~~~~~~~~~~~~Enji's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was having lunch with Rei after finishing up work early. I didn't really touch my food. "Is everything alright Enji? You haven't touched your food." "Yeah." I sigh. "No. I gave my eldest son his first solo mission without me. Last night my...my best friend-the mother of my children told me everything regarding the mission. Their chances of coming back home alive is ten percent." Rei gasps. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry." "I told her I'm pulling them off the mission but she refused. I just don't want to lose my family. I don't want to bury my family." I start to eat slowly. Rei was quiet. "I'm sure they'll be fine. Have faith in them." Rei finish eating. "I know." I eat. "But it's hard and it's way deeper than I thought." "You don't have to talk about it." "No I need to. I'd probably feel a lot better." "We can go to my place and talk about it. It's more private." I finish eating and call the waiter over. "Can I get the bill?" "It's on the house." He says. "Huh?" I stupidly ask. "Our boss told me that your meal is free tonight." "Can I speak to your boss? I don't want to get you fired." "Sure. One moment please." I finish my wine. "So Y/N...is she on the mission?" I nod. "She's getting back into the hero world?" "Not exactly. She's just on this mission and protecting our children. I know her. She's not going to tell me it's gotten worse and she'll sacrifice herself to save the kids. I want them all to come home." "Excuse me sir?" I turn my attention to the waiter. He was with his boss. "Is there a problem?" "I just want to make sure he's not going to get fired since he won't let me pay for my food." "Ah yes. It's on the house. It's an honor to have the number one hero to dine with us today." I nod. "Can I pay for hers at least?" "On the house." "Can I leave a tip?" "Yes." I take out my wallet and place a lot of cash in their hands. Enough to cover everyone's meal for the hour or so. "T-This is a very generous tip." I stand and smile. "Have a good day." I say while putting my wallet back. I grab Rei's hand and head out. We wait for the valet to bring my car around. He pulls up and gets out, handing over the keys. I open the passenger side for Rei. Once she gets in, I close the door and get behind the wheel. I pull off. The drive was silent. I pull up to her house and we get out. I lock the car. "Let's go for a walk. It's a beautiful day." Rei nods in agreement. I take her hand and we walk. "Do you want to talk about it?" Rei asks as we walk. "I don't even know where to begin." I take a deep breath. "Touya's mission is about black people going missing. Their Melanin is extracted and their organs are harvested and all to be son through the dark web. Men, women, children and elderly. All ages as long as they're black." "What's Melanin?" Rei asks. "It's a pigmentation occurring in the hair, skin, and iris of the eye in people to give them their color. That's what makes Y/N and our children black. That Melanin is worth more than gold." "More than gold? Oh dear." "Yeah it's pretty valuable. Natsu found out that the guy his mother is dating is part of the same human trafficking organization, which extracts melanin and harvest organs. He targets single mothers the most. Y/N is single and she's his next target. My entire family's his next target. I didn't find out about this until last night." "No wonder you're freaking out. It's understandable. Who is this horrible monster that is orchestrating all of this?" "They don't know who the ring leader is. But the guy Y/N was-is dating is Kento." Rei gasps. "The number three hero?" I nod. "What do you mean by she's still dating him? Does she not know?" "She knows. Touya wants her to keep dating him so he won't find out. Although I'm highly against it. Not only because he's the most dangerous person right now, he bad mouthed her during a gossip interview. He edited her conversation she had with him and said god awful things about her. That would be great enough reason for her to leave him. But I trust our son and his decisions. This is why I said their chances of survival is ten percent. Being a hero, you're putting your life on the line. That's a no brainer. But when someone is set out to kill you because of your skin color, that's a different level of dangerous. Which is why I want to pull them off this mission. She said no. That's it's better if they end it for personal reasons. I just want them to come home safely after this." Rei stops and turns to face me. "Hey, look at me. Have faith in them okay? They're going to come home. Safe and sound. Before you know it, you'll have your children in your arms. Try not to think so negative about it. You don't want to put that into the universe. Positive thoughts. Send that into the universe." Rei wipes my tears. "I know but it's s-so hard. I've been protecting them since she gave birth to our eldest. I've been protecting Y/N since we were kids. Now their first family mission is this?! Exactly what I've been protecting them from? God I wish she wasn't so stubborn. I wish they both wasn't so stubborn." Rei hugs me tightly. I hug her back. "It's going to be okay Enji." Rei coos. I wipe my tears and nod. Rei pulls away. She takes my hand and walk. We were walking through the park. I look up as the breeze blew. "The Cherry Blossoms are blooming beautifully this season." I commented. "Yes. It is." I look down at Rei. I pull her close to me and kiss her. She wraps her arms around my neck. I pull away and she rests her head against me. I close my eyes and stroke her hair. I could stay like this with her forever.
