Chapter Forty-Five: The Apology

I knock on Fuyumi's door.

"Fu it's your father.

"Go away you embarrassment of a man." She replies.

"I want to apologize to you and your siblings."

The door swings open.

"Let's hear your sorry ass apology now."

I step in. I look around.

"Where are the twins?" I ask.

"Our grandmothers put them down for a nap."

"First and foremost, I am truly sorry for hurting you all again." I apologize.

Shoto gets up and punches me. I stand there, taking it.

"You know you have a real fucking habit of embarrassing this family. All for a dead woman who tried to kill our mother and youngest siblings? Are you serious?" Shoto spazz.

"No. I don't love Rei."

"Then why did you say it?" Natsuo asks.

"I just said that so she can cross over. I didn't want her to torture your mother anymore. I cannot love a woman who hurt my family. But if I told her that she'd never leave. So I spoke to her one last time about a future we could've had. It doesn't mean shit to me nor do I think about it. The only person I love is your mother.

I don't want to hurt our family any further than I already have. I want to keep things peaceful with us. When I think of Rei, all I can see are the terrible things she's done. I hated Rei the night we found out your mother was in the hospital and her family was there too. I regret everyday for being with her.

I had to forgive her and myself for our actions. Had I not, I wouldn't be standing right here with you all. I would've been raging and trying to take out her family. That's why I have a restraining order on her entire bloodline so they can't cross us. I don't even want her sister's future kids near us. I will protect you all until my last breath as your father.

Boys, don't ever follow into my footsteps and make the same mistakes I made. I know you're all in a relationship now but keep doing what you're doing. And Fu? Let me know if Ren change and I'll deal with him. If he ever hurts you and Hikari, he's a dead man." I respond.

Fuyumi hugs me.

"Oh daddy! I'm so happy to hear that mom is the only woman you love."

I hug her back.

"She's my one and only."

"You may be a complete dumbass but at least you're not embarrassing us." Touya hugs me.

"I've learned my lesson."

I hug him back.

"You're forgiven." Natsu hugs me.

I smile wide and hug him back.

I pull Shoto in for a hug.

"That was a mean hook." I tell him.

"Sorry about that. We're just really protective of mom."

"I know. I'm glad we have you all as our children. Oh there's one last thing. I'm proposing to your mother soon and I'm going to need all your help to help me pull this off."

"Really?!"

Fuyumi squeals and hugs me again.

"About damn time." Touya said.

"I know its long overdue."

"Yeah and Grandma Teka can finally get off your back."

I laugh.

"That too. We'll talk more about the details later." I say before leaving out. I walk back into my room. I climb into bed. Y/N was asleep. Must be the medication. I pull her close and kiss her forehead.

"Did you talk to them?"

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you. Yes I talked to them. I told them everything."

"Then what happened to your face?"

"Jr."

"Shoto did that?"

I nod.

"It was before I explained everything. He was really pissed."

"You sure have a way of pissing every child off."

Y/N gently touch my face. She kiss where Shoto punched me.

"Maybe I should've went with you."

"No I needed to do it alone. Plus I deserved it. I understand from their perspective. Hell I didn't even want to speak to Rei but I noticed she wasn't leaving and she disrespected Fuyumi. She needed to be gone immediately so we can get on with our lives. Relieve you from the constant torture."

Y/N groans.

"Are you in pain?"

She nods.

"I think it wore off.

"Don't move."

I grab her medicine and a water bottle. I open the medicine and bottle. She takes them. I put it back and gently pull her close.

"Get some sleep. You're still on bed rest."

I kiss her forehead and stroke her hair.

"I love you beautiful." I tell her.

"I love you too Todoroki."

I watch her drift off into sleep.
