Chapter 16 – Trouble

I was walking back and forth thinking if I should leave or not. ‘He might be Yuki’s relative or something.’ I haven’t decided yet until I heard someone coming from Yuki’s room. I suddenly ran to where the sound came and I saw a guy wearing red outfit – red coat, red gloves, red long sleeved polo and red boots. The only thing that wasn’t red is his green eyes. He was staring at her.

“Who are you and what are you doing?” I asked calmly. It might affect the situation if I get him angry.

He was startled and looked at me with his green eyes. ‘Looks like he’s angry’

We both got surprise when a person, whose voice was the same in the telephone called Yuki’s name outside the house. The guy in red jumped outside the window and I closed it to make sure that he won’t be coming back to the room, not minding where he went. I cleared my throat as I was walking towards the front door. I was going to open it when it the door suddenly opened. I saw a person who was wearing yukata and with a fan on his right hand.

“What did you do to Yuki?!” He asked as he approached me quickly.

“I-I can e-explain…” I haven’t said other words because he took out his fan and starting to attack me.

“State your name!” the fan suddenly became sharp on its edges like blades. I got cut on my cheeks as I continue to dodge it.

“My name’s Kyouya…” Before I can finish my statement, a loud bark was heard behind the yukata guy and the dog suddenly ran towards me, then faced him as if it’s protecting me from him.

“…Hibiki.” I sighed. ‘But wait… If it’s protecting me from him,’ I looked at the dog’s fur, trying to recall it until I remembered its name.

“Yukino?” Feeling unsure.

Mr. Yukata Guy looked at me with a surprised look.

“Kyouya?” he said, He looked at Yukino and then looked at me on my eyes again.

“No doubt. You’re him. Yukino won’t do that if you’re not him.”

Now this time, it was I who gave him a surprise look. “MR. SHIKI?!”

He withdrew all the blades from his fan and hid it somewhere on his clothing. “Long time no see. It’s been like 2, no, 3 years since we last met. Did you return with your father?”

I nodded.

A long silence occurred. “If you’re the one who’s in here… then, you saw her?” he asked.

‘Who’s her?’ I thought. ‘Don’t tell me…’

“Is this about Yuu-chan?” I asked.

“Her name is Yuki now ever since she thought that you were dead.” He stared at me blankly for a second and looked away.

‘She’s… alive?’ It was sudden news to me.

Flashback

I opened my eyes with the first thing I saw is the white ceiling of a hospital.

“Yuuki!” I panicked. “Is she alright?” I asked my father as I tried to stand up from the bed even though my abdomen still hurts. All I got was a silence.

I understood what does that mean. There, the silence got longer until I looked at the window. I just realized that we went back to US. I grit my teeth.

“We didn’t even get to see her body and just went back like nothing happened?!” I shouted.

“It’s for your own good. You won’t be able to heal immediately if we didn’t return. No hospital equipment won’t be able to help you there.”

I bowed my head and with the word he said, I snapped.

“I need to be alone right now.”

With that kind of tone that I used for the first time, he understood what I’m trying to say. He went out of the room.

It was my entire fault. If only I was stronger, she won’t be killed. I blamed myself for not protecting her. That’s why I swear that I won’t be serious to a girl next time.

Flashback end

“Yuu, the sweet and gentle girl, and Yuuki, the cold and emotionless student is the same, huh. This is an interesting news.” I murmured.

“Yeah. The same goes for you, Kira-kun. Or should I say, Hibiki-kun now?” Mr. Shiki said.

“Well, I had doubts when Kazuki, your father, just suddenly left without telling me after he called over Yuuki to your house. I don’t know what happened. The only thing that I know is, she doesn’t remember you. All she knows is that she was covered in blood and she was the only one involved that time. I don’t know when she will be able to recover. Just let her recover on her own. Since you know the situation, I know you’ll cooperate with me.”

I just stayed silent.

He looked at the wall clock and it was already 7pm.

“Well, you better go home. It’s already late. You wouldn’t want your father to get worried again, do you?”

I couldn’t reply.

“Don’t worry. I’ll tell her that you came by.”

I don’t understand the situation anymore but still gave a nod and went out of the house. With that kind of expression Mr. Shiki gave me, the expression that I never saw once before… It’s quite scary. He wasn’t the same person I knew.

Thinking my thoughts all over again, I’m glad that she’s still alive. I’ve been blaming myself all these years. 'Now that I know everything, this time, I’ll protect her even if it costs my life.'
