Meet the Family

After driving around the city, Emily and Derek arrives to his family's house. "Here we are.", Derek replied, as he comes out of the taxi cab. Emily looks up and sees the house for the first time. "It's amazing!", Emily cried, as she comes out of the taxi cab, with Derek helping her out.

They collect their bags from the back and Derek rings the bell of the front door. The door suddenly opens and Derek's sister, Harper answers the door, she is surprise to see her brother standing outside in front of her. "Derek!", Harper cried, as she greets him with a hug. "Hey, Harps!", Derek smiled, hugging her back.

"I'm so happy to see you.", Harper smiled. "Me too.", Derek sighed. Harper then sees Emily next to her. "And you must be Emily.", Harper replied. "I am. Nice to meet you, Harper.", Emily greeted. Harper quickly greets Emily with a hug, which surprises her.

"Derek has told me so much about you.", Harper smiled. "Thanks, he told me about you too.", Emily smiled, while hugging her, awkwardly. Suddenly, Derek's mother, Shirley appears from behind. 

"Easy, Harper! Give your brother and his girlfriend some personal space.", Shirley replied, as Harper moves back from them. "Hi, Mum.", Derek greeted with a smile, hugging her."Derek, my darling. It's so good to have you home, I've missed you so much.", Shirley sighed. "Me too, Mum. I missed you too.", Derek sighed. 

Shirley notice Emily next to Derek. "And who is this lovely, young lady?", Shirley asked. "Mum, this is Emily, my dance partner, and my girlfriend. Em, this is my mother, Shirley Williams.", Derek replied.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs Williams.", Emily greeted with a polite smile. "Nice to meet you too, Emily. And please call me Shirley. Mrs Williams makes me feel old.", Shirley replied, as Emily smiles. Then, Derek's father, Henry appears behind his wife and daughter. "Hello, Dad.", Derek smiled, as he goes to hug his father. "Welcome home, son.", Henry smiled, before noticing Emily.

"Hello, Mr Williams.", Emily smiled. Henry smiles and took Emily's hand in his, as a warm greeting. "Hello, Emily. Welcome to our household. Come in. Help Emily and your brother with their bags, Harper!", Henry called out. Harper takes both of Derek and Emily's bags inside the house, and have them in Derek's old bedroom.

"Derek, why don't you show Emily around the house while your sister and I put on the kettle, and get some tea ready?", Shirley asked. "Yeah, sure. Come on, Em.", Derek replied, taking her around the house. After showing Emily around the house, he then lastly takes her his old bedroom, which remains the same and all of his stuff still there. 

"Wow, I still can't believe my parents hasn't change my room at all.", Derek replied. "Well, I guess, they want to keep it that way, whenever you come back home, and have it ready for you.", Emily smiled. "Yeah.", Derek smiled. Emily looks at Derek's photo frames, on his table and see so many photos of himself as a child and teenager, with his family and friends. 

"Is this you?", Emily asked. Derek goes up to her and sees her holding a photo of him as a boy with his parents. "Yes, that's me.", Derek replied. "You seem happy, in all of them.", Emily replied. "Well, I have great memories in my life, but not as great as meeting you.", Derek sighed. Emily looks at him and Derek leans down and kisses her. 

Downstairs, Shirley and Harper put on afternoon tea in the living room. Derek, Emily, tea's ready!", Harper called out. "Come on, let's go!", Derek smiled, as he and Emily heads downstairs and join his family for afternoon tea. On the coffee table, it filled with English tea and foods, such as traditional tea sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and Victoria sponge cake.

"This looks amazing, Mrs Williams!", Emily smiled. "Thank you, Emily and please call me Shirley.", Shirley smiled. "What shall we start off with first?", Emily asked. "Tea sandwich first, because dessert always come last.", Derek replied. "Now, they're all different fillings, so try all of them.", Shirley replied.
