Chapter 18 – The Ice that Melts

Yuki’s POV

Something inside me makes me feel sad, and worst I think I’m about to cry.

‘He’s just having a fever that’s all.’

But that assurance didn’t last long. I just felt my cheeks were wet, making me touch them and I believe I really am crying. It was my first time that I cried in front of the person who I barely know.

“Why are you crying?” I just realized Hibiki has opened his eyes and looked at me with a worried expression.

“I don’t know. It just started flowing.” I know I’m not supposed to talk to him about these things, but it seems my emotions are so uncontrollable and just telling me to go on.

“I’m sorry for making you worry. It’s just that I caught a fever, that’s all.” Hibiki is trying to cheer me up.

“And that fever came from me. You shouldn’t have come to take care of me. I was supposed to say thank you, but it seems that I need to say sorry.” Even my voice became hoarse.

“You don’t have to. It was my decision to take care of you. I’m sorry for shouting at you last time. I’ll make it up to you. This fever won’t last long so don’t cry anymore.” He smiled and I just silently nodded.

I wiped my tears and he went back to sleep. I don’t know, but it seems I felt security when he told me that. The school bell rang and I know I’m supposed to go back to my class but I didn’t even stood up in my seat.

Hibiki’s POV

Classes are over and it seems she skipped them. I just sigh. ‘I made her worry.’

“Just let her recover on her own. Since you know the situation, I know you’ll cooperate with me.”

‘That’s quite hard, Mr. Shiki. After three years of not seeing her…’ I stroke Yuki’s hair as she is sleeping beside me. ‘At least she’s starting to open up.’ I just smiled.

Mikuo’s POV

‘So she also has someone so dear, huh?’

I saw Red Moon on the rooftop sleeping. I pinched his nose.

“Ne, Red Moon, Silver Sky and Black Shadow can’t play with me right now. How about entertain me for a while?” I smiled mischievously.

He stood up. “Hah! I don’t mind but, don’t cry when your baby face gets hurt alright?” He said with an arrogance.

“As if you can do that.” I smile mischievously went into to fighting mode.

I first attacked.

Kousuke’s POV

“Mission complete.” I said as I put back my weapon tonfas on my side. I walked out of the building and bomb automatically activated. I rode my silver car and left the place.

Someone’s POV

“Every piece is on its place now.” My friend said.

“Should we start to make attacks and see who will be the first to checkmate?” I said. As I started to move the rook towards the enemy. ‘The real game has just begun.’
