Flashback to the incident.
Bakugou POV
"Midoriya. Bakugou. Kirishima. Come with me."
"Where are we going. And who are you." Kirishima questions.
"I work for Shouto Todoroki. We need your help. The three of you are closest to him. You need to fix him."
"Fix him? What do you mean? What's going on?" I question starting to get a little scared.
"Well. He's on a mission currently. But something happened. We can't get him to calm down. He just keeps screaming about his dad and Touya. None of us can get close to him. Every time we try, he freaks out."
"What happened exactly?" Midoriya asks. I'll let his questions slide just this once. For Todoroki's sake. I know he's a friend to Todoroki. Which I still don't completely understand. But it's whatever.
"We don't know. His comms were cut off. We don't know what he saw or heard. But it pushed him past his breaking point. He's hysterical. We all thought his three closest friends would be able to get through to him. We already captured the villain. We don't know if it's a quirk that did this. But we need help. Now. Especially before anyone sees."
"Why can't you just sedate him?" Kirishima asks. "We've tried. He won't let us"
"Won't let you?" I raise an eyebrow. "Something about this sounds off." I say again. "We're almost there. You'll be able to see for yourself what we mean"
We all get out the car to find a hysterical Shouto. Kirishima and I look at each other, a little heartbroken to see him in such a state. Our best friend. The three of us approach him quietly. Like we're trying not to scare off a baby bunny. We stay low and try to get as close to him as we can. He's been through too much. He doesn't deserve this. He notices we're there and before we can talk to him he shoots ice at us.
"We're going to need to restrain him!" Midoriya says dodging his attacks.
"How do you suppose we do that dumbass?!" I yell back.
"I'll use full cowl and restrain him that way! The two of you can talk to him then!"
"Fine" Kirishima and I say in unison.
Midoriya unleashes full cowl and restrains him. Kirishima and I walk up to him and hug him and start whispering in his ear how much we love him and how much we want him to come back.
"We miss you. Please come back. We need you. We need our best friend. Please." I say stroking his hair.
"We don't know what happened. Or what you heard or saw. But you are nothing like your dad. You could never be. You are so kind and gentle and caring and amazing." Kirishima says after me.
"We love you. So much. Please come back" I say again. Hugging him tighter. I finally feel a small gentle hand tug on my shirt. I look down to see Todoroki, finally complying. He looks up at me for a split second before he passes out. Midoriya releases him and we take him to the hospital.
"He won't wake up anytime soon. He's gonna be out for a least a couple days. He needs to stay here." All the doctors agreed. "But he's gonna be okay right?" Kirishima questions before I can step in. "We won't know until he wakes up, unfortunately." They say as they walk away.
We both sit next to him. Hoping he wakes up soon.
"I knew it. This is all too much for him still." I say, angry that he's still choosing to pursue this career.
"Hey. Don't say that. He's doing good. He's gonna be fine. He's in therapy to help with everything. What happened today doesn't mean all his progress is lost. It's just a small bump in the road." Kirishima says placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Todoroki is making really great progress despite everything he's gone through. I mean his childhood was harsh. And then he went to UA only to have villains attack the school multiple times, one of his best friends get kidnapped by said villains, constantly have his dad still up his ass, then have to intern with his dad. But he's still the sweet, kind, caring, Todoroki he's always been. You don't give him enough credit" Kirishima says, now holding Todoroki's hand.
"He doesn't need credit. He needs to be safe. I don't want to lose him." I respond, looking at Todoroki. "We're not going to lose him. Sometimes I think you worry about him more than he worries about anything" Kirishima let's out a laugh, trying to lighten the mood. I glare at him. Now is not the time for jokes.
Kirishima and I stayed at the hospital until he woke up. We never left his side and if we needed to leave we took turns in shifts. We never left him completely alone. Only a select few people were supposed to know about it. But somehow, news sites found out. It was suddenly plastered everywhere.
"We're going to need to shelter him from the world when he wakes up" Kirishima says turning off the tv.
"When who wakes up?" A groggy voice from behind us says calmly. We both turn around slowly to see a sleepy boy rubbing his eyes. Kirishima runs over to him hugging him. "OI. IDIOT. GET OFF HIM" I say quickly pulling him off. I grab his hand. "Do you remember anything?"
"No. I don't think so. I mean, I remember being told I had a mission. But some things are kind of... blurry..." He responds in his cute little sleepy voice. I missed his voice. I missed him.
"Your comms were cut off at one point. And something happened..." Kirishima says. Not wanting to speak too much, but also wanting to explain what happened.
"Did you see or hear anything on the mission?" I gently ask. His eyes go wide. I grab him and hug him before he can cry.
"Good going idiot. So much for us not scaring him." Kirishima says as he rubs Todoroki's back. "We need to tell the nurses he's awake." Kirishima turns to leave.
"No. Not yet! Once the doctors come in here they're gonna scare him more. Just let us be alone with him right now" I hiss back. Todoroki is still hugging me.
"Fine. But soon I'll have to get the nurses" Kirishima sits on the bed next to me, wrapping an arm around Todoroki.
"We're so glad you're okay" I breathe out.
After that the nurses and doctors crowd him and push us out of the room
