Back at Derek's apartment, Emily told Derek everything about her mother's unexpected presence. Emily is in the living room, thinking about what she said to Martha, whilst Derek is in the kitchen, making some hot chocolate for Emily.

"I thought Mom didn't care about me, and that she had forgotten about me.", Emily sighed, as Derek listens to her. "That's not true, Em. Mothers will never forget their children and they'll always care about you, no matter what.", Derek replied.

"Derek, I haven't seen my mother since I was 4 years old. On the night she vanished, she and my Dad had a big argument, and the next thing, she was gone and I haven't seen her ever since. She didn't even show up to any of my birthdays, or our family holidays, or even at any dance competition. She didn't even write me a single letter.", Emily sighed.

"Maybe your mum felt ashamed and embarrassed.", Derek replied. "Yeah, right.", Emily scoffed. "Em, I'm serious. Your mum may failed you in your life, but now, she's back and is wants a chance to make it right for you. You need to forgive her, because you'll may never know when it'll be the last time you'll see her again.", Derek sighed.

After hearing Derek's thoughtful words, Emily thought about it. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I should forgive my mom.", Emily sighed. "Now that, is the Emily that I fell in love with.", Derek smiled, as Emily hugs him. "Thank you, thank you for encouraging me.", Emily sighed. The two lovers share a kiss and a smile. "Want me to come with you, for moral support?", Derek asked.

"Yes and I also need a lift back, because I ran all the way here.", Emily smiled, which makes her and Derek laugh. "Ok, I'll drive you home. Come on.", Derek smiled, as he and Emily heads to his car and they drive back to Emily's apartment. They arrive to the apartment.

"You stay out here, it's best if it's just my mom and I.", Emily replied. "Ok, fair enough. I'll be out here waiting.", Derek replied. They kiss before Emily goes inside and Derek stayed outside, waiting. Emily heads inside and Martha is still there, talking to Scott. Martha notice Emily coming in. "Emily.", Martha replied.

"Emily, you need to apologise to your mother.", Scott replied. "Scott...", Martha cried. "It's ok, Mom. Can you please give me some time with Mom?", Emily asked. "Alright, I'll be in my studies.", Scott replied, as he leaves. Emily then sat on the couch next to Martha. There was an awkward silence between them both and Martha starts talking.

"Emily, before you say anything, I...", Martha sighed. "Mom, I want to say I'm sorry, about what I said to you earlier. I shouldn't have been so mad at you and saying those things to you.", Emily sighed. "It's ok, Em.", Martha smiled. "No, it's not ok. I shouldn't have said that you weren't my mom.", Emily sighed, as tears come down from her eyes. Martha tries to console her.

"Emily, look at me.", Martha sighed, as she held Emily's face with her hands and Emily looks at her. "I don't care how bad you hurt me and how hurtful those words were, I forgive you and from this day forward, I'll be there for you no matter what. Every holiday, I'll be there. Every birthday, I'll be there. Every dance competition, I'll be there. I'll be there, always.", Martha smiled.

Emily smiles at her loving words and hugs Martha in tears, finally reconciling her relationship with her mother. "I love you, sweetheart.", Martha cried. "I love you, too.", Emily sighed, as they embrace for a while, as Scott watches them with a smile. "You can come out, Dad.", Emily smiled, as Scott comes out and join them in for a group hug.

Derek, who listened from outside, smile and he leaves the apartment building, to let Emily have some alone time with her parents. He messages her about his departure and drives away, as Emily receives Derek's message on her phone.
