Jayna
His eyes are the same molten gold from my dreams, pupils in thin slits like a cat. His features are more ruggedly handsome than I remember them being if that were possible. I stare at him, mouth agape as his eyes connects with mine. I swear my heart stops beating for a minute and I stop breathing.
"I suggest your mutts release me." He says, voice clipped and rugged, not the silk I remember from my dreams. The guards holding him stiffen as the man lets out a menacing growl. He steps forwards and his fist cracks across Fafnir's raised cheekbone. I'm surprised when he pulls his fist back and hasn't cut his knuckles on Fafnir's cheekbone. Fafnir spits out a wad of blood and saliva at the man's feet.
"I've met women who hit harder." He says with a cocky smirk. Gabie and I rush past the layer of guards before the crowd. I run to Fafnir's side to ensure he is okay as Gabie places herself between us and the man. The man was raising his fist to hit again but stops dead in his tracks when Gabie stands before him.
"I will not let you harm him, Damon." She tells him, hands balled into fists at her side. The guards have backed away from us, staring with wide eyes at Gabie.
"Gabriella, step aside." Damon tells her, eyes flashing from white to gold.
"What's wrong? Is your poor little wolf angry I'm challenging his authority?" Gabie says sarcastically. "This man has saved my life many times, I will not allow you to hurt him." Whispers break out across the crowd as Damon and Gabie stare each other down.
"You're all dismissed." Damon says thinly hidden rage in his voice. The people in the hall clear out very quickly. "I'd strangle you if you weren't my mate." Damon spits venom at Gabie.
"The feeling is mutual dickwad." Gabie returns smartly. Movement beside me pulls my attention away from their bickering. Fafnir is reaching under his cloak to his back. I can see confusion flicker in his eyes as his hands tap across his large back wildly.
"Where are my axes?" He asks softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear. Gabie turns her body to face him, raising a questioning brow from him to the guards behind him.
"What axes?" Damon asks, eyes also on the guards.
"We confiscated a battle axe from him when we apprehended him." The guard on the right explained. "But it disappeared the moment I picked it up." Rage quickly bubbles in Fafnir's eyes. He stretches his hand before himself, focusing on his hand. His arm shakes as he tries to do something, but nothing happens. His eyes open and land on his empty hand. He lets out an animalistic snarl as he moves to his feet and goes to attack the guard with inhuman speed.
Damon moves just as quickly, stopping Fafnir and pinning him to one of the many pillars in the foyer. Fafnir pulls his fist back, punching Damon off him easily. I swear I hear something cracking in Damon's face at the force of Fafnir's punch. He staggers back a couple steps, holding his face as he glares at Fafnir. I hear a pop as Damon sets his jaw back into its proper place. He advances on Fafnir, throwing a punch at Fafnir who dodges it. Quickly, Damon counters with a hard kick straight to Fafnir's chest.
Fafnir hits the ground on his back, rolling to avoid the foot barrelling down on his face. He sweeps his leg out hitting Damon at the knees, knocking the large man to the ground. Both men sit in a crouched fighting position, their stance mirroring each other. They go to lunge at one another, but a wall of fire appears between the two of them stopping both men in their tracks.
"You're both acting like children." Gabie says harshly as she crosses her arms. Damon looks at her as if he is a child being scolded by his mother. "Both of you peacefully to the medical wing. Now." Both men silently follow Gabie as she leads them away. I silently walk beside her, stealing glances at Fafnir. He cradles his side around his ribs as he walks. Damon limps slightly while holding his jaw. They walk into a room where a doctor and his attendant are chatting. "Doctor, if you could please fix these idiots that would be appreciated." Gabie says with a sweet smile.
