Strictly Dancing: A New Generation

Return to Dancing

1 year later, after her accident at Regionals last year and after spending a year of physical therapy and with the full support from her family, Emily makes a full recovery and is no longer paralysed. Emily is so happy to be able to walk again and do independent things without any help from her family or friends. 

One night, at the apartment, Sky and Paige join Scott and Emily for dinner. Scott cooks dinner, while Emily sets up the table and Sky and Paige enjoys a glass of wine on the couch. Emily sees a plate of roast Brussel sprouts on the kitchen counter. "Hey, Dad! Are the Brussel sprouts ready to be placed on the table?", Emily asked. 

"Yeah, put them on the table, honey.", Scott smiled, as he checks on the roast chicken, which is cooking in the oven. Emily takes the Brussel sprouts to the table and Sky comes up to her. "Hey, Emily!", Sky called out. "Yeah?", Emily asked, turning around to face him. "Do you have a sec?", Sky asked. "Yeah, sure.", Emily replied, going up to him. 

"I'll get some more wine.", Paige replied, getting up from the couch and leaves as Emily approaches. "What is it, Uncle Sky?", Emily asked. "Emily, I think last year has been tough for you.", Sky sighed. "Tough for us, Uncle Sky.", Emily smiled. 

"Right, but I'm so happy and proud of the great progress you have done, during your time of recovery.", Sky smiled. "Thank you, Uncle Sky. I appreciate it.", Emily smiled. "Well, your dad, Paige and I have been talking and we think it's time for you to return to the dance floor.", Sky smiled. 

Emily is surprised by his words. "You mean, I'm ready to return to dancing?", Emily asked. "Yes, you're ready to come back.", Sky smiled. "Yes!", Emily cried, as she gets up from the couch and jumps with joy. Sky gets up and Emily hugs him. Sky laughs as he hugs her, before lifting her off her feet and spin her around. 

Scott and Paige watch as Emily and Sky embrace with joy and smiles. "She's ready for this.", Paige smiled. "She is.", Scott smiled back as he and Paige joins Sky and Emily. Emily hugs Paige. "I'm happy for you, Em.", Paige sighed. "You deserve this.", Scott smiled, and Emily hugs him. "Thank you, Dad.", Emily sighed. 

"Let's propose a toast, to Emily.", Paige smiled, giving Emily a glass of wine. "Cheers, to Emily!", Paige smiled, raising her wine glass. "To Emily!", Scott and Sky smiled, raising their drinks together and Emily joins in. "Come on, everybody! Dinner's ready!", Scott smiled, leading everyone to the dinner table. 

After dinner, Sky and Paige leaves the apartment to return to theirs and Scott, who is getting ready to go to bed, finds Emily sitting outside on the fire escape near the window, looking at the night view of the city. Scott comes out to join her. 

"Hey.", Scott called out. "Hey.", Emily smiled, as Scott sat next to her. "Aren't you suppose to be in bed?", Scott asked. "Yeah, I'm just still overwhelmed over what Uncle Sky told me. I've been waiting for this day for a year. I finally get to dance again.", Emily sighed. 

"You been through a lot,  sweetheart and you deserve to come back on doing what you love.", Scott smiled. Emily smiles at him and he smiles back at her, before they both look at the night skyline. Emily slowly moves close to Scott and rest her head on his shoulder. "Thank you.", Emily sighed. 

"For what?", Scott asked. "For not giving up on me.", Emily smiled. Scott smiles at her words and rest his head on her head, as they both look upon the night skyline.
