Rachel clutched her spear tighter to her chest and stared at the dark thing watching her from the bushes. At least she thought it was watching her.

It was hard to tell because the eyes were as dark as the rest of it, except when the light caught them just right; then they gleamed a golden colour.

She had seen animals in the woods before, rabbits and raccoons and squirrels and such, but this was bigger. It was as big as her, maybe bigger. Bears were dark. She wondered if it could be a bear.

She might have been afraid if her spear wasn't there with her. She knew she was safe. Spears have a long range for melee weapons, great for stabbing but slow on attacks.

She wondered maybe that it was just some big rabbit, sitting on a rock or something. But rabbits had long ears. Maybe it really was a bear. Bears are very common in the forest of the wild.

She turned and looked down the path, across the pretty flowers and large trees covered with vines, and across the grass. Rachel looked at the thick bushes again to watch where the dark thing was. She gave a start when she saw the hands reach over the edge of a large tree. It was a lot closer.

            But they weren't hands.

They were claws

Long curved claws

She readied her spear (a level 6 spear called iron spear), just to be sure. She wouldn't let that thing hurt her, she would be brave.

"I'm scared, is it dangerous?" Rachel muttered to herself.

Rachel looked at the dark thing. It was closer, as close as the large tree that came to between them. With its claws scratching the large tree, it lifted its head up and looked right into her eyes.

The thing grinned at her, showing long, sharp teeth. Her breath caught in her throat. Her shoulders shook. It was laughing.

Rachel's eyes were as big as they would go. She could hear her heartbeats making a whooshing sound in her ears.

"Father" she whined in a small voice, "I'm scared, please help me"

But her father is nowhere to be found, nowhere in this world that is. Rachel is trapped inside the virtual world game, Sword Art Online.

The thing just moved its left foot stepping on the rough ground, still looking at her, still laughing. Its shiny eyes looked at Rachel. It hissed and then laughed as it hunched down.

With a howl the dark thing sprang into the open. It ran like a streak, just a blur of black. The thing was faster than any animal she had ever seen. Rachel screamed.  Claws flashed through the air, its claws were just a blur, but suddenly stopped a few inches on Rachel's face.

Rachel was terrified, laughing that awful laugh. The dark thing lowered its body as if showing respect, towards Rachel. Then a window notification appeared in front of Rachel with a ping sound, saying.

"You have the necessary items to tame this beast"

"Necessary items? Tame? What?" Rachel was bewildered at the words inscribed in the window notification. She swipe down the window to know more about the message.

     YES or NO

Rachel sucked in a deep breath, Puzzled by the sudden change of events. Her knees buckled and fell on the ground in a sitting position.

"What just happened?" Rachel muttered to herself with a surprised look and mixed feelings.

With a brief hesitation she then tapped YES.

The Black Beast growled in acceptance, and red glyph markings appeared throughout its body. A window notification emerged with letters flushed vividly saying.

"Do You Want To Give A Name To Your Pet?"

                        Yes or No

Rachel selected YES and typed Kuro Yami on the holographic like keyboard.
