School
Jayna
I groan as my phone goes off signalling it's time to get out of bed. I pull the pillow from my face, rolling over to glare at my cursed phone. Today is the last day I have to wake up this early. Then it's sleep-in till noon days all year. I smile at that thought, getting out of my warm bed to get ready for school. I go through my regular routine taking the time to curl my black hair and put some make up on. After putting on a cute sundress with some matching wedges, I head out to the kitchen.
"Good morning, Jayna." My mother says cheerily, turning to smile at me from the stove where she's making pancakes. My grandmother sits at the table, eating her plate of pancakes. I kiss her cheek, bidding her good morning before moving to my mother and doing the same. "Last final exam, right?" She asks as I hug her.
"Yep!" I say excitedly, ready to be done with school. I have this exam in the bag, then I'll get to spend the next year traveling across Europe with my friends. "Gab, Lest, and I are going to go out to lunch then come back here to finish up our planning." I inform her, hugging her tighter as I grab a plate.
"How are they doing?" She asks me, dumping a stack of pancakes on my plate. I kiss her cheek again, grabbing a fork and the maple syrup.
"They're good." I smile, sitting down across from my grandma as I think of my friends. "Gabie's excited to graduate. Lest loves seeing her so happy and excited." I shovel the pancakes into my mouth, savouring the sugary taste. "They're happy, as always. I don't think the two know how to argue or fight." She laughs at that, turning off the stove and joining us.
"They do seem to be perfect for each other." She says, smiling warmly. I loved that idea, finally finding the one person who's completely perfect for me. Kind of like Lest and Gabie. They're soulmates and no one can change my mind on that.
I finish eating and gather my stuff, putting everything I'll need into my bag before leaving. I exit my house just in time to see Lest pull up in his cobalt blue 2018 Volkswagen beetle. He stops leaving the engine running as Gabie gets out, waving at me. She looks stunning as ever. Her red hair is pulled back in a ponytail. A black tank top hugs her curved figure. Lest's football jacket is on over her tank top. She wears black shorts and black thigh high socks with rainbows just above her knees. On her feet are her favourite beat up sneakers.
"Come on!" She smiles warmly at me as her green eyes glimmer. "Hurry up,we're almost free." I laugh at that, joining them in the car after climbinginto the back seat. The ride is filled with laughs and smiles as well as Lestmaking fun of us as we rock out to the music coming from the radio. They dropme off at the university, leaving me to my exam. I walk through the building, greeting different people as I go to my class. I settle into my seat for the next several hours.

I step into Charlotte's Café, a small café not too far from the university campus. It's a hot spot for most of the students. When I enter, I spot Lest cleaning the counter before going into the back and getting something for someone. A group of football boys sit at one of the large tables, entertaining and enjoying themselves. Scanning the room, I spot a familiar head of ginger hair.
Jason. The guy I've been totally infatuated with since second year of high school. We're not exactly close but we know each other. I walk towards the counter, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. As I'm not looking, I run into someone, tripping over my heels.
"Careful." I hear a male voice say as a hand grabs my waist to steady me. I look up to see Jason's beautiful amber eyes. I can feel a blush rising on my cheeks from my clumsiness. "Clunky shoes. They're cute but you 'ought to be more careful walking in them." His smile makes my knees go weak. His hand is so warm through the fabric of my dress.
