smile politely at the scowling man, not making a move to shake his hand like I usually do when I meet a friend of Mason. He looks like he'd rip my arm off even if his arms weren't full. "Ah, so this is the little...
